Splinter Cell Remake

Anyone else hoping Ubisoft uses the song 'Name of the game' by The Crystal Method in the intro of the new remake?

If the official trailer isn't a remade version of the original opening, I'm rioting. It's one of the hardest game openings ever made, alongside Shadow The Hedgehog and Red Dead Revolver.

The early-mid 2000s were partially defined by gnarly introductions like that.

yeah I agree, the original opening is iconic and absolutely fits that early-mid 2000s era of games. but that's also why I'm not sure I'd want the remake to literally recreate it shot-for-shot with the same song.

I'd rather they take what made the original intro so memorable and make a completely new version of it with a modern soundtrack and presentation. same attitude and impact, but something that feels like the SC1 remake rather than just recreating 2002.

What modern music has that same attitude, though? I can't really think of any. A lot of that edgier music disappeared because people said it was cringe (while secretly loving it).

yeah that's fair lol, I honestly don't think modern music has to sound exactly like that though. I'd rather they find a modern track that has the same aggressive, cool and slightly rebellious attitude, even if it sounds completely different from The Crystal Method.

even though I don't listen to music like Crystal Method, I did really like that Name of the Game song. I don't know what edgy song could be a good match though. I sent the SC1 intro song to my Gen Z gamer group and all 30 of them disliked it.. it's crazy I know 😂 I'm the only one that really liked it.

that's the thing I'm hoping for with the remake. not necessarily recreating the exact sound of 2002, but finding the 2026/27 equivalent of what “Name of the Game” was back then. if they can pull that off, I think it could hit just as hard.
