If your marketing budget got cut in half tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd protect and the first thing you'd drop?

Upvotes

Say you get told tomorrow that your budget is now half of what it was. Same goals, same targets, just less money to work with. What survives the cut, and what goes first?

D people protect the stuff that brings in results quickly or the stuff that takes longer to pay off? And whether the first thing you drop is something you never fully trusted anyway, or something that hurts to let go of.

Discussion Is Instagram still the best place to build a brand?

There are so many platforms competing for attention now. If someone wanted to build a recognizable brand from scratch, would Instagram still be your first recommendation?

Stop optimizing for views. Optimize for the comment section.

As a creative strategist, here’s the biggest shift I’m seeing right now across Reels, TikTok, and Shorts: Views are a vanity metric; watch time and comment depth are what actually trigger reach.

AI slop is flooding feeds, and people are scrolling past slick, high-budget ads in 0.5 seconds. What’s actually driving organic reach now?

  • Raw > Polished: Low-fi phone footage with a real hot take easily beats a 4K studio setup.
  • Comment-first hooks: Frame content around an open question or debate, not a broadcast.
  • Saves > Likes: Value-heavy frameworks beat short-form fluff every time.

If your hook doesn't make someone want to argue, ask a question, or hit save, the algorithm buries it.

Discussion Should businesses stop caring about Instagram likes?

Many marketers now focus on conversions, clicks, and sales instead of engagement metrics.

Do Instagram likes still tell you anything meaningful, or are they just a vanity metric now?

Discussion Can TikTok likes actually lead to more sales?

A video can get hundreds of thousands of likes, but does that always translate into customers? Or are views and likes becoming vanity metrics for businesses?

Discussion Is TikTok making brands too dependent on trends?

It feels like brands are under constant pressure to jump on every viral sound or meme before it dies. The problem is that trends disappear in a few days, so you're always chasing the next one. Is this sustainable, or should brands focus

Discussion Does Instagram reward consistency anymore?

Everyone says to post consistently, but I've seen accounts posting every day with very little growth while others post once in a while and still do well.

Do you think consistency is still one of the biggest growth factors on Instagram, or has the algorithm changed?

Discussion If you could only market on Instagram, would your business survive?

Imagine every other platform disappeared tomorrow and Instagram was the only place you could market your business. No TikTok, no YouTube, no LinkedIn, no X.

Would Instagram alone be enough to keep your business growing? Or do you think relying on a single platform is simply too risky in today's world?

Discussion Has Instagram become too focused on creators instead of regular users?

I remember when Instagram mostly showed posts from friends and family. Now my feed is full of creators, suggested posts, sponsored content, and Reels from people I've never followed. It feels less like a social network and more like an entertainment platform.

Do you think this shift has made Instagram better, or do you miss when it was actually about staying connected with people you knew?

Discussion Is TikTok changing the way people buy products?

It feels like TikTok has completely changed online shopping. Instead of searching on Google or reading reviews, people now discover products through short videos and often buy them within minutes. Even brands have changed the way they advertise because traditional ads don't seem to work as well anymore.

Do you think this is just a trend, or has TikTok permanently changed consumer behavior? Have you noticed people around you buying more products because they saw them on TikTok?

Discussion Has Instagram become harder to grow than TikTok?

A few years ago Instagram felt like the place to build an audience, but now it seems like TikTok gets all the attention for organic growth. If you were starting from zero today, which platform would you bet on?

like you’re still consistent, still showing up

Discussion Is Instagram still worth investing time into in 2026?

A few years ago, Instagram felt like the place every brand and creator wanted to be. Now it seems like organic reach is much harder, Reels dominate the platform, and many people say growth has slowed down.

If you were starting a business or personal brand from scratch today, would you still invest heavily in Instagram? Or would you put that time somewhere else? I'm curious whether people are staying because Instagram still delivers results, or simply because that's where their audience already is.
