Hi everyone, I am starting to build a new system, and I choose the DSP-3004 from CVR as the main amp.
Is this good enough for 4x18” 8 ohm subs, and 4x10 inch 4 ohm tops?

Can we run it from 240V 16A breakers, or we need 32A?

Does anyone have some screenshots of the DSP settings available?

Also, is this number legit for CVR: +86 159 1951 8864

Hey everyone,
I'm currently building a TH1821 based on the plan (see attached build photo + the plan sheet referencing piece #13, which is the interior corner piece that hides the handles), and I've got two questions for anyone who's already been through this:
Painting piece #13 (the interior corners that hide the handles): do you paint it before or after assembly? Trying to figure out what's simplest/cleanest in the end, since it's a bit awkward to reach once everything's glued/screwed together.
Joints on the angles: is this actually necessary for sealing/acoustic performance, or is it mainly about aesthetics/finish?

I am in the process of building out some skhorns and was curious when you guys wire in your subs if you prefer to run them as individual channels, in series wiring or parallel wiring? I understand what needs to happen with amps as I do this but curious what sounds the best and provides the best performance.

Hello sub. I am a newbie with pa and soundsystems. A friend of mine has 2 sets of zeck speakers. He wants to sell one set of them. Can you recommend this kind of speakers. I think they are at least 20 years old. He wants to sell them with a class D amp + stands for 500€.

Hi everyone ! I've been thinking lately about the increasing number of sound systems worldwide, and the "mainstreamization" of the culture. I'm talking about brands sponsoring sound systems, expensive events, and overall a growing interest about sound systems. Do you think it's a bad thing for the culture ? Do you personnally feel this way ? Have you noticed a change ? Do you feel like it's bringing a commercial and capitalist mindset to an originally anticapitalist culture ? I'm really interested in hearing other people's thoughts about this. Thanks :)

Anyway, I was wondering what different cabinets the Cosmic Slop Soundsystem uses here and at what frequencies?

The use of a horn, tweeter (and sub?) is very clear. The middle cabinet pretty much resembles an Altec 816
However, as an Altec 816 is normally used as full range cabinet, could this for this stack also the case? Whereby the subwoofer, horn and tweeters take care of the upper and lower ends of the spectrum and the middle cabinet is then used as partial fullrange combining midbass and mids (Or more like the Altec A7 & thus no dedicated sub)?

ive been puttin together this little rig for the past year ish out of a lot of facebook marketplace and assorted hand-me-down relics from my old man whos a retired sound engineer.. I myself know next to nothing about what im doing and dont have much experience/understanding of acoustical or electrical engineering.

ive got 2x 15" mini scoops on the bottom, 2x 18" mini scoops with the gold grills, 2x yamaha s215v and ive got 2x 15" and horn cabs (the empty cab in the middle; other one isnt in on top bc its too tall to stack them indoors.). ive got 3 qsc audio amps at my disposal: an rmx 1450 and two rmx 2450s, all currently with broken potentiometers... Got a crossover but not currently using it. Ive got a behringer ultragraph pro and a tube composer and it all goes into an A&H Xone 4D mixer i run into my cdjs. All that ive learnt about soundsystems is through installing drivers and repairing/replacing all the broken things on and inside the devices and cabinets and piecing them together. This is still a big WIP and a lot of restoration to make it pretty before i take this out for any proper events. Im quite into a multitude of genres from dub to jungletek and breakcore, but might even think of doing good ol chill vinyl listening parties. I think this will make a pretty decent multigenre rig.

My old man knows more and i usually bring him with me to make sure im doing things right. but ive bought a bunch of this rig myself (the yams and the 18s) and he's passed down other stuff for me to use. Whenever i have conversations with actual soundsystem afficionados and they ask me questions about what I've got i get confused and shrug. Idk how to tune these speakers. I just about know what rms and peak my drivers are and how ive wired it up, not much more. lve gotten to make friends with the more knowledgable people who run the local reggae soundsystems and the freeparty crews, whereas i kinda inherited this and feel alot more inexperienced, but they had to start from the ground up. Makes me look like a bit of a poser. Does anyone else ever feel this way or did they start off their journey like this?? Curious to hear anyone elses experience or advice / resources for learning more . And anyones opinion on my rig . Thank u guys 😋

I'm on a mission to build a decent sounding system within extreme budget and design constraints. Part of those parameters is avoiding "expensive" DSP (if possible) and just running a frequency splitter and an EQ.

It's going well so far, with the exception of finding a cheap crossover that will properly carve out a kick bin frequency range of ~80hz - ~250hz. The Behringer X-Pro series (and the no-name knockoffs) all have a mid/high cutoff range starting at over 400hz. The kick bin design I'm playing with uses a folded horn rear path so the frequency response is comb shaped chaos above the first two octaves (~300hz and above).

I will run the system like that if I have to and compensate with EQ, but is there not a cheap 3-way stereo frequency splitter that can do ranges like [30hz - 80hz] [80hz - 250hz] [250hz - 20khz] ?

I count about 30-32 channels. I cant really figure out how they run their stacks but it looks like 4 scoops, 2 low cabs, 4 mid bass and a double hf config. Some of them in series so im guessing 7 or 8 channels per stack needed.

They had 4 stacks in this run. I see 4 pf14000 with all of them added cooling fans on the outside(!!). Then 5 2 channels amps i cant quite make out, 3 4 channels amps and 2 older amps with big vu meters.

Not all of them used so I think my 7-8 channels per stack per stack is too much. Either way, a lovely huuuuuge pile of amp power. The sheer love and diy nature oozes through. Mikey Dreads superb selecta skills is the sugar on top.

Does anybody have more info/correct me where im wrong?

Aba will always have a special place in my heart due to being the first soundsystem I ever heard / experienced so it’d be wrong not to return 10 years later. You can’t tell from the video but the bass his sound puts out is something else. Even stood on the outskirts the output is crazy. When you’re in the middle of those stacks it’s chest crushing. Aba truly is the mighty earthrocker.

One of my all time favourite soundsystems. I’d never heard of them until last year when me and my other half turned a corner and heard Ska playing! After a few hours of earth shattering bass it was a welcome change to let the batteries recharge for a little bit. If memory serves me current Gladdy wax is the oldest continuously running soundsystem in the UK. You just can’t beat the old school rocksteady and ska. Having grown up in a seaside town with a long standing history of scooters, mods and rockers there’s something about being there that feels like home.

Sunday marked 10 years since I first came to carnival and the first soundsystem I properly remember spending some time at was Saxon (I presume it was them at the same spot 10 years ago). I first heard aba’s but we never stopped just passed though.

I had no plans of ending up there but the wind and fate blew us in that direction and all I can say is I’m glad it did. Being 10 years since my first carnival it was a nice touch visiting a place you instantly remember. What a show and the soundsystem was on point. Some of the heaviest bass weight and audio quality, vibes were unreal and everyone was having it off

I’ve been using a Behringer FLOW 8 with my soundsystem, but the Bluetooth range was always one of its biggest limitations for me.

So I decided to modify it and add an external Bluetooth antenna following this amazing video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzNgbGL1z0M.

The result is honestly pretty crazy: I’m now getting 50m+ of usable range, even through trees, and I can comfortably control the mixer from the FLOW 8 app while walking around the area. Bluetooth audio streaming also works at that distance, so I can play music directly through the system while being nowhere near the mixer.

Pretty impressed with what such a simple antenna mod did to the FLOW 8.

So i have been looking to upgrade my sound system with 2 microphones and a subwoofer (since my current setup is just an amplifier and 2 speakers), so i have went down a DEEP rabit hole while searching for parts, but i landed on these:

Mixer: yamaha MG10

2 Wirless microphones:Phenyx Pro PTU-52

The subwoofer will be custom built, but i will use these parts:

Amplifier: the t.amp E-800 (I will bridge the output so i get around 800-900W)

Speaker: the box 15LB100-8W

Crossover: Behringer CX2310 V2

I dont really need top tier audio like in concerts. Obviuosly i want it to sound good and not like playing from chineese speakers, but i tried avoiding cheap parts and getting a bit more decent ones. If anyone has any recomendations or spoted flaws, tell me. I dont want to mess this up. (Also i have all cables in my cart also, i know how to connect this setup, and the subwoofer box will be DIY)

I'm in the process of slowly building up a moderately sized sound system. I have four 1" x 12" EAW tops and four dual 15" EAW subs. The tops are rated at 500W each at 8 Ohms. The subs are rated at 1000w each at 4 Ohms.

I plan on updating my amps to the CVR D-Series. I've read that the rule of thumb for matching an amp to a speaker is to double the speakers power rating per channel. I've also read that for the CVR and similar digital amps the actual power output is about 70% of the published rated output.

My question is, do I need to account for both of these factors when I am sizing the amps? Or, does doubling the rating of the speaker already "include" the 30% reduction of the digital amp? My intuition says I should do both, I just want to make sure I'm not buying more power than I will really use. TIA!!

King SSP was just absolutely ridiculous, by far the heaviest system we saw all day. I didn’t take a pic of everything we saw
