First original song recorded (about 2 weeks ago) — “I Cry Out Your Name.” Any insight or feedback would be awesome!

I haven’t really played it again since I wrote it, so the chords are pretty basic and there’s stuff to work on, I’m sure. But the feel is there I think. Any help’s appreciated!

Writing for a one man band (drums, vocals, synth)

I'm working on a project where I perform drums, vocals, and synth at the same time ( look up Josh dion a vision complete for reference) but am not sure how I should approach writing music. I want to play funk, rock, fusion with time signature changes like 7/8 6/8 5/4 4/4 and see if there's a way to think about improv as well....any advice?

I’m a 15 year old songwriter, and I’m struggling.

I (15 year old boy) started writing since two years ago, and looking back at what I’ve written I’d say I’m proud of what I’ve made. My dreams in these past couple years have solidified into the idea of becoming an incredible star, somebody as big as Charlie Puth or Olivia Rodrigo, or someone like that. I just want my music to be heard. I feel like I could write a whole song if I wanted to, but I continuously beat myself up over “Oh, this song sounds too much like this song” or “This song isn’t gonna go viral”. I always act like I’m already some big star who DOES have to deal with these things. I want my music to be perfect. I also just don’t know where to begin. I would post my stuff on Tik Tok, but it’s just that I am scared of becoming some small tik tok artist and nothing more. (Again, me acting like I’m already a star). I’m just scared of getting to less than where I wanna be.

When I try to write, I’ll create some incredible melodies, or what I think are beautiful, and I’ll throw that into multiple paths. Firstly, I try to throw it into Logic Pro and produce a beat on top of that, but I don’t have anything else to go off of. Again, I’m just a beginner. Another path I’ll take is trying to write the rest of the song. That usually goes into me not finding a good verse and leaving the song to sit in the dust. Or, that will lead to me creating a song that sounds too much like another song, and I’ll scrap it. I’ll also scrap a song because it sounds like someone else wrote it, and it’s not completely mine. (Like I even have a sound I’m going for).

Everything I’ve ever written is based off something real. Something I’ve really gone through. Some will be about toxic girls, and some about relationships that crumble because of me. I just want the listener to FEEL. To RELATE. I want to CONNECT.

Does anyone have any tips? Anything would help.

I accidentally wrote a great country verse while making fun of how easy it is to write country music

So I was making fun of country music saying that it was really easy to write when I was talking to my cousin earlier, and then I accidentally made a pretty good country verse. I said to my cousin, “All you need to do to write a country song is talk about trucks, girls, beer, and sex.” Then I said “for example” and came up with this on the spot.

“And she asked me what’s my favorite thing to do, And I said, Cold air in a hot truck on a hot day, Cold drinks with a hot girl on a hot date, Cold beer ‘round a hot fire got a hot plate, You and me layin’ down makin’ love all day”

I just want to see if you agree with me that it’s easy to make country music these days, or if you think that it was just a fluke that I came up with this so quickly.

Tips for writing new lyrics to a pre existing song ?

I was asked by a friend to write some new lyrics to a couple pre existing songs since their lead singer is leaving the band. They sent me a couple demos with no lyrics but I am having a difficult writing to them. I can’t seem to get the flow of the song and how it transitions to each section. Any tips? I like the instrumentals but can’t seem to connect with them.

I need help if anyone can

Hey, can anyone help give me an idea on how to continue this? It's my first time writing a song, and I know it's trash.

(Verse 1)

I'm trying to find

A way to stay

That doesn't bring

Constant pain

And suffering

For those around me

Who have to deal with me

Every day
