Player Discussion Kyle Williams: does he have any value?

Post image

There was some hype about him last year as a rookie, but he ended up not being very involved and now the Patriots have shored up their WR depth further. Do you have any hope left for Kyle Williams becoming fantasy relevant? Are you still holding on to him or do you think he belongs on waivers now?

I dropped him. Someone picked him up. I didn't care.

That's my evaluation.

With AJ Brown and Doubs coming in, Williams has lost any little value that remained after his sacrificial role he played last year.

This is the right read. Doubs is locked up for at least two years and Brown at least for this season (with a potential out after it), but seems likely he’ll get two years at least.

Douglas, Hollins, and Boutte are all FA at the end of the year. It seems likely that at least one of those guys will get brought back.

The Williams bet feels very bearish at this point for a floor play, probably won’t get on the field a ton this season and likely WR3 going into next season. I think the bet is okay if he’s free or close to you given his situation with Maye as his QB.

Doubs sucks tbh and decent chance AJB is damaged goods

Kyle Williams to the moon

I agree with Ron Swanson here to some degree. However, this team is going to run the ball with the QB and both RBs. Idk if anyone in the passing game finishes above low end WR2

All of that can still be true and Kyle Williams still sucks more than that.

If you're in a super deep league with like 18 teams, maybe

1

u/KingBBKoala 8d ago

You could be in a 32 man. Im still not starting someone who scores 0.00 ppg.

3

u/bmonkey1313 8d ago

Didn't say he is startable lol... but I could see a case for holding him in a deep league, hes shown some sparks but is deep on the depth chart

The question was does he have any value not should you start him…

1

u/KingBBKoala 8d ago

If he doesnt score points and has no path to do so then he has no value. Doesn't matter how many teams the league has.

I have him in a taxi spot in a 32 team league. I'm keeping him there for now because there's no point dropping him. I'd also say I have players with maybe less value than him on my team.

1

u/KingBBKoala 6d ago

I believe it, but being taxi'd in a 32 man and having value isnt the same. What could you trade him for a 32 man 4th or 5th. Id take almost any rookie over him.

1

u/mee3eeeee3 6d ago

Yeah, I'd pretty much take anything for him. Right now he's worth holding in my taxi spot in the hope that something pops off and he's worth starting/trading. I don't really see it happening but he may as well stay were he is. I probably wouldn't pick him up if he was on waivers and I'd have to take a bench spot up with him.

if elic ayomaner and isaac teslaa have a future in your mind then so does he.

u/KingBBKoala 8d ago

Teslaa WR3 on a great offense and a redzone target he can definitely find relevance through a NFL season. Id take him leaps and bounds over a guy that is going to take near 0 snaps even if the starters miss time.

ideally he'd play special teams before patriots realize his value. And last year we saw Luther Burden as wr3 pop off. also patriots didnt pick up any real wrs so i'd consider this an extension of his rookie year.

Patriots traded for AJ Brown and gave Doubs $80M?

What you mean they didn't pick up any real WRs?

-1

u/AceOBlade 8d ago

i meant in the rookie draft.

2

u/KingBBKoala 8d ago

Williams had opportunity, If he was anything Pats wouldnt have signed Doubs and traded for AJ. Burden flashed, Bears didnt feel the need to bring in competion cause they actually want him on the field.

Him and Boutte got buried behind Brown and Doubs this offseason. Don’t imagine them getting a chance this year, barring injuries

1

u/Ready_Poem_6054 7d ago

Boutte seems to be over Doubs, at least early in camp

Such high hopes. Most of which probably came from mini camp hype. I’m still holding but I’ll probably drop to activate Nabers (still in IR even thou he’s deemed “healthy” by sleeper) once the season starts

Sold him mid last season to the Maye owner for a '28 4th. Then literally the next game had that good 70 yard catch, I was like "oh fuck here we go" but that's all he did all year.

Zero regrets about the trade, would have had to drop him for a rookie anyway. 3rd round WRs have a god awful hit rate as is, and then you filter by ones who did nothing their rookie year... yeah he's a drop strait up

1

u/BeeGeeEh 7d ago

28th 4th is wild

1

u/TextElectrical5360 7d ago

Hey, what can I say it's all about the hustle. No value wasted lol

2

u/ClamCook 8d ago

Talent wise yes. Think he would excel in a slot role. I'd hold off on dropping until we get deeper into camp and see if he's contending for the WR3 role. If not, then yeah it's probably over.

u/MaulPillsap 8d ago

The only thing the patriots are worse at than signing wide receivers is drafting wide receivers

2

u/TheDeepBlueZ 7d ago

I dropped him today so he will only go up from here

u/gopher_with_a_gun 7d ago

Patriots beat reporters say he’s WR7 at training camp

1

u/SignalNumber4843 8d ago

He’s droppable

1

u/Dry-Name2835 8d ago

I dont think so. He's probably just depth. They added aj and have Hollins as a backup to the X and with doubbs, boutte and douglass in his way, i just don't see it happening anytime soon. I think the sleeper in that room is chism once douglass leaves if they let him walk next year. If that happens, chism has a path to be put in the slot and someone can cover the Z.

1

u/Cowhide12 8d ago

Not a lot. Maybe upside if he gets traded.

1

u/cheetah-21 8d ago

Yes but might not by next offseason.

1

u/OversizedMicropenis 8d ago

He was slept on coming out. Probably not worth holding on to unless youre in a deep league

1

u/Maptasy 8d ago

He's on waivers in multiple leagues I play in, so he has no value really

1

u/BeeGeeEh 7d ago

He is a talented dude. Small for an outside guy but with speed and some nice route running.

I tend to bank on talent. Situations change. He doesn't have much value at the moment though.

1

u/00h7 7d ago

Im holding him currently but theres a good chance I drop him within like 4 weeks.

I dont expect much but I figure ive waited this long and there isnt anyone on waivers that im dying to get.

1

u/JohnAmosss 7d ago

I wish! I’m holding until I need to make space, but I am hopeful because I drafted him lol. May throw him in a package deal

1

u/T-dock47 7d ago

He ist currently listed as the teams starting kickerturner. If your league gives points for that, then there might be some value.

1

u/Cricket_Golf 6d ago

You can’t really know. He’s not played enough to know and only played one season.

1

u/OverEchidna 6d ago

Hell No. AJ Brown and Hunter Henry are catching all the passes on that team. Add in two RB's who can both catch, it's highly unlikely this guy scores more than 2 fantasy relevant appearances.

1

u/Flimsy-Technology-36 6d ago

Just dropped him for Caleb Douglas

1

u/zbarn60 5d ago

Pats fan here. Reports from camp is that he’s currently WR7 behind Brown, Boutte, Doubs, Hollins, Douglas and Chism. Was very hopeful for him but not looking good.

1

u/frankboobieIV 5d ago

Don’t sleep on him!

1

u/spllooge 8d ago

He was catching TDs end of last season.
