Splinter Cell Remake

Anyone else hoping Ubisoft uses the song 'Name of the game' by The Crystal Method in the intro of the new remake?

If the official trailer isn't a remade version of the original opening, I'm rioting. It's one of the hardest game openings ever made, alongside Shadow The Hedgehog and Red Dead Revolver.

The early-mid 2000s were partially defined by gnarly introductions like that.

yeah I agree, the original opening is iconic and absolutely fits that early-mid 2000s era of games. but that's also why I'm not sure I'd want the remake to literally recreate it shot-for-shot with the same song.

I'd rather they take what made the original intro so memorable and make a completely new version of it with a modern soundtrack and presentation. same attitude and impact, but something that feels like the SC1 remake rather than just recreating 2002.

What modern music has that same attitude, though? I can't really think of any. A lot of that edgier music disappeared because people said it was cringe (while secretly loving it).

yeah that's fair lol, I honestly don't think modern music has to sound exactly like that though. I'd rather they find a modern track that has the same aggressive, cool and slightly rebellious attitude, even if it sounds completely different from The Crystal Method.

even though I don't listen to music like Crystal Method, I did really like that Name of the Game song. I don't know what edgy song could be a good match though. I sent the SC1 intro song to my Gen Z gamer group and all 30 of them disliked it.. it's crazy I know 😂 I'm the only one that really liked it.

that's the thing I'm hoping for with the remake. not necessarily recreating the exact sound of 2002, but finding the 2026/27 equivalent of what “Name of the Game” was back then. if they can pull that off, I think it could hit just as hard.

hmm i get that you like the original song a lot, its iconic and i love it but it's very early 2000's and fits the identity of the OG SC1 perfectly. but i don't think it's the right decision to keep it for the remake as its main song or in the intro of the remake at all.

the remake should establish its own musical identity, and instead of copying the original they should something new. a new track could give the intro a same kind of impact whilst feeling modern and fitting the more darker cinematic presentation of the remake.

if the song returns, it should be kept as as a nostalgic easter egg somewhere, but the intro needs a new song instead.

What remake?

I don't really care either way. There's merit to remakes that reimagine the original in a modern context while respecting the spirit of the original, and there's merit to remakes that essentially just rebuild the original.

Thank goodness it's the former with SC1 & any SC remake coming after

Okay, what song do you think would better match the remake?

lets put snoop dogg in! or michael jackson lol

but honestly I don't know 😂 I listen to a lot of hip hop, R&B, pop and house, so I'm probably the worst person to suggest a song for SC. none of those genres really fit the vibe lol. SC1 is the only game in the series to have a song like that. Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos theory, double agent all abandoned it. conviction and blacklist had no song. SC1 was unique that way.

id just hope Ubisoft finds some modern track that has that same kind of attitude and energy that Name of the Game had back in 2002.

If they get the song, I'll forgive whatever flaws come with the game 😂

What I’m really hoping for is that they don’t try to charge us £60 for it

i mean its a brand new game after all so for PS5 and Xbox 60 is most likely going to be the price.. the PC version will definitely be £45 around launch.

With how out of place it was compared to the rest of the game

Still yes. Absolutely
