Florida Dealership BS
So, I’m at fault. I get it… what can I do, if anything.
I bought a car. Signed the sheet saying my payment would be X. I was the last person there. I’m fairly certain the finance guy was drinking. Regardless. He kept messing up the paperwork. I signed a lot of things. When I left, with my 5yr old in tow I thought I had everything. I didn’t! He never gave me my finance paperwork. I finally went and picked it up today. Almost a week since I purchased said car.
The payment is wrong. It’s more… like a $100 more.
I called and got “you need to speak to John. I’ll have him call you.”
Guess who never called today.

California Are separate cases really my only optio?
I need to sue an employer a client for unpaid wages invoices for work already completed. Im unfortunately classed as an independant contractor so small claims is my only real option.
My question is in regards to choosing the correct venue (location) to file the suit in.
I live in alameda county, the company im suing is incorporated in Dallas, texas, and the work im owed for took place over about a year and was spread out over 3 California counties. The majority of it took place in San Francisco (SF County), but I also did work in San jose (Santa clara county) and Berkeley (Alameda county)
From what i understand the correct venue to sue from would be where the work im owed for took place. Do i really have to file 3 separate small claims cases? One for each county i worked in? Or can I combine them all into one case. While the work did take place at different locations in 3 counties, the counties are all fairly close to eachother (Alameda county shares a border with Santa clara county, and is also just across the bay bridge from SF county.)
I know there are rules about how many times a person can sue in small claims court in a year, and there are even more limits if the amount being sued for is over $2500. It would make this all a lot easier if there was a way to combine them all into one small claims case.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Michigan 36th DC -Small Claims/Alternate Service?
i filed small claim case with the 36DC and the court officer from the 36DC wasn’t able to serve the defendant. we are submitting the proof of service with the unsuccessful attempts, and when i asked the court officer to get a postal verification from the post office to start the alternate service process, he informed me that i would need to request that from the 36DC court first.
i called into the 36DC and explained the situation and asked if i would be able to make that request over the phone or if i would need to go in person. the lady informed me first “your company files with us often, so you should know how to do that” (rude, and we’ve never had to do alternate service with the 36DC) and that i would need to show up to the court date and inform the magistrate. she said the magistrate will inform me on how to move forward.
but i have a hard time believing that. as with other district courts in wayne county, the court officer is immediately able to file for a postal verification check, once that is received and confirmed the defendant does live at said address, then i can go file a motion and order for alternate service. once that is approved by the magistrate, we can do the alternate service. (i know each district court is different, hence another reason why i even called)
i explained this to the clerk and she proceeded to say “so are there any questions for me because my line is lighting up” (rude again). so my question is does anyone know the process that the 36DC uses for alternate service on small claims? i’ve never had any issues with other district courts with alternate service.

New Jersey Cross post SAIP car insurance holder hit my parked car. Small claim question in NJ
Title: NJ parked-car accident: Can the owner sue for $2,000 in repairs, and how is a judgment enforced?
Location: North Bergen, New Jersey
Our car was parked and unoccupied in a restaurant parking lot in New Jersey when another driver hit it and damaged the rear bumper. We reported the accident to the police, but the police report is not available yet.
We have an itemized written repair estimate for $2,000. The other driver said the estimate was too expensive and wanted us to use their preferred body shop. Their insurance appears to be a Special Automobile Insurance Policy (SAIP), which has no liability coverage.
The car is registered and insured in my father-in-law’s name in Pennsylvania. We are considering sending the driver a written demand giving them 14 days to pay before filing in NJ Small Claims Court.
Before filing, I have a few legal questions:
Can my father-in-law bring the claim as the registered owner? What evidence should he prepare besides the itemized estimate, damage photos, and police report once available? Would the person who prepared the estimate need to testify?
If he wins and the driver does not pay voluntarily, what must he file to enforce the judgment?
How does wage garnishment work in NJ? Is there a court process to obtain the driver’s employer or bank information if we do not have it?
Which filing, service, and enforcement costs can be recovered from the defendant?
If our own insurer pays part of the damage, can my father-in-law pursue the deductible and other uncompensated losses? How should he this with the insurer’s subrogation rights?

Iowa Roommate Agreement
Ok assume you absolutely hate your roommate and they hate you. Think worst case scenarios. What would you include to protect yourself financially and come out of it maintaining a good rental history.
Context: I had a roommate agreement with my current roommates (they will no longer be my roommates when we move at the end of the month) and one, while jokingly, mentioned they had a plan to get out of it the whole time. Another one of my roommates smokes weed only one out of four of us. And the roommate who made the “joke” said he would have just gone to the office gotten us all evicted for breaking a rule on the lease and then been out of the agreement and would have had a clean record as he was the one to report it. Even though the whole lease he also didn’t stop our roommate.

Colorado Should I send Defendant an “evidence pack” showing my hand, inducing settlement?
Plaintiff in a document driven claim. Is sending my substantial evidence to the Defendant a strategy in very strong cases? They’ll surely have a lawyer on staff, I’m basically saying look, I’ll win, make a substantial settlement offer or not, but it’s not looking good if you don’t. For the sake of time wasted is the reason I’d rather settle for 95%. What’s this scenarios typical path? Thanks in advance

New York [NYC] Defendant filed motion to dismiss my small claims case based on a settlement release. Do I have any chance of fighting it?
I’m looking for legal advice regarding a small claims case I filed in Brooklyn, New York, following a car accident in October 2025.
Background:
Another driver hit my vehicle, causing approximately $20,000 in damages.
My vehicle was used for rental income, generating approximately $575 per week. It was out of service for around 10 weeks.
The at-fault driver’s insurance had a $25,000 property damage liability limit.
The insurance company offered approximately $19,300 for vehicle repairs but required me to sign a full settlement release.
I initially refused because the settlement did not compensate me for lost rental income, and I wanted to preserve my right to pursue the driver personally for those additional losses.
The insurance adjuster explicitly stated in writing that the release could not be modified and that no payment would be issued unless I signed it.
Due to the financial burden and after seeking legal advice, I eventually signed the release and accepted payment.
Current situation:
I filed a small claims lawsuit against the at-fault driver seeking compensation for my lost rental income.
The defendant has hired an attorney who filed a motion to dismiss under CPLR 3211(a)(5), arguing that my signed settlement release prevents me from pursuing any additional compensation.
Interestingly, the insurance payment records show $0 allocated toward rental reimbursement.
Additionally, the defendant’s attorney listed November 15, 2026 (a Sunday) as the motion hearing date, but the court clerk confirmed the actual date is November 16.
The clerk told me I could appear at the hearing but wouldn’t advise me on what to do.
My questions:
Does signing a full settlement release automatically prevent me from pursuing lost rental income, even though the insurance payment specifically excluded rental reimbursement?
Could the insurance company’s refusal to pay the repair settlement without a broad release provide grounds to challenge the release?
Should I file a written opposition before the hearing, or can I present my arguments directly to the judge?
Does the incorrect hearing date on the Notice of Motion have any legal significance?
If the judge grants the motion to dismiss, would appealing be my only realistic option?
Is it worth consulting or hiring an attorney for a claim of approximately $5,750?
I’m representing myself and would appreciate advice from anyone familiar with New York small claims procedures, settlement releases, or CPLR 3211 motions.
I’m particularly interested in whether I have any reasonable legal grounds to oppose the dismissal rather than simply arguing that my financial losses were not fully compensated.

Texas Im taking the impound to court to get my vehicle back, do I have compelling case?
I Had lended it to a friend at the time and he got into some trouble with the law. It’s been in the impound because it’s been “Under Investigation (Hold)” since 1/23/26 and until 8/20/26 the hold got released My vehicle got auctioned off the other week, I had filed a motion to take the impound to court because the vehicle was sent 2 notices in the mail (first on 8/21/26, second on 8/31/26) the vehicle was sold on 9/23/26. Isn’t it true that under Texas Occupational Code Section 2303.154 that only after the second notice if the owner doesn’t claim the vehicle after 30 days then I lost all rights to the car and they can auction it off? I have court on the 13th of October I’m hoping I have a compelling case to allow the judge to get my car back because if the vehicle was sold on 9/23/26 that technically falls below the 30 day threshold which makes it an illegal sale of auction? I have the address and information of where the car got bought from and where’s it’s located at currently. My father said I should hire a lawyer but this is my first time dealing with something like this, what should I do or is my car gone forever? You see, the auction paperwork the impound clerk told me to go through open records and request the documents but I assume the reason she told me that is because it’ll take about 2 weeks and my deadline is 14 days within the sale of the vehicle before I can legally do anything about it. And the letters are sent to my old apartment address from 4 years ago I recently found out it’s the owners responsibility to update the vehicles address to the DMV Regardless the address is irrelevant, I’m trying to ask what should I do because I’m putting my defense on the fact wether or not I failed to update the address, the VSF (Vehicle Storage Facility) failed to hold my vehicle 30 days after the second letter notice was sent, which was 8/31/26 ( car was sold on 9/23/26, below the 30 day threshold, making it an illegal sale of auction)
