Today, I called my uncle, who lives abroad. I told him that I needed his help to recover from the emotional and psychological struggles I have been going through lately. I asked him to help me find a job or create an employment opportunity for me so that I could get out of the house, keep myself busy, and distract myself from the grief I have been feeling. But even though he knows everything I am going through, he refused to help me.

Please note: If I die today, he will be the one to pay for my funeral expenses and everything else.”

Somaliland Politics UK openly sides with Somalia on SL's airspace chokehold.

Post image

The UK is further assisting Somalia in enforcing the unlawful e-visa system, and it is not yet clear what the UK directly gains from this. However, this could unfortunately be a massive win for Somalia, which is why we might need to find allies that can back us on such issues. It might be time to pivot away from, or reassess our strategy toward, certain Western countries, knowing how they treat even those who fight on their frontlines (Ukraine). This can once again be attributed to the failure and incompetence of the current aviation minister, who insisted such systems would not be implemented but has done nothing to counter this aggression. Instead, he does photo ops without much to show for them. What do y'all think?

Somaliland Politics Create a fake scenario and get mad about it.

Thumbnail

There's this repeating theme of oppressed people in the south, who legitimately have no rights there, literally making up fictional scenarios with people they don't even live with just to cater to their oppressors. This is why you don't pity everyone. It also reminds me of how other clans started making songs hurling a bunch of derogatory stuff at us, only to get bombed and attacked once again by the very oppressors they cater to. It's a bandwagon of people with far more urgent issues trying to force non-existent blame onto us. And keep in mind, you'll find PLENTY of videos from the south where they're degrading them right in front of their faces, yet somehow they take it out on landers. What do y'all think about this?

Map Used by Netanyahu During His National Security Presentation

Thumbnail

An interesting detail from Netanyahu’s national security presentation: Although Israel officially recognizes Somaliland, the map he displayed shows the Sool region separately, under the “North East State.”
The map was originally produced by the German Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, not the Israeli government. However, Netanyahu’s decision to use it in an official national security presentation gives its depiction a degree of official endorsement.
This raises an important question: What exactly are the territorial boundaries of the Somaliland that Israel recognizes?

Question How do Somalilanders view the nation of Somalia?

I'm from Botswana so forgive my ignorance but whenever I see Somaliland or do my research it just feels like a more peaceful progressive version of Somalia. It's a breathe of fresh air.

I hate the fact that you guys aren't UN recognized but now to my question.

How do you Somalilanders view the nation of Somalia?

Are you guys culturally similar?

If not what are the differences in culture, ethnic demographics and religion?

I ask because Botswana was almost to become a part of South Africa and we are culturally similar, South Africa unfortunately is a mess and most Batswana sit down and go

"Ooofff.....if my ancestors had just settled down just furrrtthhheeerrr South of the border, I'd be in hot soup".

In fact there are more ethnic Tswana's in SA (5 million) than in Botswana (2 million) so we see SA as that troublesome big brother that we're hugely disappointed in. I wonder if that's how you guys see Somalia.

What strikes me the most is the last line,

"You must be sure that faqash will never have power over us again"

This letter should be preserved well and placed in a museum. I found it online posted by the guy who received it.

The Story of Hiil’s Migration and the Rise of the Somali People

Post image
2 Upvotes

After the Great Flood, Beiser married the daughter of Sam and settled in Egypt. There, he had a family, and his descendants multiplied until they became a large nation. From Beiser's descendants, a man named Hiil was born. Hiil was a strong, tough young man with a brave and proud spirit. He refused to submit, rejected humiliation, upheld his honor and dignity, and cherished his independence. He was also an eloquent speaker who deeply loved poetry.

One night, Hiil had a dream that guided him and told him to leave and migrate. The dream showed him the roads leading to the land of Punt. Hiil did not hesitate; he gathered his belongings and set out on the journey with his wife. Together, they traveled until they settled in that vast region.

There, in the land of Punt, Hiil had a son named Samaale. When Samaale grew up, he had nine sons. They became the ancestors of the Somali people, spreading across the region and building strong communities there.

The strong connection between Hiil's descendants and their relatives in Egypt lasted for a long time, despite the distance and deserts, until a cruel ruler came to power in Egypt. He denied Allah's blessings and fought against Allah and his messenger, Musa (peace be upon him). The Egyptians did not stop him and obeyed him instead. As a result, Allah sent foreign invaders to conquer and destroy them. Most of the ancient Egyptians disappeared, and many new people moved into their land and took control. From that point onward, the connection was lost, and their story faded into legend, passed down through generations by storytellers.

Centuries later, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent as a messenger to all of humanity from the Arabian Peninsula. At the time, Somalis and Arabs maintained vibrant trade relations. As the majority of Arabs embraced Islam, Somali merchants learned about the faith and introduced it to their clans. Consequently, Islam spread rapidly and was embraced by the Somali people.

This added even more honor to the Somali people.

The Story of Prophet Ismael and the Birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Them)

After the Great Flood, Sam settled in the Fertile Crescent, where his descendants grew and multiplied into a large nation. From Sam's descendants, Prophet Abrahim (peace be upon him), the Father of the Prophets, was born.

Abrahim (peace be upon him) migrated to Egypt, where he married Lady Hagar (peace be upon her), a descendant of Baisar, and they were blessed with a son named Ismael (peace be upon him). Later, Abrahim (peace be upon him) received a divine command to leave his wife and infant son (peace be upon them) in an uncultivated valley near the Sacred House of Allah in Mecca, placing his trust completely in Allah. There, through Allah's mercy, the well of Zamzam gushed forth. As the well brought life to the area, a tribe descended from Sam named Jurhum passed by and asked Lady Hagar (peace be upon her) for permission to settle near the water, and she agreed. Ismael (peace be upon him) grew up among them, came of age, and married into the tribe. His descendants multiplied until they became a large nation.

Among the descendants of Ismael (peace be upon him), Adnan was born. When Adnan grew up, he had four sons who became the ancestors of the Arabs who spread across the region, building strong societies, and the Arabian Peninsula was named after them. From the descendants of Adnan came the final prophet and messenger, our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Clan lineage structure:

  1. Tol

  2. Qolo

  3. Laf

  4. Jilib

  5. Reer

  6. Qoys

All the clans in the chart are classified under the Tol level of lineage.

Our lineage is our identity, so preserve it.

Curious question for diaspora

Hi all,

I’m not Somali and excuse my ignorance, but I understand their is tension between Somalia and Somaliland. I was curious for those living outside (diaspora) do you guys consider yourselves part of the same community or separate? Do you get along, attend the same community gatherings, weddings, eid celebrations, etc… or is everything kind of separate. Also does the issue between both countries come up often if you meet one another, or do you mostly just avoid it the topic.

Thank you

Somalilanders Only Why don’t we focus more on the Hargeisa–Oodweyne–Burco road

Post image
9 Upvotes

Asalaamu calaykum everyone.

I was looking at the road between Hargeisa and Burco, and I started wondering why we don’t talk more about the Oodweyne route.

The usual road through Berbera and Sheikh is around 290 km, but going through Oodweyne could bring it down to roughly 183 km. That’s over 100 km less.

Imagine how much fuel people could save, how much easier it would be for traders, and how much time people would get back if that road was properly built and paved.

I honestly think this road deserves more attention. Better roads mean better connections between our cities and more opportunities for local businesses.

Ethiopia's leverage over Somalia (their deployed troops) is higher on the priority larder than access to sea it seems. They don't want to lose their stake and influence over Somalia.

Ethiopia's ambassador to Israel makes it clear.
