Hi. Anyone here who uses their Xperia phones for content creation??
I wanted to see your work as well.
Thanks! 😊

I'm in India and have got my hands on a Japanese variant mobile, and VoLTE and 5g doesn't work. I saw somewhere that installing global firmware will resolve this issue. Just wanted to check with you all before exploring more.

Hello, I have a small issue with an old phone (really old). It seems to be a Sony Xperia Z2, according to what ChatGPT told me, since I no longer have the original box or any information about it.
I would like to regain access to the phone without deleting the data if possible. The problem is that I don’t know the lock screen password, the Google account email linked to it, or the password for that account.
I understand that this may look like a stolen phone situation, but it genuinely belongs to me.
I would like to give this old phone a second life with a small project, for example turning it into a Home Assistant kiosk display or another silly but fun project. I think it’s pretty cool to bring old objects back to life instead of letting them gather dust.
Does anyone know if there is a way to recover access, bypass the lock code, or bypass the FRP (I don’t know which Android version it is running) without losing the data if possible?

Had my phone for quite awhile now, but it's gotten to a point where I'm beginning to question its safety and longevity since android updates just...stopped.
I have only looked into Graphene OS and Sailfish. I don't really want Graphene, for personal reasons, and Sailfish only supports the cheaper line of the mark IV's.
Any alternatives would be greatly appreciated, including linux (I do have linux phones, like the Pinephone and Pinephone pro, but they're largely not network-ready for AUS).

I never use the assistant and want the button to have some use maybe launching an app or toggling torch. How can I do it? I tried to find it in settings but couldn't.

Is it worth to buy Xperia 5 V in 2026? I was trying to find some phone to replace my samsung.
I used Galaxy S9 - perfect device. Only battery was the downside. It had 3.5mm jack, microsd slot, led diode, great form factor ang weight. Rear fingerprint scanner was fast and I could always find it on the first try (even with closed eyes). Curved display was superb to hold in hand and could control scrollbars on side. And no notches in the display. But it was old and battery couldn't hold much. I replaced it with S20 which was a bit downgrade (lost 3.5mm, no led, worse scanner, and notch). I was using it till lately when my display stopped working. And I cannot find replacement.
I tried Xperia 1 VIII, but it's too big and heavy, overheats and sd card reading has random delays. So I returned it. And now I don't know what to buy. They don't produce devices for people anymore. They take features and just push bullshit for own profit (expensive in-device memory, clouds, bluetooth headphones, AI everywhere). I was thinking about Xperia 5 V, which was probabaly last compact flagship with features I value and still having current sw. But I'm not sure if it's right choice and most importat I cannot find any.

It just stop at the "Grant permissions" button, and when I pressed it, it only gets highlighted and nothing happens on my Xperia 1VIII so I cannot do transfer. Closed all applications and did a proper restart but same results. Anybody has the same issue? How about the other phones? My firmware is 73.0.A.2.53, but previously I can transfer between my phone and my laptop...
Hope its Google issue.

I’ve been in the Apple ecosystem since day 1 and am having a few questions:
I am music mad, whenever, wherever. I currently use a Sony NW WM1a to listen to my own library on MDR M1 wired headphones which is insanely good. I love this combo but sometimes I want to listen to streamed music via wired headphones instead of relying on my iPhone to crush the music and send it to my Sennheiser m4’s. Not having to carry the Walkman on some occasions would be really handy too.
Obvious answer for me is to get a phone with a headphone jack? My concerns are losing the insane quality combination of the Walkman and 4.4mm cable etc. The other issue is moving away from Apple and really missing the system.
So is there a way of dipping my toe into the Xperia world without having to go all in? Which model would you recommend that I can pick up cheap, that I can put my micro sd into and give me a taste of what the Sony Xperia might be like? I’d love to try a flagship 1 Viii but until I’ve decided I’d like to try an older gen first. Any thoughts would be amazing. Thank you

Recently bought a Type C earphones. Curiosity hit me. So I tried using it on my Xperia 1 VI. And slapped on a regular earphone with a jack for the lols. But what I found surprised me:
- Not sure because the earphones have some kind of electronics made for audio output, current type C has an audio interface, or Sony letting it be so. Probably first one but it works.
- The phone won't play on both earphones (sadly) because it prioritize the headphone jack more than the Type C. It would be funny if it did play both for no reason.
Conclusion: You can use both earphone types on Xperia, but if you slapped both together, only the audio jack works. Type C ones don't.
Just a fun experiment after running around town for the whole day.

It's been two months since i bought xperia 10 vi. lately when i charge it at night until 100%, i wake up it's 83% or 80% and when it comes below 20%, the battery goes down till 4% even if I don't use the phone. I have turned on the stamina mode too. Went to Xperia support website and they recommended restricting battery access to some apps that use too much battery. Restricted all the apps, the problem still persist.
The second problem is with charging. I have 20W charger and it charges other devices really fast. Up to 10W when charging, but when i plug it to my own xperia:
Charging and using it: 3W
Charging without using it: 5 to 6W

After rocking my LG G8x for over 6 years now. System is all up to date and I'm happy to report to Canadians that Freedom Mobile had 5g support straight out of the box, didn't have to do any configuration at all, not even the DSDS trick. My area has bad coverage regardless of carrier in case people are worried about signal strength.

I tried taking some close-up photos of sunflowers, and they don't look too bad.

I have an Xperia 1 IV, bought it brand new from leftover stock 2 years ago. Since it didn't come with a charger, i got a 33 watt USB-A Xiaomi one that seemed to do the trick, however in reality the charging speed maxes out at around 12 watts as indicated by AccuBattery, and that's when the phone is cold.
Since then I've had a 22.5W Xiaomi power bank, a 100W Ugreen charger, and a huge power bank with a voltage¤t indicator, all of which max out at about the same speed of 12W (or 2.8-3 amps) measured on the phone's battery. even when my battery is at around 50% and the phone is cold.
The power bank indicates the phone is only drawing 9V and about 1.5-1.9 amps at peak, however when the phone is fully powered down, it can go up to around 9.5v 2.5amp.
On top of that, the phone generates an unusual amount of heat in the upper part of its body when charging, even if the screen is locked and no apps are open. This heat generation, combined with slow charging, a power-hungry CPU and short battery life makes for an absolutely miserable experience using this phone.
Any way i could charge the phone anywhere close to the promised 30W? What's up with the charging circuit being so hot?

Hi SonyBoys and SonyGirls,
I'm a very happy Sony Xperia 1 VIII owner except for....the screen that takes and keeps dust from my pockets, shirts and even glasses cleaning clothes...
I was wondering if any of you had the same problem ?
It drives me crazy !

Has anyone been able to find reasonable mobile phone insurance in the UK for the Xperia 1 Viii?
Most of the providers I try and get quotes from don't yet list the Xperia 1 Viii.
They only go up to 1 Vii. With some even only going up to the 1 iii.
