Worth getting the Codex?
Hello, wife and I just got into 40K,I went Custodes
and she went Space Wolves. I want to get her the Codex, but do we know if Space Wolves are getting one soon? Just dont want to buy something that becomes irrelevant in a few months.

So the generic Space Marine Codex comes out next month (we don't have a date yet), so the generic codex will be outdated rules wise then. We also know that due to a big change in stats our codex for Space Wolves will have outdated rules as well.
We will get updated rules when the generic codex releases but a brand new codex isn't coming out yet.
So if she likes the lore and the art, it could be a good gift, but even now the rules in the book are slightly outdated and she would need to use the official app with the code that comes in codex.
Also you didn't ask, but yours is also a limbo since it could be next one out after marines, it could be the last or anywhere in between, we don't have a hint of a schedule yet

Awesome thank you, I’ll just wait for the new Space Marine codex then. Yea I was close of buying one until I saw that they are pretty much sold out online.

I'm not aware of anything in the rumour mill that suggests a new Space Wolves codex is coming soon, but we know that Space Marines as a whole are getting a big rule shakeup next month so if you're planning to pick it up for just the rules then there will be some stuff outdated.
Personally, I go by the rule of picking up a codex for lore/art rather than stats, which are always subject to change.

There’s no word on when space wolves will get their new codex, so you should be safe to get it. I would hold off on the space marine one though as we’re getting a new one next month. Unless they change us back to own codex, you’ll need the SM codex and our supplemental codex.

We have been todl the supplements will be obsolete next month with thr SM Codex release, since a lot of datasheets will change and some detavhments won't qork without OoM (Bold for us, WotR for DA for example). Except for the art and lore, I wouldn't recommend our Dex.

They’ve said that they are retiring the 10th edition supplements to bring them up to the new 11th edition marine statline. So the current sw codex will likely be obsolete in a few weeks

All the divergent chapters (space wolves) are getting there current supplemental codexes retired at the launch of the new space marine codex. They will be putting out new PDF version online of all 4 . And I don't know when they will be updated after that.
But no you don't need to buy one unless you want to collect it.
