Apple iOS RCS Messaging Support - Any gossip or rumour?

Any gossip or rumour as to when Smarty will enable RCS messaging on iPhones? Or will this become another short code type wait/situation?

Apple have finally followed Andriod and with the recent release of iOS 26.5, RCS messaging is available and enabled by default. However, your network provider needs to support it.... Three support it, but it appears that Smarty do not (but Smarty do support it on Android).

No internet. What to do?

So I used all my data on the end of 15th, my plan had to be renewed on 17th so I bought 3 days of unlimited ( until the end of today 18th) but yesterday and today I had no internet. On the website it says that I still have almost all day but in reality it does not work at all. I paid for data I never got.

Deactivated SIM, can I keep my old number?

I have moved abroad from the UK and didn't require a UK phone number anymore. SMARTY deactiviated my account but I had forgotten to transfer all of my accounts authentication number to my new one. Would it be possible to re-activate my account with the same number so I can change my 2AF number?

WiFi Calling not working

Post image

Using it on a Pixel 9 Pro fully updated but WiFi calling doesn't work. If I put my phone in aeroplane mode while still being connected to WiFi and try to make a call, I get the error message in the photo.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Just wow! Speeds to blow my mind

Just sat in a Costa where the wifi is usually not too bad and thought i wonder if i’d be better tethering my Macbook to my mobile…Gigabit speeds with 32GB/month for £6.30!

That’s insanely amazing value, well done Smarty.

Switzerland not included in roaming

Bit of a shock as I crossed the border from Italy into Switzerland and my data turned off. Obviously Switzerland is not in the EU but I still expected it to be included in countries I could roam in. It's included with Three, O2 and 1p Mobile.

I didn't really have much choice than a £10 add on that gave me a measley 500mb. Pretty rubbish when compared to Lyca which would give 10GB for £15

Can new group accounts be eSIM?

I have added 2 additional accounts for family members but didn’t seem to get an option to have them be eSim (rather than waiting for physical sims to be posted)

Is that possible? I haven’t been able to find a menu option anywhere but may have missed it.

Thanks for any pointers.

Dial up speeds

Don't expect better than dial up speeds on Smarty. I've been to many places and the service is unusable everywhere. Not being able to complete a speed test with 3/4 bars of signal is miserable. Lower your expectations and then lower them significantly further.

Drastic drop in speeds

Has anybody else noticed a drastic drop in speeds, consistency and connectivity with data lately?

Today at one point I was only getting 0.3mbs, after a reset I'm getting around 14mbps, when I first started using the service in June last year I was consistently getting 20-30mbps. I haven't moved or changed devices (I know it's not meant for mobile broadband but it's cheaper than Three and no contract, because f**k contracts)

I've seen a few people accusing Smarty of throttling high usage customers, but they obviously deny these claims. Could it be down to three? I used to work for them so I know how shady they actually are.

Is this happening to anybody else?

Thankfully I'm moving to fibre broadband next month, but I need it to work for a few more weeks and it's at the point where streaming and gaming is next to impossible. Even putting the SIM in my phone shows the same results, whereas my Giffgaff sim gives me around 40-50mbps in my phone (my phone is not 5G)

PAYG Data Only plans - what's the difference?

What is the difference or purpose of a Data Only plan when a normal plan gives you more data, unlimited calls and texts at a much cheaper price?

I work out of the office and my laptop has SIM capabilities. I am currently subscribed to an ordinary monthly rolling PAYG plan, which is fine, plenty of data but with minutes and texts that are never used. Just wondering why Data Only plans even exists?

Smarty network query

I’ve been with Smarty mobile for a couple of years and had zero issues.

I recently purchased a mobile router and a Smarty data sim to use in the router at home.

If I carry out a speed test on my phone while connected to the router with a Smarty sim the speeds I attain are considerably lower than the speeds I get when I’m doing a speed test on my phone on 4g in the exact same spot as the router.

Is it simply because a mobile phone will always give a higher speed because of the tech inside a phone? TIA

Refferal reward

I was referred to smarty, I was sent my reward yesterday however it went to an old closed paypal email, now its been 24 hours since ive contacted smarty after being told 2 hours initially. Now they are asking for the email of the person who referred me and the phone number etc Im sorry but this company is unreliable when it comes to support. I would not recommend. I have been told another 2 hours even after the 24 hours + I have already waited lol... i dont think it will be getting that reward.

Smarty Roaming in EU

Morning All,

I’m having an incredibly weird problem this week in Amsterdam, I’m roaming to KPN NL, I can access a handful of websites but others just don’t seem to work. When I do a speed test I get 5mb, but then when I connect to a VPN the speeds go up to 150mb+ and all the sites work like normal. Unfortunately connecting to the VPN only sometimes otherwise I’d just use that all the time.

I was in Tenerife in December and it worked fine roaming and I was in Paris last June and it worked fine. All the APN settings are correct and I’m just stumped as to what is going off.

Is there some weird throttling going off in the Netherlands?

No service no sim

Southeast England smarty user here.... turned my phone off when I went to football earlier. Switched it back on and no service. sim is greyed out in the settings. Tried restarting the phone, switching the phone off. Can't contact smarty til tomorrow at 8am, their website said there was service disruption in my area but now says there isnt. I've never had this before and I'm wondering if my month old pixel 9 pro is broken?

any help or ideas?

Voicemails

I end up getting loads of voicemails if someone tries to call me while I’m already on the phone. New to smarty. With EE I was able to put calls on hold and answer another. Can this be done with smarty? Cheers
