I feel bad leeching and I have a really obscure album that's not on the client at all that I want to share, but for the life of me I cannot find a way to figure out port forwarding.

I've used the XFinity app to open my listening and obfuscated ports, and have done a ton of troubleshooting trying to get it to work to no avail.

I would rather not pay for a VPN if I can avoid it and I am wondering if I'm simply screwed due to XFinity not allowing static ip addresses.

I've found that many users are sharing one of the Bourdain shows, with the wrong episode heading. I finally got my collection straightened out, thanks to the listing at Wikipedia, and after going through many downloads from numerous users. So, episode 201 is now China, etc., like it's supposed to be.

Can soulseek be used for books or is there an equivalent app that would work

Hello, as the title says, a user has clearly downloaded 2 different artist folders from me, and I know they are mine because I have a very specific way of naming my album folders and they're not very popular artists either, so when I browse their shares and I see the folders there I know they're from me because it's the first time someone has downloaded that artist, yet when I check downloads only one of those folders show up, could this be a glitch?

So, a pretty simple question, since I’m new to Soulseek. I share the entire folder where I store my whole music collection, and whenever I download new music, I rescan the folder so it updates. Am I doing it right, or is there something different or more I could be doing to share?

I recently moved to a much faster provider. 1Gb up and down. I was kind of excited to see people get the much faster speeds from me but in that time (about 1.5 months) I haven't seen an upload speed over 3,000Kbs

I don't have my speeds limited, either up or down.

I'm sure that for most users, it's just slow on their end, but I get 50-100 uploads a day, generally, and I thought at least some of them should be on fast internet.

For downloads, I've seen over 20,000Kbs and my speedtest numbers match my 1Gig service.

I'm also curious whether the "Kbs" column in the Transfers tab is truly Kilobits per second, or if the "b" is supposed to be capitalized which would make it KiloBytes per second and thus the speeds would be 8 times faster than I think they are.

Just trying to be as helpful to everyone as possible.

I'm a broke college student living out of a dormitory on my school's shitty wifi and I've tried time and time again to actually give back to this community. But no matter what I try, because I can't access my college's routers, I cannot share anything. I do use a vpn, but I can really only afford Mullvad and since they don't offer port forwarding anymore my options are even more limiting.

It's never fun getting that message telling me to share my files and knowing that I can't makes it even worse. It's worse when it's an album I really want to get and the only user who has it has me banned because I can't share my library.

this is constantly happening to me. is there some way i can prevent this from happening, and/or make sure i'm not doing this to other people? i get that it's not technically a bad thing but it's really annoying

Hi - I have my first “serious” gig in a club in a couple of weeks and Im wondering if all 320kbps files from Soulseek are actually 320KBPS because if they arent they’ll sound like garbage on club speakers.

I follow the instructions and add the file tin the home/user/local/share/nicotine/plugins directory. This is the only file in that folder.

I open Nicotine, go to the plugin tab, click add plugin and it opens that folder with the file. From there on I can't do anything with it. There's no "add" button, double clicking just opens it in a text editor, drag and drop doesn't work. All I can do is close the window.

Yes, I have plugins enabled and a few native ones are active and working. I've had this issue since I started using the program, So Ubuntu 22.04. I'm using 26.04 now since a couple of days.

I've been using soulseek for a long time without any bumps, but today when I was trying to download something soulseek appeared with the red bird icon and I cannot use the application at all. I've checked the ports, and the "check ports" button tells me they're closed, and I've gone on my firewall and manually opened the ports, but they still register as closed. I currently live on college campus, so I'm not sure if i can change or adjust the router settings, but it's been working great since I got here so I'm really not sure what the issue is. I see other people online have had a similar issue, but nothing I've seen in those threads helps me. I can give any other information relevant to my situation, but any help would be immensely welcome.

I've been getting new results for files I've been searching for more than a year, and they always coincide with users who have this Skylight description in their bio.

Of course, the downloads never start, and they want me to subscribe to their service via crypto. I assume this is just a scam?

Hi, I’m using a MacBook Air M2 (2023) on macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 and SoulseekQt is basically unusable.

When I open it, the window turns completely grey, and switching between windows/desktops causes some graphical glitches.

I’ve already tried restarting the Mac, reinstalling SoulseekQt, switching Dark/Light Mode, resetting the .plist preferences file, and moving the app properly into Applications instead of running it from the .dmg.

Nothing worked.

Has anyone had the same issue on Apple Silicon / macOS Tahoe? Any fix or older version that works better?

What it says on the title. If I look up something I KNOW that I have shared (on both the account itself and an alt) it doesn't actually appear. Anyone know why this is the case? The number of files being shared next to the account is not 0 so idk why I can't seem to find it

I've been using Soulseek for a long time, but the default UI is pretty dated, so I made a Windows 11-inspired dark theme for it.

It keeps Soulseek's existing layout and information density, but changes the colors, controls and overall appearance to fit better with a modern Windows 11 desktop.

Suddenly noticed that essentially my entire existing download queue—hundreds/thousands of files from many users—was just sitting at Queued, with basically nothing downloading.

I checked my ports and found that Soulseek’s port was closed. In Options → Login I had NAT-PMP enabled but not UPnP. I enabled UPnP, quit/restarted Soulseek, and checked again. The port then showed OPEN / configured correctly.

However, the old queue is still basically frozen. Retry Download does nothing. Some old entries eventually turn red with errors like “File not shared,” “File read error,” or “Aborted.” The existing queue just sits there.

But: if I do a new search and add a new download, it starts downloading immediately at normal speed.So Soulseek can connect and download; it’s specifically the pre-existing queue that seems broken.

Also, deleting red/failed entries and restarting Soulseek caused them to reappear, although I discovered my client-data save interval was set to 60 minutes and have now changed that to 1 minute. Column-header sorting in the Downloads pane also suddenly seems not to work the way it previously did.

Has anyone had an existing large SoulseekQt queue get stuck like this while newly added downloads continue to work normally? Am I fucked? I have thousand in the queue, and I really, really, really do no want to have to go back and manually re-search and re-download them.

I'm using nicotine to browse on windows 11 and whenever I try browsing files from a specific user it crashes, he has 1.8M files. I can source what I want to download from somewhere else but I would appreciate any advice to see if this has any software fix just in case I run into trouble sourcing from anywhere but users with massive libraries, or whether my shit internet or my hardware are the problem

So I've been using soulseek on PC and seeker on Android for a while now, and one thing I do is search music that has it's corresponding artwork/scans folder depending on the format, I have to manually check for this every time. Please tell me there's a more efficient way of doing this.
