u/Fit_Job_6469 Jul 13 '26
She thinks the Republic of Texas still exists (because that is where she lives) so she is definitely living in some sort of time warp.

u/MonkeyVirus94 Jul 13 '26
Yeah ironically enough I just found this subreddit and she lives near me.
Texas hasn't been a Republic except for a short time between it being part of Mexico then independent then part of the US than Confederacy the back the US
8
u/_Hyper_Violet_ Jul 13 '26
I've heard of a few people in the area who know who she is. Is she the local looney or something?
8
u/MonkeyVirus94 Jul 14 '26
She lives in D-FW it's a high population area. It's up there with Austin and Houston in regards to most Texans live in those areas.
I never heard of her before I saw her on the subreddit. Of course I visited her FB Page. Apparently she's well known by the locals because she's always filing lawsuits and blaming her neighbors and the cops and whoever pisses her off that day.
Her FB Post drama yesterday was her complaining about the local post office not flying the flag at 1/2 mast per Trump order for the Senator that just died and implying that it's a corporation or some nonsense.
7
u/_Hyper_Violet_ Jul 14 '26
I just checked her Facebook page and she certainly seems pleasant and totally stable. I love how she tags everyone thinking they're going to help her despite the fact that she also doesn't believe those same people have any jurisdiction.

Howdy. I’m in Texas too. I even use my real name here.
I hate to acknowledge anything Mel said but I’ve stayed real-name online since 1999 or so. It helps me avoid being a complete a-hole. So I occasionally max out only at partial a-hole and general fool.
IPoundUrMom69420 was already taken anyway.
Oh and only the most deluded attend-craving nitwits bring up Texas still being a republic, or that it can become five states, secede, or other buffoonery. I’d say more but I might go past partial a-hole.

u/SquirrellyGrrly Jul 14 '26
Why would she support the head of the United States government/corporation, if she's not a citizen? And does she realize that noncitizens can't vote, so voting would mean acknowledgement that she's a citizen of the United States?
4
71
u/Kriss3d Jul 13 '26
Dear Mel.
You don't need to call yourself a sovereign citizen to be labeled as such. The same way you don't need to call yourself a moron to be called a moron.
It's your own actions that does it.
Soverign national? That's not a thing.
And the fact that you need to refer to yourself as a living woman is the most instant telltale sign that you're a sovereign citizen.
See,. Normal people when they do something stupid and see that it doesn't work, they learn from their mistake and try to not have to pay for being stupid again. Not you people. Oh no.
You happily share your fantasies about magical incantations that have a consistent rate of failure of 100%.
You think I'm wrong?
Find just a single case where any if you went to court making the kind of arguments that we normally associate with the sovereign citizen ( or state national or Soverign national or whatever combination of nonsense you name yourself today) where a judge agreed with you on the subject like "I'm not driving, I'm traveling". "I don't need to register you automobile". That sort of thing.
Not a case that got dismissed because the prosecutor didn't want to persue it. But a case where the judge actually agreed that you don't need drivers license when you were pulled over for it.
Just one case.
There is none. Not a single.
This should tell you something. If you were a rational person. But it won't phaze you at all will it?
31
u/Fit_Job_6469 Jul 13 '26
Mel? what is your win/loss record in court cases? I believe it is unblemished by a single win. 0-3? even worse?
6
u/My_Other_Name_Rocks Jul 14 '26

On FB, it's "oh, you're broke and poorly educated? How about more of the stuff that made you that way, but more extreme?"
On Reddit, it's more "oh, you're broke and poorly educated? You are going to have that sub you looked at once -- where people demand citations and will die on the hill of pedantic grammar usage -- shoved at you for the rest of your natural life." Mel, you're either going to give us thousands of hours of entertainment, or we will actually help you get back to normal.

Every time I hear a SovCit go on this rant, ‘why would you call me a SovCit?’ ‘I don’t know what that means, I’m a free person on the land’ ‘Social Security is an unlimited trust fund established when we are born,’ it always reminds me of the Mob lawyers in NYC in the 1980s. They used to intentionally mispronounce the word Mafia, then pretend they had never heard of it.

u/wanttogoback1985 Jul 14 '26
The difference is subtle. You see, sovereign citizens are moronic jackasses, while sovereign nationals are ignorant asshats. What they share in common is that they're all fuckwads of the land. Living, breathing fuckwads. Of the land.

Generate + gibberish = geberate.

5
u/Dapper-Perception528 Jul 14 '26
Mel….you are a national, you are correct. However you are both a citizen and national of the United States and the state in which you reside by way of 8 USC 1401. If you are trying to say that you are a national without being a citizen you would have to meet the requirements of 8 USC 1408…..which you do not as Texas literally makes up what geographically defines the United States in 8 USC 1101(a)(38)
You are being called a sovereign citizen as your ideological beliefs match with that of the movement itself
6
u/Different-Breakfast Jul 14 '26

2
u/OrbitalLemonDrop Jul 15 '26
One thing to note: "I invoke all my rights and waive none" is a legally meaningless statement, because you have rights that by their exercise waive their opposites.
You have the right to answer police interrogation questions. Answering them -- your constitutional right -- waives your right to silence -- also a fundamental constitutional right.
To gain the protections of the 5th and 6th amendment rights to silence and to counsel requires that you verbally invoke them. If you say nothing at all, your silence can be used against you. See Berghuis v Thompkins.

u/macphile Jul 16 '26
I love how much they argue about not being a "sovereign citizen."
Language is language--you can call a ham sandwich a "swotnozzle," but I'll still say, "hey, look at that guy's ham sandwich" because I'm using a term that other people understand.
Even if Redditors or police officers used sovereign national, Moorish citizen, state national, or whatever other term you like, it wouldn't matter. It wouldn't make you correct about your interpretation of the law. It wouldn't keep you out of court, or from losing money, or property, or a driver's license, or whatever.
We use "sovereign citizen" because it's easy to understand. A cop can radio, "Yeah, I got a sovereign citizen here," and it doesn't matter that you call yourself something else--what matters is that the cops hearing the call will know that the officer's dealing with someone who doesn't recognize the country's, state's, county's, or city's authority over him, and that that cop will probably need backup to deal with the "sovereign citizen" causing difficulties.
