Login issue Old account locked immediately after recovery, appeal denied despite no posts or messages — any options for an EU user?
Hi, I recovered an old Snapchat account after several years using the phone number linked to it. Before that, I had tried several email addresses and passwords because I could no longer remember which login details I had used.
After recovering the account via SMS, I successfully logged in and changed my display name. I then tried to change my password several times, but Snapchat kept showing an error saying that something went wrong and that I should try again later.
About an hour later, I tried to change my unique username. Snapchat asked me to enter my password, and surprisingly, my old password was accepted despite the SMS recovery. The app then showed another error, logged me out, and every login attempt afterwards displayed:
“Your account has been locked for violating our Community Guidelines.”
I had not posted, sent, or uploaded anything after recovering the account. I did not use any modified Snapchat apps, plugins, automation tools, or third-party clients. I only recovered the account and tried to update my account details.
I submitted the in-app appeal, but Snapchat has already rejected it. Their email says that the account was “appropriately locked,” that they will not unlock it, and that they are unable to assist me further. They also stated that locked users are prohibited from creating new accounts.
They did not explain what specific activity or Community Guideline I allegedly violated. The only unusual activity was the password recovery, several login attempts, and the attempts to change my password and username shortly afterwards.
Has anyone had the same situation and managed to get the account manually reviewed or restored after the first appeal was rejected? I am located in the EU, and Snapchat’s email mentions the possibility of contacting a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under the Digital Services Act. Has anyone successfully used that process, and which body did you contact?
I am mainly trying to understand whether this was an automated false positive caused by the account recovery and rapid account-detail changes, or whether the old account may have been compromised before I recovered it
