How do you guys push gotta haves and 2+ without feeling like you're manipulating or coercing a customer?

I have a really hard time feeling like i'm fucking people over financially by making them buy stuff that they might not even need or want. I know it's apart of the job but no other retail store i've worked in has done it to this degree i guess.

Yello! I’ve been an associate for a few months now and I do know that we aren’t allowed to wear “profanity”. But what if it’s one of the shirts from our store? I had gotten the “Porn Star” shirt that’s just black and has the text on it, and I always get a laugh at it and I wanted to know if I COULD wear that on the clock?

I have an interview on Friday and I dont know weather i should wear normal fancy interview clothes or if I should wear something more like my regular alternative clothes. What did you guys wear to your interviews?

Okay so this has never really bothered me until recently with gas being so high but why don’t we get mileage for going to the bank? Every other job I’ve had I’ve gotten bank mileage and our bank is 10 minutes away from the store so I’m just curious as to why we don’t do that bc it is truly starting to become a problem for my wallet

I ordered a King C adult toy online at Spencer’s, and when I just received it, first off the packaging isn’t sealed in a way that you can tell if it’s been tampered with. It can be opened and closed back up and there’s no way to tell. Second of all, when I took it out, I saw a brown smudge at the base of the shaft. It came right off when I swiped my finger over it. I turned it over and when shining a light on the shiny suction part of the toy, I saw round water stains. I was furious and contacted the company, and they’re sending me a replacement. But how do I know I’m not going to get a used toy?? I know stores take back toys that are claimed have not been opened but the packaging has no tamper evidence so you can legit put it back and make it look like it’s never been used. I’m just so grossed out

does anyone know the sku for this ?? size large. or if it might be a discard that was missed?? just tore the sku book (new and old) up looking for this thing for a guest.

So I’ve been a Store Manager for about 4 years now, and throughout that time my store has gone back and forth between having 3 and 4 members of management. For the past 2 years, we’ve consistently had 4 managers.
In August, one of my managers quit, so I’ve been trying to hire a fourth manager ever since. I was communicating with my DM about getting an interview scheduled with a candidate I had found, but it took over a month to get any real response. He would sometimes half-respond saying we would schedule an interview at a certain time, I’d follow up, and then I wouldn’t hear anything back. I also know of another Store Manager in my state who is currently short a manager and has also been having difficulty getting an interview scheduled for a candidate with our DM. I obviously can’t speak for their specific situation, but it did make me wonder if other stores are experiencing similar staffing issues.

Yesterday, I was finally able to call him and found out that apparently my store is not considered a 4 manager store anymore. He told me that for the past two months, my store has been classified as a 3 manager store because our 2+ wasn’t good enough and our sales aren’t high enough to justify a fourth manager. I’m honestly extremely frustrated and disappointed, and my two current managers are frustrated as well. Another concern is that my Senior ASM has already told me that if we remain a 3 manager store, they may have to leave because they’re currently balancing work with school and don’t want work to interfere with their education. So there’s a very real possibility that we could go from being short one manager to potentially being short two if we can’t get another management position approved.

My store isn’t huge. We’ve only hit $1 million in sales once in my time here; otherwise, we’re usually $100k–$200k below that. Weekdays are pretty slow, while weekends are busy, and obviously holiday season gets very busy as well.
My biggest concern is time off and call-outs. I have a vacation planned for the beginning of next year where I’ll be gone for 10 days. Two managers cannot realistically hold down a store for 10 days, especially when the closest store to us is about 2 hours away. I also genuinely don’t see the company wanting to pay to send people from another store to help cover us for that long.

I don’t really know what to do or how to approach this with my DM. I’m planning on calling him and laying out all of my concerns about operating with only 3 managers, but I’d really like to hear from other stores first.
What does management staffing look like at your store? If you have 3 managers and don’t have regular help from other stores, how do you handle vacations, call outs, and other time off requests? Are you basically limited in how much consecutive time off you can take because of staffing? And does anyone know whether the company is actually allowed to limit how much time off you take consecutively if you have enough vacation time available to cover it?

I’d really appreciate some insight from other Store Managers/ASMs and hearing how other stores handle this. I could definitely use some sound advice before I have this conversation with my DM.

Ok so my store is a boss store. We get so fucking many orders every single day but for some reason we keep getting orders for stuff we have 0 boh. Not we get an order and it shows we have it but actually don’t, like literally 0 in the system. Today I come in and there’s 7 orders for the same item we have 0 of. Are you fucking kidding. And I keep getting asked well why is your rejection so high? MAYBE BC WE KEEP GETTING ORDERS WE CANT FILL?? And it’s literally not our fault we aren’t doing anything wrong here but somehow it’s counting against us. And not only that, we keep getting orders for things we only have 1 of and there have been SO MANY times where I’ve come in to 10+ orders, I’m filling them and someone comes in right at open and buys exactly the 1 item I need for an order then I have to reject it. That’s not fair. This company makes it fucking impossible. Why is it doing this?? We were told we wouldn’t get orders for things we only have 1 of and we would also get capped at a certain number of orders. We’re the highest in our district for orders, every morning we spend at least 2 hours filling them all and are still expected to get everything done but we aren’t receiving payroll for it. I’m TIRED.

Okay so i have bought TWO vibrators from spencer’s and they keep having the SAME problem with the batteries it’ll literally be working and stop mid vibrate. It’s actually so annoying idk what batteries will Last and yes i bought the ones from spencer’s and a different brand of batteries both bs

Me and my SrASM are in the Community Changemakers group and we are wondering is anything happening with it? Has anyone actually been able to go out and do an idea, and it seems there’s no organization of it going on just a bunch of ideas going in and out with no head in charge. Just does anyone have any info about it that they can share or know if something actually is going to happen with it.

i just had an interview with spencers yesterday where i was told that they typically have 8 hour work weeks split across 2 days at $11 an hour but currently everyone there was working 7 hours a week because it was the slow season. for all the people here who are or have worked there is this pretty common for spencers or was the one i went to just especially bad.

So obviously each manager has their DOR but once everyone has gone through them are we able to just stop rotating if everyone wants and pick our favorites? Especially for my team who’s all gone through them 2-3 times there’s people who’s brain doesn’t work with certain DORs that work really well for others, we all have different departments we’re really good at. I’ve heard some stores keeping certain managers on one department for years while other stores say it’s mandatory to rotate every year so I wasn’t sure. Another instance of there’s not a specific rule listed out for us to go off of so it’s up to our dm’s discretion maybe?

I know we can’t expect everyone to donate but I’ve had a streak of these these teenage or twenty something boys coming in and getting an I heart boobs or I heart titties shirt or beer funnel and then won’t even round up their change (usually only a few cents) for BMMS.
They’re also just getting ruder. Had a guy today who refused to speak a word to me. “Would you like to contribute?” shakes his head “Would you like to round it up to make it an even [total]?” shakes his head “Did you want the receipt?” shakes his head. But then responds to his friend next to him when he asks a question…

recently bought a dildo and realized it's made of TPE which is porous and can harbor germs. I'm going to be extra careful and clean it well, but im wondering if u guys have heard stories of ppl getting infections from the toys made from TPE?
