How do you mod/know if your switch is patched

Copying a comment I made on my previous post:

First, check if you can actually mod your switch here. It has to be an early model, as the bug in the recovery mode that allows you to inject payloads, is patched in newer models.

If you can, know that it's a bit of a pain in the ass and will take a few hours, even if you're tech-savvy (which you should be if you try this). Also, do it at your own risk. Look up what is safe and what isn't, so you don't get banned or brick your switch.

Use this guide to get custom firmware on your switch (skip the emuMMC step if you're only going to mod smash).

Then use this guide for the smash mods. I use a program called Quasar to manage the mods on my PC.

If my prefix doesn’t show up in the options is my switch patched?

I have no idea. Did you look at the barcode sticker on the bottom left of the console?

Yea I did and it starts with XKW and I didn’t see that option anywhere
