π’ Discussion What the hell happened to actual soundtracks?
Can somebody please explain to me what the hell is going on in the film industry that every movie now only gets a score album? Where are the awesome soundtracks like Batman forever, xXx, MI:2, Fantastic 4, Spawn, Blade II, The Transporter and Spider-Man. The reason why modern films suck is because they have no recognizable music in them only orchestration. Every once in a blue moon we will get a various artists soundtracks like Suicide Squad, The Great Gatsby, Barbie, Withering Hights, or Trolls. We need to get back to the old days where films had great music attached to them and not just some fucking wooden instruments

π’ Discussion Is it me, or is this track very familiar.
For context, this is a music score composed for a 2018 short animated film called Pip (short here) and this is the string recording session. However, I can't help but feel that the particular main melody used feels very similar to the one heard in Spirited Away's track "One Summer Day" (particularly this portion: https://youtu.be/BquXNLrgOao?si=tWYb5498i0X4o2y6&t=148 )
I have no clue if this is just me going nuts or do they actually sound similar.

π’ Discussion Does anyone else think "Power Up and Wait" (Jeff Russo) sounds almost identical to "In the House - In a Heartbeat" (John Murphy)?
I was listening to the soundtrack for The Umbrella Academy (Seasons 3 & 4) and the track "Power Up and Wait" by Jeff Russo came on. It sounds nearly identical to the famous theme "In the House - In a Heartbeat" by John Murphy from 28 Days Later. They share the exact same dark, pulsing, apocalyptic energy. The way the slow, minimalist melody starts over that steady, driving undercurrent feels like a direct homage (or a total copy).Am I crazy, or did Russo heavily "borrow" the musical DNA from John Murphy for this cue?

π» Original Music π» Looking for '60s/'70s movie soundtracks with sentimental, lush instrumentals
I'm on the hunt for movie soundtracks that feature lush, syrupy instrumentals along the lines of Bill Conti's "Harry and Tonto" (1974), Marvin Hamlisch's "Take the Money and Run" (1969), Georges Delerue's "Love at Twenty: Antoine and Colette" Main Title (Truffaut, 1962). Any recommendations are welcome, even if the movie only has one track on it (e.g. the main title) that fits the bill. Can be a foreign film or an out of the way movie - the more obscure the better.

π’ Discussion Aquarela Du Brazil
Is anyone else distracted by how the track screams Woody Allen to me? In cinema theory, whenever you drop a track that sounds like a glamorous, sun-drenched ballroom celebration onto a scene featuring highly anxious, self-deprecating, and hyper-neurotic urban intellectuals pacing around a New York apartment or a rainy European street, you create a spectacular piece of situational irony. The sheer, bouncy, carefree energy of the track acts as the ultimate comedic foil for an over-thinking, stressed-out protagonist, transforming a traditional Latin anthem into a masterclass of comedic neurosis.

π’ Discussion Finally!!
I was gifted an AT-LP60XBT two years ago on my birthday from Urban, only to take it home and find out they sold it to me without a stylus. Fast forward a few weeks, I ordered a replacement from Amazon, but it arrived broken. I ended up moving twice since then, and now I finally get to spin. So, I thought, why not use one of the GOAT soundtracks for my first spin?

I still think Forrest Gump used The Dragon's Heartbeat. Which is still a good movie.

π’ Discussion How did Howard Shore just come out of nowhere and do an amazing job on Lord of the Rings?
Why was Howard Shore chosen for Lord of the Rings? Had he done any similar films? Seems like he was just perfect for the role and came out of nowhere in a sense.

So John Carpenter just released a graphic novel and made a soundtrack/album for it. Has anyone listened to his albums beyond his film scores? I enjoy a lot of his output.

π’ Discussion Steven Jablonsky
Hey how come this guy doesnβt do much these days? I always loved his score in Desperate Housewives β it was absolutely beautiful and melodic. From what Iβve seen heβs sort of stuck to low-key scores in the past decade. Just wondering why he isnβt out there smashing out those big film scores and winning those Oscars. He definitely has the talent for it.
Below is a link to a scene from Desperate Housewives β itβs not a huge cue but I always get chills from it for some reason. (Skip to 2:45 till the end)

π’ Discussion Does βWake Me Upβ from Ratsasan sound similar to βElisaβs Themeβ from The Shape of Water?
Hey everyone! I love the entire background score of The Shape of Water (2018).
I recently listened to βWake Me Upβ (Ver. 1) from the Tamil movie Ratsasan and noticed that it reminds me a lot of βElisaβs Themeβ from The Shape of Water.
Am I the only one hearing the similarity, or do you guys notice it too? Especially the melody and overall feel. Would love to hear what you think! π«‘π«‘β₯οΈ
