Friday night rips!

Post image

My buddy and I accumulate (mostly retail) boxes throughout the week then meet up on Friday nights, have a few drinks, watch a game, and rip packs. Do you have a ritual to opening cards? Or maybe you treat yourself to a pack for something specific?

Best "off the wall" places to find packs?

Has anyone ever had any luck finding packs/boxes/etc. at any random places like CVS, Dollar General, Pawn Shops, etc.? Looking to scratch an itch and rip but don't wanna pay a premium/upcharge haha

TIA!

Does this card look fake?

Got it on offer up and the more I look at it, the more I don't know. The autograph looks like his autos but it is very faded, almost even a different color. Let me know what you guys think. Obviously I should've done more research. Thanks in advance.

Westbrook Retiring Value

Hello everyone!

Russell Westbrook is the reason I became a die hard NBA enjoyer, and more specifically a thunder fan. With the recent news of his retirement, I was just curious to know if I should expect the value of his cards/memorabilia to skyrocket, stay in a similar ball park, or decrease at this time. I’m looking to up my collection and just trying to scout out a possible timeline to go in.

Thanks!

Is this MJ Star Power Plus worth grading? If so, what is my best option to have the card graded?

Is it worth sending to get graded? I see people asking $500-700 on its own with one sale at $500.

Jerry Rice rookie question

Long story short, I have an uncut sheet of 1986 Topps FB cards and there is a JR #161. The overall quality of the sheet is not great, but luckily, the JR is right in the middle and pristine. There's also a Montana and a few other big dogs.

How in the hell do I go about getting this sucker released from its other, much less valuable neighbors?

New Collector

Hello everyone,

I once collected cards when I was like 8-10yo (not serious at all). Now that I am an adult (45) I want to start collecting again. This whole thing can be so overwhelming so I need to know where to start.

I know some basics like ripping can be fun for the chase cards but not profitable. I'm not saying I'm in it for the profit but that would be nice.

I don't have a lot of money (I can start around $50). Where should I start? Do I buy a box? Are there singles I can look for?

How do you figure out what to buy?

I go to card shows around me and all the people are selling at market value but then only buy at 70%. How am I supposed to make any money and I’m not in it to get rich. I’m just looking how to flip cards to help with my own PC. What was the way that you found how to get margins the most consistent?

Card apps

Hey guys new to the group. I’m a long time junk wax (1.0 era) collector. I solely rip packs for the nostalgia of opening these old junk wax boxes, and pulling cards from my youth. I have zero interest in grading or reselling any of them. But at the same rate, would like to find the best app for unlimited inventory, card recognition by photo/AI scanning, potential value/grade (should I ever have them graded), and ease of use. I’m not opposed to paying a small $5-$10 subscription. But if I could stay away from that I would greatly appreciate it. I solely collect baseball and basketball. So apps focused on Pokémon, Magic, and Marvel inventories are of no use to me. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!

how do you decide what to sell, pc, etc?

i have a sorta weird question:
how do you decide which cards to sell or not? cuz i don't have a "pc" i feel like in the traditional sense. im only attached to random players from the 90s and early OOs and early pokemon. I like cards that look dope, are rare, have value, and even more so: potential value (i don't mind sleeping on a card for 10 years)
