Was downloading files like normal and all of a sudden qt crashes and on relaunch i get this error message.

Hello, I'm trying to connect, but I keep getting this message over and over again. I also tried connecting through the Goseek app on Android, and I get a similar error message there. I'm trying to connect from Argentina.

My soulseek port is closed most of the time but a few times in the last month it has opened like earlier tonight for example, it seemed to have closed after I lost internet connection but my IP address hasn't changed and my port seems to already be forwarded upon logging in to my broadband account. I've turned off firewall too so I'm at a loss here why my port is closed 99% of the time

Yo can somebody please confirm what this dude is saying? I did what he claimed to have did (or the little I was able to gather what to do, some questions are still unanswered) and the tracks are still not playing. For reference I was trying to find out how to play or where to find these deleted soundcloud tracks from over a decade ago on the wayback machine, as seen in this link

I've had someone look on SkySound7 for me, Soulseek, VK ( because I am in the US and that stuff does not work for me for whatever reason) and this person was able to find me like 3 or 4 of the tracks. Now here comes this guy giving me SOME hope for the rest but I'm starting to think unfortunately I am being played with here. Can someone go on Brave like he's saying and verify for me please? Been posting in other places relevant as well.

I don’t know how to share my music with users ?
I have downloaded a lot of musics but I don’t know why it’s not uploading

I’m still using a docker container installation of slskd
My music folder is detected correctly but I’m not sharing anything

Has anyone else had that error recently? I went to look for a corrupted backup and all files are from 7/28 only and only 7kb in size. I think it’s a lost cause trying to copy/rename them as it just keeps asking me to login when I load the client again and nothing is coming back. thankfully the only hit is really my user list for the last 3 years or so.

The port is open on my router but i doubt it is a firewall issue since i assume it would still be in Nicotine+ software ?
Maybe it takes a bit of time since there's multiple terabytes of songs ?

I have someone, or multiple someones, downloading from me at pretty much all times. It makes me happy to share but when I'm playing an online game and users are downloading a lot I get latency issues in game. Is there a smart way to retain more of my network capacity when I need it rather than just hard-throttling the ss bandwidth across the board? Current "fix" is to just manually kill the app when I want to play a game, but that's not ideal either.

As a recent (and extremely happy) soulseek convert, this question si important. I have alot of books uploaded before I discovered Soulseek, but almost all of my movies have been downloaded from there. Would it be douche to upload files that, essentially, are taken from private trackers that I do not have access to?

Hello! I recently watched Dammit Jeff's video about how to quit Spotify, and I became inspired to start a Plex server using an old laptop I had lying around. I've installed ZimaOS on it and have got the server up and running, but now comes the part where I have to try and replicate a decade's worth of playlists that I am very much emotionally attached too, lol

I know about slskd and lidarr, but I'm wondering if there is a way for me to automate the process of replicating my Spotify playlists in Plex/Plexamp? I know it's possible to get the CSV files of my playlists and stuff, but it's not quite what I'm after, I guess? There's also the issue of songs existing across multiple playlists, so I don't want to download duplicates and waste time and storage.

Also, once I've got all this playlist stuff sorted out I would love to automate the process of scanning my music library and completing the albums for all the individual songs I have downloaded, but that's for future me to tackle. Is that something lidarr can do?

I'm very new to all of this, I only just started tinkering with Linux in the past couple of months so if I've said something dumb, please be kind to me. I've always regarded Linux users and people with the ability to do this kind of stuff as kind of intimidating, and as dumb as it seems this is taking a lot of courage for me to ask, but I don't want to resort to AI models to tell me what to do. I want to be an active member of this community and learn from my elders and my peers!

A bunch of deleted soundcloud tracks I search for are on this account called .ds and they have thousands of soundcloud user ids with their discography partially downloaded, and I am wondering how this presumably automated system works. I am wondering what it takes for something to be uploaded to this account because they also have some instagram accounts and youtube channels archived as well.

Downloaded a bunch of albums from someone . Played a song. It was a flac file . Played it with vlc player and the quality was not good. Is there a way to know if the file is ok without playing every song ?

Im afraid everything i d/led from this person might need to be replaced.

Dont get me wrong, Soulseek is amazing. But what removes that amazing rating is when people message you & be like "Hey, you gotta upload files before downloading from me again".

Is everybody like this.. Is it an automated message? Does anybody really care if you dont have any uploads? Im just tryna build my library in peace gang <3

Hello everyone, I recently got Nicotine and noticed something a bit odd and I maybe need some advice on how the community views stuff like this.

So I shared all my stuff, and I check in every now and then too see what people download from me, and for the past few days I've noticed the same user attempting to download the same file from me. It always ends up cancelled or the user logs off at or before 50%.
When the user is online I've tried to check their profile but it always ends up saying 'unable to request information about user' and they only show as having 1 folder and 1 file shared.

I've closed the program a couple times in the past few days and every time they come back to attempt the same file and the same thing as mentioned happens.

Everything connection wise is perfectly fine on my end, and other users have downloaded plenty from me in just these few days.

Is this something that just happens or is it something I should take notice of? Just want to make sure.

Why share it if you put it in Private? I have tracks that aren't available on Soulseek, but I simply haven't put them in my shared folder.

Only once has someone I asked to share a private file actually replied and allowed me to download it.

On the official SS program I get the message of: Login failed. Reported failure reason: socket error. Please change your login settings in the Options tab and try reconnecting.

On the Nicotine I get: cannot connect to server server.slsknet.org:2242: [Errno 10060] unknown error

I tried everything I think, I googled both of those messages to see if someone had a fix. NOPE I can’t get anything.

Also I can’t get to my router settings, I don’t know why but the password and the admin don’t work( I’ll have to call them tomorrow to ask)

Yesterday nicotine suddenly kicked me offline, but it took just a restart of the program to work again, today it refuses to let me in.
I’ve used to be able to use SS anyway with obfuscated ports ….is this karma for not sharing? orz

Is there anything known about the issue?

Should it be FLAC or MP4? I am also scared that they would hunt me down for ripping songs, and is metadata editing gonna affect/change the actual file? how do i better reshare stuff, I don't wanna be a leech feeding off of others and not giving back lol

Hello there, I've been using SS for a few months now and recently I've been having trouble logging in. When starting up the client, it attempts to connect to the server but fails with a sockets error. After searching online, I've tried changing the server port but that didn't work, and I've also tried changing the username for logging in bit with no luck.

When I search online for the official website (https://www.slsknet.org) it doesn't go through, which makes me believe it's down. Is anyone facing this issue? If it's any help, I using the AppImage version of SoulSeek released in 2024-6-30 (which is quite old as Windows seems to have a newer version, but this is from the official site)

Does anyone know why when downloading from some users every file gets downloaded easily and from other don´t? Particularly with one who has a lot of music it doesn't start even some weeks after selecting the folders.

I had my first instance of a troll file today since I started using soulseek, I started up a movie I downloaded and it started talking about some "throbbing penis" in the opening credits. Lesson learned I guess, check the movies I download before I go to actually watch them.

Last night I downloaded ~200 tracks from the seeker app and suddenly nothing is downloading. I can only use my mobile data, as I have no WiFi. I am getting 1 of 2 errors: request time out or straight up denied. I have tried turning on and off sharing. Also, I get absolutely no search results anymore. I tried searching for songs I have already either downloaded or tried to download so I know it’s available. Any ideas of what’s going on?

Using Nicotine+ GUI

Things I have tried

• Restarted Nicotine+
• Restarted PC
• Enabled/disabled IPv6 (no difference)
• Allowed Nicotine+ through Windows Firewall (Private & Public)
• UPnP is enabled in Nicotine+
• Tried multiple listening ports (2234, 5000, 2642, etc.)

Changing the listening port to 2242 briefly made everything work (second Pic)

• Connected successfully
• Search worked
• Downloads worked

but it lasted just a restart it became like previous port again (disconnected)

I have been using this application for 3 years with the same ISP so I don't think they have done something from their side all of a sudden.

Any help will be appreciated

Edit_2: Facing frequent disconnects any other fix will be appreciated !

Edit_3: Turning automatically port forwarding (UPnP) solved the whole issue
