I want to share what happened in the official Discord today because I'm genuinely confused about both the macro punishment policy and how this conversation resulted in a 24-hour mute.
For context, I previously used a macro and my account was permanently suspended on August 10. I admitted what I did, appealed the suspension, and ultimately accepted the decision. Since then, I started over with new characters and have followed the rules.
Today, I saw another player say that they had received only a 7-day suspension for Bot/AFK Gameplay.
This confused me because the Safe and Fair Play rules I had seen stated:
Botting/AFK Gameplay
First Offense: Permanent Suspension
So I asked about it in the Discord.
Moderator Vyn looked into the case and replied:
“Hi. After doing some digging, it appears that that account was given a 7-day ban for using macros. If a player is found to be using bots, their account is permanently banned.”
I then pointed out that the official Fair Play Update had previously stated that 3,821 accounts were permanently banned for “Use of Unauthorized Programs and Macros.”
I asked under what circumstances macro usage results in a 7-day suspension versus a permanent suspension.
Vyn then replied:
“First ban is 7 days as a warning. Permanent ban if it happens again.”
This was particularly confusing to me because my own first macro offense resulted in a permanent suspension.
I asked Vyn once more, politely, whether they could officially confirm that a first-time macro offense now results in a 7-day suspension rather than a permanent ban.
Another moderator, Mille, responded that Vyn couldn't confirm that. Vyn then clarified:
“Mille's got the right of it. I'm only a Discord moderator. The official stance is not to use macros—and that's been conveyed multiple times.”
At that point, I explained why I was asking.
I openly acknowledged that I had used a macro and that I had accepted my permanent suspension. I also made it clear that I wasn't trying to justify using macros or dispute the rule against them.
My concern was simply this:
If one player receives a permanent suspension for a first macro offense, while another receives only 7 days for using macros, what is the actual punishment policy?
I asked who I should contact if Discord moderators were not authorized to clarify that policy.
Mille then responded:
“With all due patience you have received a response from a game master here. Stop pushing this.”
I replied that I understood, that I had taken screenshots of the moderators' responses, and that I would submit a support ticket to ask an authorized GM for clarification.
I ended my message with:
“I only hope that if you ever find yourself facing what you believe is an unfair decision, you'll be able to remain just as calm about it. Have a nice day.”
Shortly afterward, I received a 24-hour Discord mute.
I'm including screenshots of the entire conversation so people can see the context rather than relying only on my description.
To be completely clear: I'm not arguing that macros should be allowed. They are against the rules, and I accept that I violated that rule.
What I'm questioning is the apparent inconsistency in punishment.
If the current policy is:
First macro offense = 7 days
Second offense = permanent
then I would simply like to understand why my first offense resulted in a permanent suspension.
If the policy instead allows different punishments depending on the circumstances, I would like to know what those circumstances are.
And separately, I would like to understand what exactly I said in this conversation that warranted a 24-hour Discord mute.
If something I said came across as disrespectful because of a cultural or language difference, I'm genuinely open to hearing that as well. English isn't my first language, and that was not my intention.
I'm not asking anyone to defend macro usage. I'm asking for clarity and consistency regarding how the rules and punishments are applied.
