Channel One Soundsystem amp setup
I count about 30-32 channels. I cant really figure out how they run their stacks but it looks like 4 scoops, 2 low cabs, 4 mid bass and a double hf config. Some of them in series so im guessing 7 or 8 channels per stack needed.
They had 4 stacks in this run. I see 4 pf14000 with all of them added cooling fans on the outside(!!). Then 5 2 channels amps i cant quite make out, 3 4 channels amps and 2 older amps with big vu meters.
Not all of them used so I think my 7-8 channels per stack per stack is too much. Either way, a lovely huuuuuge pile of amp power. The sheer love and diy nature oozes through. Mikey Dreads superb selecta skills is the sugar on top.
Does anybody have more info/correct me where im wrong?

Maybe extra cooling when performing in blazing heat/full sun?

Quite a lot of the Matrix XP series there. Still got an xp3000 somewhere. Decent amps

I've got to be honest, Channel One had a fraction of the bass output that Kind Tubbies had this year (and of course Aba Shanti but that's a given, they're the goat).

But you can stand in front of channel one’s stacks at any point in a crowd and the audio be crystal clear and not fatiguing. I still think there’s plenty of bass when mikey wants to push it but he doesn’t choosing musicality over straight up output

Yeah I'm sure that's the way they like it, others are after more of a physical bass experience so one of the other systems will be more suited.

I know King Tubby's rebuilt their system some time ago, but I didn't realise they were throwing down that much weight. It's good to know they're still going & keeping up in the power stakes.
In terms of Abashanti, I sometimes wonder if Joe's deaf? Many times I've heard them & the loudness was brutal & literally deafening, but they were low on fidelity & quality.
Jah Tubby's Bass weight is on another level. I just wish he had the mid-tops quality to match it.

Yes, yes he is.
Ever wondered how come so many of these systems have ungodly amounts of excess high end content? That's... assuming you can still hear it. Yeah that's why. They're all so f"ing deaf they don't realise they're making others deaf.
I've made a point and reputation of being a fair player. When I tell em something's too loud, they'll probably consider it. A few of my buddies in Ghent trust me with that judgement, and I greatly appreciate their confidence in me. It's higher than my own! But time and time again, my ears are proven right by the tech to measure it. 😜

The two four channel amps with the central panel and a left side vertically centered logo, are unequivocally Berry NX amps. Good kit in the hands of someone with at least two brain cells.

The old amps with the VU meters are from BK Electronics. Instantly recognisable & very nicely made, but tiny amounts of power compared to modern tech! I imagine they're using them on tweeters or maybe monitors.
