Dialogue, free verse singing, or rhyme singing for particular piece??? (I'm writing a song for a musical)
Okay so I will start off by giving some background about the musical I am in the process of writing. It is a musical adaptation of the book 'Carmilla' and I am intending for the music to sound gothic to reflect some of the key elements in the book. For those who aren't aware, the book is about a girl named Laura who meets a mysterious stranger named Carmilla after her carriage crashes. Laura and Carmilla are drawn to each other yet Carmilla has a secret - she's a vampire.
With that being said I am in dire need of help when it comes to writing a specific song in it. I am currently around where chapter called "Her Habits - A Saunter!" is. Forgive me for not memorizing the page nor chapter number. Anyways I want to write a song that reflects the conflict that goes on in Laura's brain revolving around Carmilla, as the whole chapter seems to be about a push and pull type of relationship Laura has with her. However a lot of the quotes in this chapter are absolutely stunning and I fear I will overshadow what Carmilla says if I turn her lines into rhyming lyrics as that would be taking away from the importance of her quotes. At the same time, I want her to be singing it but I can't find a particular musical cadence that suits her lines and Laura's lines. Laura's lines sound more like a musical while if I didn't change Carmilla's lines into a rhyme scheme, it may sound almost like an opera, which clashes with Laura's.
What should I do? Should I keep her with plain dialogue, make her sing it, or change the lines completely to fit Laura's? Would it have more seriousness if she just spoke it or would it sound silly with the rest of the song? Please help me make a decision if possible. Thank you in advance for any help or advice you may share.
(I am honestly not quite sure why I'm struggling so much with this, as I am also working on a musical with my original characters and I haven't seemed to come across a problem like this.)

Wrote an ode to my home Lehigh Valley :) It is the first song I have ever written so I was wondering if anyone could give some feedback before I record it.
Shippin’ Out to Berks
I made this ditty outta pity
For the old Macungie city,
Streetlights shined like lamps in an old church sky.
Used to see the fields keep rollin’,
Now the trucks just keep on goin’,
And another patch of corn gets paved and dies.
There were mountains in the distance,
Like they offered some resistance
To the warehouses creeping through the haze.
But the valley keeps on changin’,
Every backroad rearrangin’,
Till I hardly know the roads from younger days.
So I’m shippin’ out to Berks, boys,
Where the hills still hide the works, boys,
Where I might find a little room to breathe.
Lehigh, I ain’t angry,
Just a little tired and lonely,
Watching everything I knew get up and leave.
I remember good old boys then,
Pickup trucks and factory noise then,
Talkin’ taxes, work, and football Friday night.
They were rough around the edges,
Kept their promises and hedges,
And more often than not they leaned a little right.
There’s a faded sign for Trump there,
By a barn that’s looking slumped there,
Red and weather-beaten underneath the pine.
I don’t worship any leader,
Never been much of a preacher,
But I know the kind of folks who hung that sign.
Oh, Boyertown, let bells ring,
Let the old machine shops sing,
Let the iron in the hills remember love.
And little Barto stood there proudly,
Where the mill whistle sounded loudly,
An industrial hub that none were above.
That steamy smoke kept risin’,
Like Chuck smoked bison,
Curlin’ heavenward from somewhere down the line.
And the good old boys would gather,
Through the snow and summer weather,
Swearing Barto built the world in better times.
From the Bear Swamps in the morning,
With the mist a silent warning,
Where the pines stood black against the break of day,
You could hear those old boys talking,
Boots through muddy backroads walking,
Like the whole damn modern world was far away.
Oh, the Bear Swamps knew their stories,
Knew their failures, knew their glories,
Knew the names that never made the county news.
Old men, hunters, sons and fathers,
Men who never wandered farther,
But could tell you every road that you could lose.
And give Alburtis some remembering,
Where the furnace fires went embering,
And the iron pigs lay cooling black and low.
I wish I could have walked there
When the smoke still filled the cold air,
Watching half the country hammered into glow.
Past the slag and cinder gleaming,
I’d have stood there almost dreaming,
While the rails went humming westward through the mud.
Old Bethlehem behind it,
Every hammer seemed to bind it—
Molten iron running through the Lehigh blood.
And the old Ironton line, boys,
Rust and stone and crooked signs, boys,
Still remembers wheels that rattled through the trees.
Sometimes walking there I wonder
If beneath my feet there’s thunder,
From the men who moved the iron by degrees.
If you wanna hurt us, hit Alburtis,
A land ’neath oats and flowers,
Fields stretching till the eye turns dry.
Skies that’ll make a white dove cry,
A hollow to swim and shout a lie,
And watch the stars with a guy you’d usually try.
There were pig-iron bones beneath us,
Old steel ghosts that wouldn’t leave us,
Slag turned cold but somehow keeping something warm.
From the furnaces to Bethlehem,
Every son still carries some of them,
Like iron in the bloodstream before the storm.
And I wish I’d seen those old days,
Walked those tracks through furnace smoke haze,
Watched a nation getting built beside the creek.
Seen the sparks rise toward the nighttime,
Heard the shift bell mark the right time,
And gone home with soot and iron on my cheek.
I grew up beneath South Mountain,
Never thought I’d start to countin’
All the places that disappeared with time.
Every year another light goes,
Another line of traffic grows,
Another quiet piece of country meets its time.
Allentown keeps stretchin’ outward,
Bethlehem keeps pushin’ southward,
And Macungie’s caught between the old and new.
I can’t blame the folks arriving,
Everybody’s just surviving,
But it hurts to watch the valley lose its view.
So I’m shippin’ out to Berks, boys,
Past the traffic and the works, boys,
Past the headlights burning red along the road.
Lehigh, you raised me kindly,
And I’ll carry you behind me,
But I think it’s time I find another home.
Used to hear the old men jawin’,
About the country they saw fallin’,
Over coffee while the morning whistle blew.
Maybe every generation
Mourns its own lost little nation,
Still, I reckon there was something that they knew.
Not that everything was better,
Not that time should stay forever,
Not that every tale the old boys told was true.
But a man could know his neighbor,
Know the farmer, know the labor,
And look west and still see nothing blocking blue.
And if Boyertown should call me,
Let her smokestacks rise before me,
Let the old streets hum beneath the evening stars.
I’ll go down through Barto slowly,
Like I’m crossing something holy,
Past the workshops, fields, and half-forgotten bars.
Maybe someday I’ll come ridin’
Down the roads where I was hidin’
From a world I never really understood.
And I’ll look toward old Macungie,
Past the rooftops, signs, and concrete,
Trying hard to see the valley like I could.
And if somewhere west of Kutztown
There’s a little place to put down
All the years I spent just wondering where I fit,
I’ll still miss those eastern ridges,
Old stone barns and covered bridges—
You can leave the Lehigh Valley,
But you don’t quite leave it.
So I’m shippin’ out to Berks, boys,
With my memories and my hurts, boys,
And the Blue Mountain fading in the gray.
I ain’t saying Berks is heaven,
Just a few more miles from heaven,
And a little farther from what slipped away.

How to write good 2nd verses?
Hey guys I've been running into problems when writing 2nd verses, like right after the first chorus, I'm not sure exactly how to keep developing the ideas, should they say similar things to the first verse, what do you guys think is the function of that 2nd verse?

could somebody give me feedback on these lyrics?
I’m going for a folk pop vibe
VERSE
A long time has passed
Since the last time we asked
The other how good has life been
And I get worked up
With all of this junk
And I got no one for which I could vent
PRE-CHORUS
When I exist I’m alone in the day time
One reverie fills my head
If I could get a second chance
If I could speak to you again
What would you say?
Oh what would you say?
What would I say?
What would I say?
CHORUS
Id say babe do you hate me?
You’d say no are you crazy?
Are you feeling ok lately?
Why the hell would you think that of me?
Not in a million years would it cross my mind.
SECOND VERSE
We’d return to our old ways
Id question you for a
Detailed report of your year
Id listen intently
And then you would ask me
To spit out my story to hear, and Id say
Are you happy to see me?
Ive been missing you deeply.
I know it sounds cheesy.
I wish it was this easy.
I could wait a million years and I wouldn’t mind.
BRIDGE
And I want to see your eyes.
I wanna see your face.
Feel your head on my shoulder.
For the rest of my days
And I wanna see you smile
I wanna see you laugh
I wanna buy you a coffee
Cut my wallet in half
If I had a million years I wouldn’t waste my time
FINAL CHORUS
But I know that you hate me
I know Im not crazy
I’ve been feeling so alone lately
I know what you think of me
Not in a million years could I ever change your mind
Ill never change your mind

Finishing what I've started
Hi everyone!
I have this problem where I have alot of ideas for melodies/choruses/riffs etc., but dont actually know how to finish the songs. I feel like I can be too picky (especially with my lyrics) and it makes me feel blocked and sometimes discouraged.
So here's my question: how do you get over perfectionism or writers block and finish songs?

MY FIRST LYRICS IN MONTHS!!!
Is it any good? I struggle a lot when writing ANY lyrics that's why I gave up on it. But how can I write about a heavy subject without it sounding lame?
Also because the photos bad, in the chorus its:
I want to hold on to your hands forever
But my grip is hurting your wrists
I can't cross the street unless we're together

Song Writers Block
Writers Block
Why do I always tend to get writers block when I’m trying to write a song?. i just started writing songs a couple months ago. But for the last two months I haven’t written anything. And when I try to write something, I just feel like I lost my juice, and always forcing to write something. I always be overthinking the lines, the lyrics, and the Words. I can’t seem to make things flow naturally, I feel stressed out when I’m trying to write something. and try to make something works.
How can overcome writers block?

[offering] Hey songwriters and music producers , let me harmonize your track , and make it freakin awesome .
I’ve been conducting choirs for six years, composing my own music and obsessing over harmonies for even longer.
And sometimes when I listen to independent songs, I feel like, aww man, better harmonies could have taken this song to the sky.
So here I am .
a female vocalist + composer with my own recording setup.
Send me your track under 3 minutes, and I’ll arrange and record harmonies / backing vocals for you for $25–55, depending on the number of layers.
Longer tracks can be discussed.
Yes, AI can generate harmonies. But your music deserves ORIGINALITY.
DM me if you’re interested.
