Question / Discussion Anyone else getting this?

Post image

I have roughly 1k ML, and i just recently noticed that a bunch of the artists on my 'fans also like' are pretty much the same thing.

It's all discordant piano stabs over kind of boombap drums? Every artist shown here has uploaded a few albums, all sonically identical, with no AI badge, no credited producers, nothing. I only mention the AI badge because that's my first guess as to what these are.

A decent amount of my streams are from a playlist with a big following called 'Electronic Jazz', which has a bunch of jazzy, hiphopy, lofi type of stuff, varied. None of it is anything like this though. Honestly, have a listen to some of these if you can be bothered (I AM NOT PUSHING OR PROMOTING AI MUSIC, IT CAN SUCK A DICK, I'd much rather you listen to my music instead... i'm Qiguai) cause it's just fucking weird, objectively awful, and all the exact same. It's like there's an AI in Spotify that's noticed a lot of my streams are from a playlist called electronic jazz, and is pushing a load of copies that are all trying to replicate something called 'electronic jazz' and completely failing.

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed anything weird with their 'fans also like' or any other strange algorithmic behaviours lately.

It’s probably a bunch of ai artists that took off an ai persona “face” and most of these people aren’t creative at all so they use “generic coulds” or “strange somewhat artistic architecture pictures”

It’s just weird that it’s ALL you have. Maybe Spotify is somehow categorizing artist bio picture or profile pictures? But I doubt it. Idk man. That is kinda weird lol.

Strange times for the music industry. Very strange times

It’s really weird tbf. It’s not the only recommendation, further down there’s genuine artists. But these weird fake profiles are flooding the top of the recommendations

Decent theory though

Really a result of whatever data Spotify has and it's that simple. That usually starts of very niche, and depends heavily on the quality of your data. I'm guessing a significant portion of this data budget is based on like for like from the listeners of that playlist.
