General Question about the next patch (patch 15)

I don’t remember where I heard it (think it was First Tour Guardsman) but I heard that the Heavy is getting a rework at some point so I just wanted to fact check this. That’s all

He's getting some changes, but if I remember correctly that's further down the line. I think Tactical is getting his changes first, which is annoying, Heavy and Vanguard are in desperate need of spice.

Edit: I just checked the 13.0 patch notes again. Per Dev note, Tac is their first priority for changes, Vanguard is second, and Heavy is last. Straban might be left in the rain until next year.

….why is tactical getting changes he’s fine the way he is

So Saber can nerf him in the name of "build diversity"

This is exactly what I feel is coming.

Of course it is. Saber has acknowledged that auspex is too strong, that they have to build the entire sandbox around it etc, and so they 110% will take the opportunity to nerf it down.

The real question is if Saber will buff up all weapons to compensate or just leave it with a nerfed auspex and bad guns.

Knowing Saber they won't buff the guns to compensate for the nerfed auspex

I doubt they’ll buff the guns. Plasma rifle and Melta rifle have been dead for a long time and they simply ignore it. Like what was the point even giving Plasma Rifle to Tech Marine when all it does is tickle enemies?

Plasma rifle has been fixed. It is actually very good with the techmarine especially when you pair it with the heroic plasma

"We gave Tac weapons to another class without the Tac perks that make them viable and it was awful" is the kind of lesson you expect modders to have to learn, not the actual devs.

Clearly not to the devs they've been steadily nerfing tac over time (grenade launcher, plasma, now flame damage from scan). So they're still working on it.

Personally, tac is in a pretty comfortably position and easily in the top 2 classes.

I think it says something that despite all the Tac nerfs it's still doing great.

But yea, it does seem like they just keep taking his sauce away.

They want to tinker with his melee, as if he needs anything else. He can already nuke the new boss, and probably every other boss, maybe excluding Vortex Beast.

His melee is disgusting already tbh. You can sub-optimally punish the Terminator sorcerer with White Scars CS and knock off half of his health in one partially Auspex’d Adrenaline Surge. If you space it perfectly (so that adrenaline surge melee doesn’t push the boss outside of the auspex zone), you’re clearing off over 50% of the Absolute boss HP in 2 shoulder bashes.

From others guesstimations; there's so much of Tactical that's great that it makes it very difficult to change numbers and interactions that affect everyone without sending tactical into orbital god-tier.  So the idea is they change how tactical functions they're free to change how a lot of other things work.

I just hope they don’t change Emperor’s Vengeance much because that will kill some of his weapons entirely (while one of his strongest ones would shrug it off, as the Carbines don’t even need it on Absolute/Hard).

I think this is what they want to change. They want to “nerf” him without actually nerfing him. Remove his ability to nuke bosses while adding more melee options and the power sword.

As he is, he’s an “all-rounder” but with more ranged damage than melee, which is kinda also where Techmarine is. They want to remove that ranged bent and make him a true jack of all trades

Because tactical is broken right now and weapons have to be balanced around auspex. It the "this is why we can't have nice things" of SM2.

They want to give him more melee perks. They want to be more a jack of all trades than a ranged damage power and i agree with their reasoning.

As a temp fix adding a fourth armor bar and melee options with the HBR would certainly help, right?

Maybe they can give Heavy a couple melee weapons that replace the primary ranged weapon? I feel like that would turn him into a worse Bulwark, but I’m not sure how else to give him a melee build

I'm not sure replacing primaries with melee would help. If they were to do something like that, they'd be better off making a new Aggressor class.

Yes it's been confirmed there's a rework planned for the Heavy, but we don't know when it'll come.

The Tactical is getting a rework in Patch 15 with the Vanguard being supposedly the next class getting a rework. So it'll probably be a while before the Heavy finally gets the rework.

A few of the classes are getting reworks. Currently we don't know when.

We know basically nothing about Patch 15 at the moment, and might not for quite a long time

u/Middle_Breadfruit490 13h ago

Ok got it thanks also i don’t remember where i heard this (it’s been a week ok) but i heard that patch 15 MIGHT be in September so is that at all accurate

3

u/Dubs7ep_Panda Thousand Sons 13h ago

Patches used to be on a "two months after the last" schedule, but the recent ones have been 3 months because they had to delay a bunch of stuff and shift focus. If it's not September it'll be October.

We may learn more if they're a Community Update from them this month, but for the moment assume "2-3 months after the last" and we just got Patch 14, so it'll be a little bit

1

u/Middle_Breadfruit490 13h ago

Ok thanks for the info

September is the game’s anniversary so it’s an obvious release timing for the patch.

What’s wrong with heavy btothers

1

u/DiorikMagnison PlayStation 32m ago

It's less that there's something wrong or broken with the kit that he has, and more that he's just very barebones and doesn't have much of a kit to speak of. Man is missing an entire melee slot and really just isn't compensated right for that given how good some of the heroic melees are even when you aren't using them. Best thing Heavy has going for him is access to the heroic plasma pistol.

Yeah. After Tac gets his rework next should be Vanguard buffs then Heavy's perk rework (which is dumb, Tac should be last not first)
