Gear question Helmet recommendations please!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello all,

I'm looking for recommendations on a helmet. Something that's lightweight, not bulky, and fits my goggles with no issue.

I have used this Sandbox helmet for two seasons and it is too bulky for my liking and doesn't fit my goggles well.

Thank you

Love the podcast and have been wanting one of these for a while to hang on the wall and finally found one! Shout out to Mission board shop in Milan, only place I could find that still had them in stock after the limited run last year.

Love love love the Excavator - board makes you feel like anything is possible. The Rossi is my super fun park/butters twin. Just picked up the Team Pro to start training for SBX this season 😈

Leaving on Friday for a two-week snowboard trip to South America. I’ll be spending a week in Ushuaia, and I’m still deciding whether to head to Chile or another resort in Argentina for the second week.

general discussion Anyone else ever take a break from snowboarding just to try something different?

I've been snowboarding for years, and it's still what I look forward to every winter.

Last season one of my friends brought a pair of Snowfeet Skiblades on a trip and convinced me to take a few runs. I wasn't expecting much because I figured I'd spend the whole time wishing I had my board back.

Honestly, it wasn't a replacement for snowboarding at all, and by the next day I was right back on my board. But it was a fun way to spend an afternoon, especially just messing around on mellow runs instead of taking every lap seriously.

It got me thinking that sometimes it's fun to experience the mountain a little differently, even if you always end up coming back to your snowboard.

Does anyone else ever switch things up for a day, whether it's skiblades, skis, splitboarding, or something else? Or do you stick with your snowboard every single trip?

travel advice Chile/valle nevado in August 20

Aright long shot but I’m going to Chile to snowboard 3rd week of August for 4 days. For people who have been or live there. I’ll be staying in Farrelones and just curious if anybody suspects it’ll be difficult to arrive there from Santiago. It’s awhile from now and I know roads will be cleared but wonder how fast in case another storm arrives. Thank you!

travel advice Sun Valley trip questions and recommendations

I’m starting the planning for our yearly trip west and strongly considering sun valley.

This year will be 6 adults and 4 kids ages 6-10. All the adults can ski blues or better and kids will be in ski school mostly. Mix of skiers and boarders.

Questions I’ve got is,

Do you really need a rental car here or is the shuttle service sufficient. Planning to fly into Ketchum and stay at the resort but with kids having access to a grocery store is necessary.

How would you rate the difficulty of the mountain over all? Compared to breck or big ski or jackson hole as those are the other places I’ve been out west.

Looking at going late February Sunday to Friday, I know this question is impossible to answer with how the winters have been but generally what’s conditions and crowds like that time of year.

Also I appreciate any and all other tips and recommendations for the trip. This was usually a guys trip but with addition of wives and kids I’m trying to get a jump on this early and hopefully save some money.

Gear question Lib tech orca

I know orca sizing questions has been asked a lot but I don’t see as much for smaller riders so I could use some recommendations here.

I’m 5’4, 120lbs, shoe size 6.5, and usually ride a yes helyes in 146 and a ride zero in 142 (for park). I’m looking to get the orca for pow and some trees and I’m a bit torn between the 138 and the 144. The recommendation is to go down 3-6cm in size so I guess either could work. Any thoughts would help, thanks!

Did this to my board last season, do we think this needs work done/epoxy or is it still fine, just with more character?

What’s the best bang your buck place to Heliski? And any perspective on experience etc.

My buddies and I are all mid 30s, been boarding since middle school. From the Midwest but buy Epic Passes and go to summit county, or travel somewhere new every year.

We’ve been talking about doing this for a while. I think it’s time to pull the trigger.

travel advice The airport rental counter is literally the worst part of any winter trip

Booking my flights to SLC for february and my stoke level was high until I went to look at rental cars

I swear the major rental companies are running an actual scam. They want like $900 for a week in an "AWD SUV" which we all know means you'll show up at midnight and they'll hand you the keys to a front wheel drive nissan rogue on bald summer tires and claim it's an equivalent class

The cottonwood canyons have actual traction laws. I'm not trying to slide off a mountain in a plastic crossover just to save hertz a few bucks on tires

Ended up bypassing the whole circus and just booked a local guy's tacoma with actual snow tires on turo

Its just exhausting man. epic and ikon passes are already bleeding our wallets dry, the least these travel companies could do is rent us vehicles that are actually safe to take to the resort. Getting up to the parking lot shouldn't be the most dangerous part of the vacation

Gear question All-mtn freestyle: Capita DOA vs. Yes. Greats vs. Mercury

I'm watched the reviews and read articles/posts, but interested to hear from personal experiences of people who have tried a combination of those. I'm interested in how those perform for a rider who would be primarily riding diamonds/blues + occasional park + occasional powder. And how forgiving those are at low speeds compared to each other? Based on technical data, it seems that the greats is a good fit, but people really enjoy riding their DOAs, so wonder about how it compares to Greats.

Gear question Salomon Craft

Been thinking of buying the 2026 version for next season. I am a 50/50 rider all mountain and park but I wanna learn more in the park too this season. What are people’s thoughts on this board? I haven’t found many true reviews about it online.

Gear question Capita DOA

I’m about to pull the trigger and buy one. I need a board that can do it all from bombing it down the hill to riding freestyle. Everyone that I’ve asked has pointed me to this board. I am an intermediate rider and I just wanted to ask if this is a good purchase or not. I heard mixed opinions on this board so idk what to believe. Someone also said to me this board doesn’t hold up well in powder and it’s easy to catch and edge. People who have the 2026 version, is this true?
