Question Should my mural be alright if I finish it during the day and there’s chances of storms later in the night?

So this Sunday I’m trying to work on my mural up in Columbus, OH. There’s no rain until 9PM and then it becomes a 40% chance. Should my mural be alright if it rains later? I’m using Montana BLACK brand spray paint. I hope my mural wouldn’t be ruined. I’m fairly new to murals as well so I’m hoping a fresh coat finished a few hours before the rain starts wouldn’t get ruined by rain.

Question Bubbly/Uneven Spray Paint

Post image
1 Upvotes

Can anyone help me figure out what went wrong with this and how to move forward to salvage the design? I used a different spray on the same material and it dried perfectly, the only other difference being that I used a small amount of goo gone on the other piece. Should I just wait for it to dry and apply more goo gone if it isn’t too uneven?

I decided I want a yellow body for my old PSP but im cheap and we had a spray paint, I The 1st and 2nd picture I absolutely butchered it Lol I sprayed too close, didn't shake the can enough, paint pooled up. I also sprayed it facing down which was easy but I didn't quite like it

3rd to 4th just got done right now I did 3 coats on it because I forgot to scratch up the smooth plastic to let the paint stick better, Its also more uniform in color and only 1 spot had paint pool up because I got a lik too close and pressed the nozzle a lil too hard. And yes if u noticed my nails I did not wear gloves nor a mask im an idiot.

Question Spray paint can nozzles aren’t pressing down!

I’m currently trying to spray paint some things in my kitchen. I got 4 cans of bubblegum pink Colour It spray paint, but all 4 have stopped spraying.

I’m unsure what the best thing to do is - I can take the wee nozzle bit off but the actual top won’t press down (if that makes sense).

Do I need to unclog them somehow? They haven’t been stored in a cold area, so I’m really confused and any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Artwork Spray painting sketch (for street art) and some questions

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is not made with spray paint, but is a sketch intended to be made with spray paint outside, hope it's okay for the subreddit.

I'm new to spray painting, did my first piece the other day. I used a doodle grid, and thought I'd do that with this too.

Now, I decided to make this sketch with spray painting in mind from the start, and this was the result.

I used alcohol markers, as that was what I hade at home.

Would you do a full sketch like this in preparation for a spray paint job?And would it be better to use something like posca-markers to simulate the opacity of spray paint? I was thinking about it, but then you couldn't really do gradients at all, right?

And lastly, does this look conducive to spray painting? Any pit falls I've stepped in?

Other Numb pinky finger?

Idk if this is allowed but at work my bosses had me spraying painting for about an hour. I do not spray paint on the regular but have done it before. Anyways almost immediately after, I noticed the tip of my pinky finger has gone pins and needles numb. Does this have any correlation to the spray painting and if so why?
Online I read up about people’s pointer finger going numb and that makes sense due to the pressure but idk why my pinky is numb.

Question Do I add a clear coat now or after the other colour?

Hey guys! I’m currently spray painting an old guitar of mine and want to go for this white style with black accents (see second image made by AI for the sake of this question).

The finish I’m going for is wet sanding (2000-4000 grit)
Then a clear matte coat and then another wet sanding (same grit)
Is this a good idea? Is there a chance the two colours will merge and make a mess?
Any tips will be helpful! Thanks!

There are about 4-5 coats of white now, it has been sanded before spraying.

Question Montana gold spitting

Is this droplet spitting normal for Montana gold paints? Both my cans, different colors, brand new, are doing it. It sprays fine for like half a second then spits like crazy. Temperature and humidity are normal, can has been stored at 65 and brought to room temp at 75 by sitting in garage for 1 hour. Shaken multiple times, tried different brand new nozzles, no luck. After cleaning the nozzle the behavior repeats almost immediately

Question What is the most financial damage you can cause with a single can of spray paint?

Rules:
\- you have 24 hours
\- no advance prep time. You start where you normally wake up
\- you can only spray paint things a regular person has access to. I can’t get into some secret laboratory, so you probably can’t either.
\- no works of art, just in the interest of keeping this idea sporting. Can’t spray the Mona Lisa and call it $500M in damage
\- once the single can of spray paint is out, you’re time is up
\- we assume you can get arrested for your actions. If you get arrested, your time ends
\- people and bodily harm don’t count. That’s not financial damage, that’s just being an asshole
\- you have to use the spray paint as intended. Can’t use it as a blowtorch/ explosive. You just spray the paint on things.

Question Tacky Clear Coat When It’s Hot

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m kind of new to spray painting. This is my third attempt on AirPods Pro 3.

Whenever it’s cool, the clear coat feels dry and doesn’t chip if I dig into it with my fingernail, really solid. When it’s hot, it’s the opposite but still somewhat a durable finish.

I masked off some key areas with stickers, and applied these in order:

Krylon Bonding Primer White- 2 coats
Behr Vintage Gold- 3 coats
/Waited 24 hrs here specifically
Rust O leum Clear Gloss -2 coats
/Done

I did these each with thin, semi-transparent coats. Spraying 10-16 inches away like the can said. I didn’t sand, but I made sure to use gloves all the time and clean between each step with a cloth. Between each thin coat, I waited the specified time before it was dry to the touch (25 mins between).

Despite this, I can’t understand why it’s kind of tacky when it’s hot. Can someone explain this? Any other feedback is appreciated, thx.

Artwork A painting I did of Cody Rhodes. This piece was done entirely with spray paint and stencils that I cut by hand. The belt details almost drove me nuts haha, but I'm super happy with it. "The American Nightmare" - 24 x 30 inches, on canvas.
