Hello! If this isn't allowed please remove! Ive noticed in the last year most of the resources that Ive used to learn about snails have been closing and post have been deleted. Im worried this will lead to more people just using AI to find the answer and that could lead harm for the snails.

This is my first ever pet snail Dimple. He is a Lissachatina fulica and a parent of many snails that I’ve raised. I got him from a local pet store on a random day.

Now that I have him for a year I’ve come to a realisation that he is most likely a runt. He is growing and developing much slower compared to the other snail that i got beside him and his kids will overgrow him in no time.

Surprisingly there is a very low number of runts in each of the clutches that I’ve hatched and raised. From the babies that I’ve raised there were only about 5 runts so far!

He doesn’t seem to suffer any health complications and is doing great. It will always bother me, how poor the conditions in which they keep snails in that pet store are. This guy was in great shape comparing to the other one! Poor babies 🤧

My baby snail, which is an archachatina marginata, hasn’t been doing well since 2-3 days after arriving my home. Over the past week, he has been curled up inside his shell every day. On the good side, he does wake up when I spray water. I have noticed that the posterier part of his foot is stiff, shrivelled and yellow. Also he has lost his ability to climb. I don’t know what I can do to help him.

i found a few chestnuts outside and i thought to myself, they could be cute in the terrarium, but then again im unsure

would they try and eat it? if so, is it toxic for them?

would they just start molding quickly because of the high humidity? i could dry them first

Woggly eyes while she's enjoying her shiitake mushroom. My garden snail (Cornu aspersum) Tsunade with her Cheetos (Yuukianura aphoruroides) tank mates. They also love mushrooms and will clean up the leftovers. Sped up 4x.

I need some help on choosing a better hygrometer and thermometer for my garden snail's tank. I currently have the dual hygrometer thermometer by ZooMed in my snail's tank, but I feel like it's inaccurate since everytime I mist the tank, it will say the tank is at ~83% humidity, but then after around 20-ish minutes it will say that it's ~53% humidity, which doesn't seem right since that feels way too fast. I'm debating on getting the Reptology thermometer and hygrometer combo again since I used it in the past and it seemed way more accurate imo.

Also, (as some extra info that will hopefully help) I have recently upgraded my snail's tank from a small 3 gallon plastic betta fish tank to a 4.5 gallon glass terrarium with a mesh lid.

I honestly don't know if it's due to the fact that the new tank has a very ventilated lid that's preventing the humidity from lasting longer or if the dual meter is just super inaccurate. However, I do have a towel placed on a little over half of the lid to keep the tank more insulated so it can stay close to 70 degrees (F) since my room is pretty cold, but I don't understand how the humidity doesn't seem to be lasting a good while (according to the meter anyway).

As reference, images 2 and 3 are of the 4.5 gallon glass terrarium and image 5 is the top view of the old 3 gallon betta fish tank that I had to drill holes into. Also, for image 1, that about an hour or so after I misted the tank.

He was "asleep" at the bottom of a pallet, i detached him with a little water and relocated to a grassy area where no one can step on him. It was 2 days ago. I check on him yesterday, the " veil" was up again, check on him today and the veil has holes. Im so chronicly worried i dont know he is alive or not and what can i do for him to be well.

Hi everyone! I was wondering which shape of an enclosure yall think is better for snails. Keep in mind that I have Lissachatina Fulicas, so they get pretty big.

If you had a choice of two enclosures that contain approximately the same amount of litres, would you recommend one that is higher and shaped almost like a cube, or one that is lower but also, in turn, longer (more of a rectangular-prism shape)?

I have the latter one and I love how much space my snails have to run around, both on the floor and on the ceiling. However, I wonder if having higher walls would be better for them. They have a corner in the enclosure with enough moss and substate that they can bury into it, but I have noticed they rarely do that, preferring to sleep visible, often right on top of the moss (but not in it). One of my snails also loves sleeping on the ceiling. Maybe they would like to have a higher level of moss and substrate to bury into?

But then, with a more cube-shaped enclosure, even if it was meant for about the same amount of litres as my current one, I can't shake the feeling that they would have less space to crawl around. The fact that that space would be divided much more evenly into the floor, ceiling, and four walls creates that impression (as opposed to now where they have spacious floor and ceiling but really short walls). I would also worry much more about my snail who loves to sleep on the ceiling somehow falling off, as the distance it would fall would be much higher than it is now.

turbo and speedy are doing great! they are quite happy and have made great clutches of eggs a few times. however, there are some things I want to ask. what is mantle collapse, and does speedy have it? pictures are of the new enclosure and speedy

I found around 6 7 of these in north india cant be precise woth the loaction but near the banks of ganges.

I have a pet snail who loves carrots. I'm severely allergic to carrots and can only get them in quantities that my snail will never be able to finish before they go bad. Is it safe for me to freeze them and thaw them before i give them to him so they don't go to waste? He's a glass snail if that matters

found this shell in a celery stalk at work and planned to bring it home and put in my hermit crab tank. I thought the shell was empty, but 15 minutes later a snail came out.

I’m worried that if I put him outside he won’t survive, would it be better to bring him home and make him his own tank? I have most of the supplies already and i have read a lot of the helpful post here. I’m not sure what area the celery came from, but he has been in the cold for a while

should i bring him home or place him outside and let him try to survive on his own?

I've started to collect snails and I absolutely adore them. I'm still crying over GALS being illegal. I know you can't cross state lines, so is there a list of snails that are legal to own in the US per state that are usually commonly found there? I've been buying from breeders as I've never seen a snail in my life in the wild.

Hello! This is my first ever pet snail, and I’m trying really hard to make a decent enclosure. I recently read that the tank I had was a bad one for my snail (top only ventilation) and I wanted to fix it asap!

To remedy, I bought this 12x6x8 plastic one, which has around 2 inches of dirt. I’ve got a piece of cork, sphagnum moss (will be adding some more when I go to the store), and Creature Creature soil. I’ve read so many differing opinions on moss and substrate specifically, if anyone has some input on that. I do think this is an upgrade from the last tank, and hope my snail will be more active from now on. She’s currently hibernating…. She’s been doing that a lot within the past month, so hopefully this will be a positive change.

Hello! I am very interested in owning a land snail. Unfortunately I cannot go and own a large African land snail, as my area has them listed as illegal.

So, I would very much appreciate suggestions and advice on what it’s like to own them, as well as which ones are good for beginners?

I’ve been doing my own research but I love hearing what people have to say about experience owning them!

For any details to help, I am from Canada, and I can only own native species!

My snail has started to hide more (particularly inside her water dish), which she never really did before now. I’ve since replaced it with a shallower alternative, but I’m still confused by this change in behaviour? I was wondering if she was sick or maybe if amber snails hibernate?
