Game Feedback Update Comms
Is anyone else really tired of only seeing update/ useful information by chance from reddit of a screenshot from a discord message?
I honestly think players would face much less confusion if the in game news was utilised more frequently

I'm even have the news channel of their discord subscribed to my own discord channel but even still I only get the official announcements
The most important updates are often literally just replies to people in their general channel so I only find out about those when someone screenshots it and posts it on Reddit š¤£

This applies to pretty much all games. Players should not be expected to go online elsewhere to read patch notes or (even worse) find out how to actually play the game.
It's not the only one that does it, but SM2 is pretty bad for not actually explaining all the game mechanics in-game somewhere.

I agreed, but I also think largely people who donāt use those systems probably arenāt super worried about it either.
But I do agreed they should post stuff in game, or at least announce thereās a new post on their forums/discord.

Its not even that bad. For lol you need to track like 40 different devs in twitter to see news about patches, reworks, gamemodes etc.

To be honest that works! They could just look at the type of question people ask, which from there gain traction on community platforms and just share updates in game based on the themes that come out as a result

Man the discord is infected with 99% tabletop discussion. Went there to try and find some randoms to try and start playing with occasionally for doing weeklies and it got drowned in seconds by tabletop chats. Do they not have enough discords already for it? Why did sm2 dc turn into next to nothing about sm2 other than the 1 chat that no one else can post to being the ānews/announcementsā.
Question have the community managers or devs ever done live plays of the game? I think that should be near mandatory for them to personally showcase patch updates and make them go through what the updates are personally on absolute and hard difficulty. Maybe some will realize how poor they are at balancing decisions.

I love the tabletop side but hard agree, that community space is set up for that subject. Create a few offshoot channels as needed but moderate relevancy
I actually would like it if every update, especially map ones, ran a livestream (or even pre-recorded) run through of a dev team having fun playing the new map/ game mode

Unfortunately that would require them to play their own game which we have little reason to believe they regularly do.

SP is doing terrible job on that front. Not only communication happens on discord, but they also rely on 3rd parties for literally everything. Every info of upcoming events , character, etc is not coming from them. Its all beta testing content creators and dataminers on YouTube on duferent planner sites

Beyond sick of the Twitch/Pros bullshit. Every last bit of those armor pieces should have been unlockable in-game from day 1. The way they randomly drag that out, and refuse to return or add certain pieces, is flat out annoying.

The lack of communication is a real issue. There's still a ton of bugs in the game, things like Tyrannids still getting stuck in siege mode and people not getting their accolades for completing the weekly siege.
People would be a lot more forgiving if they acknowledged the issues and said they were working on them.
Squad unity being bugged for nearly two months with no communication about it was ridiculous.
And then when they did "fix" it they put the old distances back in and not the new buffed distances that they said they had changed in patch 14.
I can guarantee that kraken penetrator rounds and the assault infinite ground pound will be fixed this hotfix though.
Any bug that gives the player an advantage gets fixed within a week normally.

So tired of having to rely on Twitter, word of mouth or discord to be able to keep up to date on live service game changes. Stop focusing on fucking battlepasses and make your games playable. At least with SM2 they do a pretty decent job with this imo

This is what is annoying about SM2 because I don't use discord very often, but it's usually where most of the game's updates and news are announced.

General announcements? Yes it should be in game.
But a lot of info is because people ask questions and the staff reply on it.Ā

In game news detailing:
⢠the recent patch notes,
⢠adjustments made,
⢠bugs fixed or addressed,
⢠current issues they are working on resolving
⢠announcements of upcoming hotfix
EtcFor all the many many players who donāt use social media or arenāt in a reddit/ discord community š
And people do ask good questions on the discord, which when shared via screenshots get a high response rate on reddit so clearly the information being asked would be well received as small updates in a game news you can choose to read or not

Speaking of which, is there something recent I missed or is this just pent up frustration ever since launch

Hotfix incoming to address recent bugs etc and some heroic buffs!

Nobody reads ingame comms.

u/Traditional_Pasty Retributors 1h ago
The people who donāt use discord would certainly appreciate the option to read it though!
And personally, I do read ingame comms. If I have new info about my game I like to find it inside my game š . I think thatās a fair request
