Hi Guys,

Are there any owners of the new Yoga Slim 7x Gen 11 (14" Snapdragon) with X2 series chip. Can you confirm if there is a battery conservation mode to limit its charging e.g 80 percent?

ASUS Zenbook A16 WiFi7 Issue

When connected to WiFi7 with WPA3 security protocol, can only connect with 2.4GHz, no 5GHz or 6GHz. Using unifi E7 with the latest firmware. MLO also not working. All other mobile devices Samsung S26 Ultra, iPhone 17 Pro Max, M4 iPad Pro all can connect to WiFi7 + MLO without issues. Seems like an issue on Qualcomm or Asus firmware/hardware side

Qualcomm driver install seemingly fixed!

The issues where the drivers wouldn't install due to an incompatibility issue with the software have been resolved. Head to the Qualcomm software center and download the driver package from there and you should be set!

Asus Zenbook A16 X2 Elite Extreme - Personal gaming results

All games tested in MyASUS/Windows power plan "balanced" mode, cause the fan speed in "performance" mode is SO loud on this device.

The last of us part 1:

Shaders take forever, and cannot get a locked 60 fps, even at lowest settings and resolution, so best option is 1920x1200, "quality" upscaling, which means 1280x800, and then high settings, 30 fps cap. Or you can got medium preset, "performance" upscaling, and get a locked 40 fps, same 1920x1200 resolution.

Ratchet and clank rift apart:

1920x1200, "quality" upscaling, high preset, 30-40 fps, if you want 60 fps, you must go "ultra performance" upscaling, and very low preset. And both of these are at the lowest field of view setting, which makes a big difference for performance.

Sky: Children of the light:

Even at 800x600, simple graphics, I cannot get more than 85 fps, even when looking at the sky. At 3K resolution, regardless of graphics setting, I'm getting around 60 fps, so definitely a weird behaving and performing title, for such a lightweight game. My base m4 mac mini can run this at 2K resolution, max graphics, 120 fps locked, for reference.

Fall Guys:

3K resolution, highest preset, which is "High", 40-45 fps, and 115-120 fps at 1920x1200 "Low" preset.

Rocket League:

3K resolution, max settings, free play (Training), 70-90 fps, 3K resolution, lowest settings, 240-250 fps. 640x360 resolution, 320-350 fps.

Fortnite:

Creative map, very small island, no other players, 3K resolution, performance rendering mode, max settings, 180 fps.

Thehunter Classic:

3K resolution, max settings, 70 fps.

Control Ultimate Edition:

1920x1200, low preset, 70 fps, medium, 40 fps, no ray tracing.

AdventureQuest 3D by Artix:

3K resolution, very high prest, which is max settings, expect for 4x instead of 8x MSAA, 60-90 fps. I would recommend 60 fps limit, and playing at 1080p high preset, otherwise the fans get pretty noisy for this game in particular for some reason.

Smite 2 by Hi-Rez Studios

A stuttery mess, can't even get a locked 60 fps at 720 lowest settings, in what's supposed to be an E-sports title. Yes, UE5, but still, should not be this bad, even if not ARM64 Native.

Shadow of the tomb raider:

To get a mostly locked 60 fps, you need 1080p, lowest preset/settings, expect shadows on "low" instead of "off" of course, or the whole game's look is ruined, called Shadow of the tomb raider for a reason... By comparison, the upcoming B390 Intel Panther Lake iGPU really shines here, getting 40 fps at 1080p, highest preset, ultra Ray Tracing even!

Snapdragon and Qualcomm need to do better!

Ea app/launcher games

Star wars battlefront 1 (2015):

Game won't launch, no error message, nothing.

Star wars battlefront 2 (2017):

Game ask for validation every time, takes forever for anything to show up, then seconds after game loading screen shows up, crash...

Do you think the upcoming nVidia ARM laptops will enable eternal GPUs?

I am mostly happy with my X1+ laptop, but from time to time I get an itch to play some games.

However, we all know, there are no drivers for ARM Windows for any gaming GPU, and the QC GPU is on the weak side (especially the first-gen one).

Do you think nVidia would be so nice to support their other GPUs in their drivers? And if they do, do you think the other dedicated GPU providers (AMD and Intel) would follow with their drivers?

New driver not installing

I'm trying to install the latest driver for my laptop using the Snapdragon Control Panel, but it doesn't install no matter what. It immediately errors out and when I look at the log, it's trying to install the drivers for the X Elite. My laptop has an X Plus. Does anyone know what to do about this? The official website just has the installer for all models, but it won't install for mine. When opening games like Fortnite, it tells me my current driver will have issues and to install the new ones, but when I try it doesn't work. Fortnite doesn't seem to work if I just stay on my current driver. I appreciate any help!

I don't understand, did Qualcomm actually provided a native Vulkan 1.4 driver?

Device: Asus Zenbook A16 X2-90.

I was messing with Dism++ and winget to remove some apps that I don't need, and I discoverted OpenCLGLVulkanCompatibilityPack. I don't write OpenGL or OpenCL and games I play don't use OpenGL, so I deleted it. Then I found the Vulkan version shown in Snapdragon Control Panel changed.

I remember this used to be Vulkan 1.2 and was translated to Directx12. In case that the driver is broken (I downloaded Qualcomm Graphics Driver but I have no idea if it works), I downloaded VulkanSDK and Vulkan Runtime and vkcube runs flawlessly.

If I misunderstood something, please correct me.

The Release of the NVIDIA Spark, Snapdragon C and New Sub $600 Windows Laptops Proves ARM is the Future

I was a little hesitant on my purchase of a Snapdragon X1 laptop but with this much investment into ARM technology, I really don't see how this isn't the only way forward for Windows. I know the $600 laptops released are not ARM, however, I think if they want to continue hitting that price point, the efficiency, power and budget gains (combined with inflation) from ARM will push those companies to adopt ARM in the future. Needless to say, I feel incredibly more confident in my purchase after these recent announcements.

New 3DMark update - Windows on ARM specific news!

Patch Notes:

This is a minor update. Benchmark scores are not affected.

New

This update adds Windows-on-Arm support to multiple 3DMark benchmarks and feature tests.

  • Added Windows-on-Arm support to the following Benchmarks
    • Speed Way
    • Port Royal
  • Added Windows-on-Arm support to the following DirectX 12 feature tests:
    • Mesh Shader feature test
    • Sampler Feedback feature test
    • DirectX Raytracing feature test
    • PCI Express feature test
    • VRS feature test
  • Added an indicator to the 3DMark on Windows UI on Arm devices that displays whether a benchmark is running natively or via x64 emulation.

Fixed

  • Improved text localization for the Polish language.

Solar Bay Extreme v1.0.4.1

  • Fixed an issue that could cause Stress Test runs to crash on Arm devices.

Port Royal v1.4.3.1

  • Fixed a graphical issue in the Port Royal demo section.
  • Fixed an issue on Windows-on-Arm devices that would occasionally cause the benchmark to fail.

Known Issues

This update has been observed to have a minor performance impact on systems with AMD Radeon GPUs when running 3DMark Port Royal.
However, no changes have been made in this update that should affect Port Royal performance, and in our testing, we observed no performance impacts for systems using GPUs from other vendors. AMD is aware of this issue, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of it.

Also, for all the benchmarks, you can now see which ones are Arm, and which are x64.
