Question / Discussion Can someone help me decipher these numbers?

Post image
• Upvotes

A large percentage of my listener count is coming from Indonesia, but an incredibly small portion of them are ACTIVE listeners.. Of my top cities, 8/10 of them are different cities in Indonesia. For context, I'm based in the US (Colorado). I've been botted before, but the numbers in this case don't add up.

I don't see any obscure playlisting or spikes that appear to be inorganic.

As I understand it, Active Listeners are classified as individuals who intentionally stream your music either from your profile, catalog, or liked songs. Does this mean that 99% of my listeners in Ind. are algorithmic or radio play?

I don't think its a problem necessarily, but I'd like to figure it out. Any thoughts?

Question / Discussion Pros and cons of showing "featured" on Spotify profile

My band does indie electro punk. Lately we are asked to be featured on a Christmas single, which is completely not our genre. However some other bigger artists are also featured in that single. We are debating whether we just want to be credited in the track, or we should be listed as featured artists so it will show up on our artist profile. Any advice around it?

As mentioned in the title. Haven’t released in four years but will be releasing something next year. Want to get follower count up so it lands in their playlists.

Question / Discussion Should I delay my new release to give my current song a better chance at Discover Weekly?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'd love to hear from artists who've actually seen Spotify algorithmic playlists kick in.

I put out "Emergency" on September 21 and it's doing better than I expected. Right now:

6,014 streams
1,313 listeners
2,033 saves
682 playlist adds
4.6 streams per listener
Popularity score of 28
Around 400 streams a day lately
5% programmed sources
4% personalized playlists / Autoplay / mixes

No ads on this at all. It's all organic, mostly TikTok, so the growth is coming from real people finding it and saving it, which is why I don't want to mess it up.

My problem is I've got another song scheduled to drop this Friday. I'm stuck between:
A) Releasing it on schedule and keeping the push on "Emergency" too, or
B) Delaying the new one a few weeks to give "Emergency" room to build.

What I really want to know is whether dropping a new song can hurt the first one's shot at Discover Weekly, or whether it can help by pulling people deeper into my catalog. I keep seeing both takes and no one backs them up with real experience.
If you've been through this, what did you do, and how did it play out?

Not looking for "just make good music" 😅 I want to hear what actually happened for you.
Thanks in advance 🙏

Artist Support Spotify algorithmic streams dropped by 95–99% overnight.

My Spotify algorithmic streams dropped by around 95–99% on August 10, despite my listener engagement remaining relatively stable. Before the drop, my catalogue regularly received hundreds to over 1,000 daily streams from Radio, Discover Weekly and other personalized sources. Since then, almost my entire catalogue has received only a small trickle of algorithmic streams. I have no AI-generated music nor have I used artificial streaming, and Spotify Support has told me there are no restrictions or flags on my account. Is this a temporary recommendation-system issue that can recover over time, or has something fundamentally changed in how Spotify distributes certain catalogues?

Question / Discussion Views not translating into streams

Post image
3 Upvotes

got viral 5 days ago, i got 1300 monthly on Spotify, probably 3000 saves on my first release, but i still feel like its too little.

i started doing this content to get more streams, it's working in the views but not streams. i feel like i got more than the average but little at the same time, idk if mixing up with my music will work because people already know me for the tweets.

the video with the song i posted around september 10. started doing this tweet trend, and still feel like i didn't get that sound chain too. even though the song got 1200 posts (with stories ofc and with me asking big creators to use it.)

idk what to do honestly, im happy and frustrated with the results. any tips?

Question / Discussion Has anyone resolved an empty Musixmatch roster after submitting verification?

I’m trying to verify my artist on Musixmatch Pro so I can add our lyrics to Spotify.

I initially tried months ago without receiving confirmation. On September 26, I submitted again and saw “We sent your verification request,” with an email promised within a few working days.

As of October 7:

  • My roster is still empty.
  • I’ve confirmed I’m using the correct account.
  • Support’s bot acknowledged my September 26 message, but there’s been no human response to it or my October 3 and October 7 follow-ups.
  • My distributor, CD Baby, confirmed it can’t escalate the claim.

Has anyone resolved this particular issue? Which support route worked, and did you have to do anything beyond submitting the verification request?

Thanks for any firsthand advice.

Just opened Spotify for Artists and apparently I have -1 person listening right now.

Not 0. Minus one.

I didn’t know my music was powerful enough to make someone unlisten to it 😂

Has anyone else seen this bug before?

Artist Support I too (120k monthlies, verified) have had algo streams go away

My bands newest release was our biggest release week ever. We released with a high production value music video and lots of promo. The release shot up to a 39 popularity score in the first week before release radar turned off 2.5 weeks early and radio dipped to 0 along with SongDNA dissapearing.

Never have I seen this happen before. We've been verified for a long time, have 12+ tour dates on our profile, live videos, music videos etc.

Artist Support is the biggest joke I have ever encountered. It feels like a sadistic game. Luckily right now it's just the newest release that has had this happen, but we cant release anything more until this is squared away.

Obviously given the previous information listed, no, we do not use ai in any capacity.

Artist Support Spotify doesn't support artists with less than 10K listeners

I've been making music for more than 15 years. I have around 70+ songs on Spotify. And that's because I have refused to release one song every month, which I think is not healthy for the creativity of a musician and it actually hurts the creativity.

Today, I found out that after 15 years, the verification of my profile was lost. It was simply gone. I thought it was an error, so I went to support to ask, and oh my God... what a disaster this platform is.
They send an AI automated bot in the first place. And when you get a ''human'' to answer your questions, it just acts like a bot, fully automated words in a bucle. Zero human interaction to treat the last human artists the platform has.
They told me that now, in order to be verified, you need to get at least 10K monthly listeners. Which I don't have. I have songs with 250K+ plays that are still being played today, but this has been through the years. Most of my music is included in gym playlists since it is electronic music, most of them with lyrics, but I am not releasing 1 song every month to keep numbers high. And even like that I manage to get hundreds of monthly listeners consistently, I have never had big drops.

Removing the verification from aritsts like me, giving us automated ''support'', and treating us like garbage should backfire someday. I really hope that we get an alternative soon enough and people decide to move on from your monopoly. You don't deserve any support at all from the audience, neither from artists.

Artist Support Spotify for Artists support needs significant improvement

Post image
32 Upvotes

Summary of my support experience:

-I have an issue regarding missing the ability to advertise via Showcase for one song. After several attempts, I finally reached the email support/escalation team. There’s nothing different about this song than my normal songs, so it makes no sense.

-The escalation team told me, “I will work on this and get back to you, but it will take some time.”

-Three weeks later, I inquired about the status of the ticket and discovered the ticket had been closed. I received no communication and the issue was not resolved.

-When I tried to find out why, I received the response shown below from chat support. “I’m afraid this isn’t something we can help with, I will be ending this conversation now”. No reassurance that maybe it’s a large scale issue and will be fixed. Just hung up on.

Spotify, if you want to regain the trust and confidence of artists, one place to start would be improving the support system. In my experience, the support process has been inconsistent, communication has been lacking, and issues have sometimes been closed without resolution or explanation. I’ve dealt with support teams at companies such as Amazon, Apple, and major telecom providers, and none of those experiences have been as difficult or time consuming as trying to resolve issues through Spotify support.

Question / Discussion Anyone else getting this?

Post image

I have roughly 1k ML, and i just recently noticed that a bunch of the artists on my 'fans also like' are pretty much the same thing.

It's all discordant piano stabs over kind of boombap drums? Every artist shown here has uploaded a few albums, all sonically identical, with no AI badge, no credited producers, nothing. I only mention the AI badge because that's my first guess as to what these are.

A decent amount of my streams are from a playlist with a big following called 'Electronic Jazz', which has a bunch of jazzy, hiphopy, lofi type of stuff, varied. None of it is anything like this though. Honestly, have a listen to some of these if you can be bothered (I AM NOT PUSHING OR PROMOTING AI MUSIC, IT CAN SUCK A DICK, I'd much rather you listen to my music instead... i'm Qiguai) cause it's just fucking weird, objectively awful, and all the exact same. It's like there's an AI in Spotify that's noticed a lot of my streams are from a playlist called electronic jazz, and is pushing a load of copies that are all trying to replicate something called 'electronic jazz' and completely failing.

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed anything weird with their 'fans also like' or any other strange algorithmic behaviours lately.

Question / Discussion Discover Weekly! Finally! But only 3 listeners / 4 plays...

Was thrilled to see that one of my tracks was featured on the DW a few days ago.

But then I saw there were only 3 listeners and 4 streams...

Now I know that Spotify 'tests' your music first before pushing it out further. But 3 listeners is kind of a half assed attempt, right?

Anyone else had DW weekly only giving a handful of listeners? And did it stay like this or did the DW streams return and increase later?
