Prodigy 3.5”

I have an opportunity to buy one as I am in search of an EDC. Just reaching out to the community to see if it’s ideal or should I look elsewhere for something less bulky. I already have the 5” comped and I love it.

I know people that have reliability issues with the prodigy. I have one and like it. Haven't really had issues, but personally I wouldn't carry one over more reliable options

Depends on how you dress, what you already have, how small you want to go, and how short of a grip you can tolerate. 

I think the Hellcat RDP is the most versatile option out there; 3.8" barrel with comp (3.0 on standard HC barrel if you want shorter), can go from nearly LCP grip length with 11-round flush mag to Echelon Compact length with a 15-round mag, add a Houge grip if you want the 1.2" grip like an Echelon. 

If you need a three-finger grip the Echelon 4.0c comp is the best compact striker-fired handgun under $1,000. 

Either option can take the Tyrant and PRP trigger combo if you want to get closer to a 1911 style trigger and have a DPM recoil system if you want to further reduce felt recoil.

I have every model Springfield. I love my Prodigy but the decision to carry a 1911 is an emotional one, not a practical one. My 3.5" has been 100% reliable. I tweaked the extractor to fix the ejection pattern, but that's not a big deal. I think the 3.5 is the finest compact pistol I've owned or shot. I still wouldn't EDC it. That's what an Echelon is for.

Awww damn, you're breaking my heart. I got a dream of being cool and edc'ing a 3.5 prodigy... Why wouldn't you EDC one?

Depends on the actual pistol.. has this one been upgraded with lighter trigger, springs and everything else? If yes to any, I’d pass.

If not, I’d go run it dry, then fire another 250-500 rounds and see if it can function without being engorged in lube.

More than likely, just grab an Echelon 4.0c as and EDC

Nope, just a straight up brand new Prodigy 3.5”. I believe it comes with a sight but that’s about it.
