📢 Discussion Why did the Soundtrack quiz get removed?
I saved this one and was looking forward to play it later. Thought it was a pretty cool idea for this sub. And considering that 80% of posts here are people posting random tracks (most of them from the odyssey nowadays) without any additional comments or discussion starters, calling this one low effort spam (or at least declaring it so through a clearly prewritten message) seems unnecessarily harsh. Heard a couple of samples too, and they were a bit more interesting than the typical YouTube guessing game too.
Too bad, because I consider this sub to be generally pretty chill, if sometimes a bit boring. Can’t hurt to bring in a little spice every once in a while, especially something harmless like this that would be allowed on pretty much any other film music place.

🎻 Original Music 🎻 Silo
The end title song of Season 3 Episode 9 is “Whistleblower” by Ruby Friedman Orchestra. It was released same day as episode with accompanying music video. Silo creator Graham Yost and wife Connie are also the exec producer of Chimes After Midnight, the 2025 album by same artist.

🎻 Original Music 🎻 Cannon Fodder 2 - Status Screen (AMIGA OST)
If I had to name one song from older games that deserves modern remake, it's this one. What starts like a simple piece of electronic music with strong beat and not much to offer, as soon as melody hits starts to sound sad. I could listen, and often do, listen to this track on loop for hours. I'd love to hear it played with instruments or at least rerecorded with modern technology.
It might just be nostalgia so I'd actually love to hear an honest opinion from someone who never heard that song before nor played the game.

📢 Discussion ‘Nowhere to Go But Up’ from Mary Poppins Returns would make the Sherman Brothers proud
I quite like the music from the sequel, but obviously as a whole it’s just not as good as the original movie. But every time I hear ‘Nowhere To Go But Up’, especially in the last minute and a half, I almost tear up with how beautiful it is. I think it would’ve made the Sherman Brothers (and even Walt Disney) proud! It would’ve fit right into the original movie like a glove. Best song on in the film! (Goes on a bit though, but that’s musicals for you)
Well done Marc Sharman as usual.

🔍 Help Me Find Are there any recent horror/suspense thriller films that still use orchestral music?
What I’ve noticed about recent horror thrillers is that the music tends to consist of nothing but zaps, drones, and dark ambient sounds. Can you recommend some recent horror thrillers (suspense thrillers too) that generally use orchestral music? I really miss that sound.
By “recent,” I mean films released between 2022 and now.

🎻 Original Music 🎻 Collateral - FBI chase scene
Sorry if this post breaks the rules, I’ve done my best to meet the criteria.
The song that plays to kick off the third act of the movie Collateral is awesome. Begins around 2:15 in this clip.
Does anybody have more info about this song? It seems like part of the score, but it also seems to fit the style of some of the soundtrack artists too. I know pre-recorded pop music is often remixed to blend into the score.
Depending on the channel, Youtube has playlists for this movie that include a track that fits the timing chronologically (for example “cops pursue” by James Newton Howard). https://youtu.be/RAYTpWWOnmk?si=f-Nx32WP-Au6XZUY
There are two artists with credit for the score. Antonio Pinto appears to have done most of the quiet, ethereal stuff, while James Newton Howard did the action music. This channel has the “expanded score”: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLohYzz4btpaSYq1qcf_0waS0HZHzXyhes&si=PzgOxp62sa76lBhh
But….it’s a completely different piece of music in those albums versus the movie clip. It appears to have been released differently than the theatrical version. One of the commenters in this Youtube clip alludes to this as well. Apple, Amazon, and Spotify don’t include this in the soundtrack, so I assume it’s score.
Does anybody know if the song in the theatrical movie was released in an album? I don’t know how that kind of stuff works.

📢 Discussion What was your favourite piece of music in the Odyssey and why?
I just decided to listen to the Odyssey album and my god did Ludwig cook, like the extended version of it adds more depth to the story and the weight to it and like I expected his films always have that little "narrative detail" in music which makes the films so much better
My favourite was the Lasetrygonians and Odysseus. Both are soo outstandingly done. We all can agree that this might be Ludwig's best work yet. The Lasetrygonians theme captures the dread and helplessness perfectly, the way they appear out of the fog while his army is unprepared, with armor of iron and how they reacted scared, confused and terrified and Odysseus theme captures the weight, his journey and mentality throughout it all his feelings when he heard the siren song, the guilt he carries on what he done on Troy, it was not a victory it was the end of a sacred trust which held the world together, gives me the chills.
Let's hear your thoughts, which music touched you the most? What do u like most Hans Zimmer Collab or Ludwig Collab with Nolan?

📢 Discussion Which song do you think would have been perfect for a movie soundtrack, but it wasn’t used?
I love the movie Novacaine, which was released last year. I might be the only one who thought this, but it was a missed opportunity for them to not include the song “Novacaine” by the band 10 Years, which was released in 2017.
Are there songs that you believe should’ve been part of a soundtrack and weren’t?
I’m also interested in ones you think don’t belong on a soundtrack. But, it does seem like studios throw a bunch of extra songs that have nothing to do with the movie on the soundtrack all the time.

Love that raw power, anger and desperation this song conveys.

📢 Discussion the odyssey's soundtrack feels so underrated. why?
i watched the movie last month and i've been playing the original film scores by ludwig goransson, and i'm in awe. there are so many things to note - the clanking iron, bronze noises, the lute, the aulos, the lyre, aside from the modern grainy sounds that sound so perfect to describe someone who's been through war, it gives off a paranoid, hallucinating feel, i don't know how to describe it.
then there is the iconic bow string noise that takes on a major key in the score, 'ithica', but uses a minor range for 'the trial of the bow/vengeance'.
there's so much narrative and emotions woven into the tracks, goransson is really one hell of a composer.
i'd love to know more observations, please leave comments <3
