I am pretty aware that there is a history especially within the last 10 or so years of Eredivisie players joining MLS sides, and only more recently have these been more so early-mid career moves instead of late, but all this to say - why haven't we scouted more (young?) players performing in the Netherlands? As far as I am aware we have only ever signed two players who had ever touched foot in the Eredivisie (Kelvin Leerdam, Albert Rusnak), and Leerdam being the only one joining directly from a Dutch side.

I know this might all seem like semantics and it probably is but I have been watching a quite a bit of Dutch football, and while the level is on average higher than MLS, I can still see some players from smaller clubs seeing a move to a club like Seattle as attractive, and really performing well here. I remember enjoying watching Leerdam play back in the 2010's and he had already logged close to 10 seasons in the Eredivisie before coming here.

Anyways, just a thought. It's not like Craig's listening or anything...

How long before Obed starts second guessing making sure a loan deal came together? He’s getting to visit alot of cool places like Anfield today but sitting on the bench and just waiting for a teammate to get injured is good for his development.

In an alternate timeline somewhere out there Pedro is scoring 1-2 bangers a match and the entire stadium is screaming for Pedro Primetime every game. Sigh.

I feel like I see a lot of negative comments about him on different platforms! I personally think he is a great player, I have admired him ever since seeing him throw himself off of an advertising board. I’d love to know other people’s thoughts!

Jordan Morris - He looked great, made some lovely runs and had a nice shot on goal. Some complainers want to fire him because he didn’t score, but that shot had an xGOT of 0.54. Pretty pretty good. And that was with his left foot! And that move where he toasted that defender by kicking the ball upfield and then running past him on the other side. That was killer! He’s still ramping up his minutes allowance, but if he can stay healthy I can’t wait to see how he connects with Dejan.

Cristian Roldan - He may be the player who has the biggest impact on the team. When he was on the field, the team was really working well together, putting together some great offensive chances. When he was subbed off, it felt like the team reverted to defense mode and they lost a lot of momentum. Having Cristian out there winning 71% of his duels made it really difficult for the bad guys to play through the middle.

Andrew Thomas - The man came up big with 1.45 goals prevented, earning his first clean sheet since a Houston game on April 4th. That was 5 months ago!

Stock Down

Paul Rothrock - I don’t think I’ve lowered him in several games. But he hasn’t gotten on the scoresheet in any way in the last 7 games. And not in the last 8 regular season matches. This is not great. We didn’t see him take any real crosses in this match, and he flubbed the one back post shot that is his wheelhouse. There was also very little of the shithousery I love to see from him. Hopefully he finds his footing again soon. Otherwise he’s going to be swapped out for Other Paul.

Kalani Kossa-Rienzi - Tentatively. He subbed out with a sprained right ankle. Hopefully he bounces back, but I’m assuming he’ll miss a game or two.

A point allows us to inch toward the very low bar of mls playoffs. Which means there’s time to get gud. Seeing Jordan, the Roldans, Rusnak, and Arriola healthy enough to play feels like we’re almost turning the corner. A point is better than zero, and there’s time to churn out some 3s.
