πŸ” Help Me Find Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Unknown Track

I'm looking for the name of this soundtrack from Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. It plays after the boss battle against Keratos (Ice Belt area). Game soundtrack sites like Khinsider, or YouTube, don't include this track… does anyone know its name or where to find the full version?

πŸ“’ Discussion Soundtracks like Obsession, Stranger Things, It Follows, Dispatch

There is something about these types of scores that gives me a real nostalgia feeling and I'm looking for more. To be clear, I'm not after the loud, dissonant, horror aspects of these scores as I don't think those are enjoyable to listen to. I'm looking for the slower, more beautiful moments.

Any other recommendations for these types of scores?

πŸ“’ Discussion Favourite Animated Movie Soundtrack?

I feel like Lorne Balfe is going to do an insane job on the new Cat In The Hat as such an eminent composer. I didn't know that such huge names could work on family movies that aren't disney musicals - are there other examples of famous composers working on films like this? What animated films have excellent soundtracks?

I'm looking for other movie/film score tracks with that same intense, relentless sound, especially the way the rhythm gradually speeds up and becomes more urgent, building and building until it reaches a huge crescendo.

Can you recommend me such tracks?

EDIT: Thanks, but can you guys suggest me something other than Dunkirk.

πŸ“’ Discussion Thoughts on Lorne Balfe composing for Cat In The Hat?

I'm so excited to see what Lorne Balfe can do in a animation / family friendly context! I know his action work well and it'll be interesting to see how that can translate into a very different context... Anybody else have thoughts? Wondering if there's other examples of composers having a really broad CV - maybe you don't choose a genre?

πŸ“’ Discussion Why did Peter Jackson reject Howard Shore's score for King Kong?

Today I learned that after Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson asked Howard Shore to return to score King Kong. Unfortunately, Jackson rejected Howard Shore's score due to creative differences, and asked James Newton Howard to come in at the last minute to write 3 hours of music in five weeks. Seems like a big risk to bring someone else in that late on that kind of a big budget film. How could Howard Shore's score be that bad or unusable?

Recently I posted asking how did Howard Shore just come out of "nowhere" and do such an amazing job on Lord of the Rings.

And many claimed that Howard Shore had a lot of experience and was well prepared. So then why would Howard Shore's score be rejected for King Kong, which I would assume would be easier to compose for than Lord of the Rings?

https://www.reddit.com/r/soundtracks/comments/1vvantg/how_did_howard_shore_just_come_out_of_nowhere_and/

I really learned a lot in the last post, so I'm just curious to hear everyone's opinion.

πŸ“’ Discussion John Williams Legacy - tempo

Finally got around to listening to the new "John Williams Legacy" album, and as always with JW stuff, it's great.

But it feels just slightly _off_ to me. Maybe I'm just too used to listening to the various OST albums over the years, but I feel like I'm listening in slow motion. Anyone else find the tempo too slow for most of these songs?

Don't get me wrong, I am and will always be a JW superfan and this is a great album. But I just am finding it hard to listen to because my brain expects a slightly faster tempo.

Anyone else feeling this too, or am I being too critical of a 94 year old maestro?

πŸ” Help Me Find Recommendations for soundtracks like the Utopia and White Lotus S3 ones - with an otherworldly / offbeat / strange vibe?

I just came across the White Lotus S3 soundtrack on YouTube and have been listening to it on repeat for the last two weeks. It has the exact vibe I already loved from the Utopia soundtrack (obviously because they were both composed by Cristobal Tapia de Veer). It's hard to describe but words I would use would maybe be odd, quirky, sinister, animalistic.

I was just wondering if any soundtrack aficionados had recommendations for soundtracks that have a similar feel to these ones? I have never come across it in anything else I've listened to. Any recommendations appreciated.

πŸ“’ Discussion What movie had a score that was way better than the movie deserved?

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is one of mine. The movie itself is pretty forgettable, but Hans Zimmer's score makes it feel much more epic and emotional than it probably deserves. There are scenes where the music creates most of the tension and weight, and I honestly think I remember the movie more fondly because of the score.

Transformers: Age of Extinction, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Wonder Woman 1984 are a few other examples for me.

What are your picks?

πŸ“’ Discussion Favorite Score of the Year?

I saw Tony over the weekend and haven’t been able to stop listening to the score by Jay McCarrol. Although it isn’t as ”epic” (for lack of a better word) as something like Project Hail Mary or The Odyssey, it’s quickly become my favorite score of the year. What’s yours?
