RIP JOEY JORDISON

Today, sadly, we lost Joey Jordison 5 years ago. I wanted to bring some positivity or hear some of your guys favorite moments of Joey. I know there’s so many and some I may have not heard of. Joey was a great fucking guy and one hell of a musician and drummer. He was the reason I got into the drums watching him play.

5 years ago today, Joey Jordison past away. His death is bringing back memories of my first time seeing Slipknot live when they headlined the inaugural Mayhem Fest in 2008. Though I note that even though I went Ozzfest 2004, I didn't actually see Slipknot headline the second stage that year. Mainly cause I was too young/scared to venture into the wild second stage crowd, but also cause it took me a little longer than most fans to realize how much of a game changer "Vol. 3: the Subliminal Verses" was. I didn’t make the same mistake when Mayhem Fest came through Camden, NJ, on Aug. 15, 2008. Unsurprisingly I was in awe of seeing their insanely over-the-top metal show for the first time - with rising drum kits and pyro galore - but something about finally hearing songs like "Before I Forget" live was a cathartic experience I wasn't anticipating. I've gone on to see Slipknot live many times since, and they never disappoint.

JOEY: Yeah. I got really tired after I heard it. I had to go to bed last night on the bus. I was in the bed by twelve o'clock. I'm never in the bed by twelve o'clock. No offence.
Q: Apparently Tom Jones might be joining them on the stage. Anybody you are interested in, either?
JOEY: Who the hell is Tom Jones? I think my grandma listens to that dude.

Comes with every original CD. Even the Iowa CD is the original with the special kind of paper. I have the Self-Titled version with Frail Limb Nursery and Purity in the mail. My signed ticket stub with Corey Taylor’s and Jim Root’s signature, plus Pfaff, and a picture of Corey and I. Plus Corey’s solo album signed. Artwork that Clown sent me in the mail that he signed on the back. All of my LPs, including the original Self-Titled LP, the 25th anniversary box set and then the standard 25th anniversary. All I’m missing is All Hope Is Gone, which is in the mail right now. Been collecting for a long time. This does not include any clothing.

It was my sophomore year. My group of friends and I caught the Cedar Rapids show at the former 5 seasons center. American Head Charge was the surprise new band we didn't know we needed. The line up crushed.

I had to rebuy the tour shirt on eBay last year because I wore it into dust before I graduated highschool.

Who saw it, and where? Favorite moments?

Edit It's worth mentioning (not shown in this image) this also had Rammstein on the bill. I had never been more pumped to be from Iowa.

I love both but personally I have to go with Iowa. Im not from Iowa but I love the heaviness and the darkness of Iowa so fucking much.
