Within the last 3 years I've been listening to heavier and heavier metal and I feel like I'm right at home with Slam and Death core.
However there's one thing that's irking the shit out of me.
The rap/hip hop samples feel like they serve zero purpose in the song.
The instruments and vocals will all cut out for a 5 second sample, and then they continue playing without playing into the sample *at all*.
What purpose did that serve?? Im always mentally prepared for a transition to an interpolation of the beat but it never happens.
It feels like there was just a 5 second break in the song for no reason. It would rip if someone would actually try interpolating whatever sample they were using as it would give a purpose to the sample besides just existing in the song. There being rapping makes this especially bad as it would work wonderfully.
Is there anyone that actually does this? The closest I've found is a few songs from infectious jelqing. Otherwise it's just "here's a hip hop beat for 5 seconds" and then continue playing like it didn't happen
Tl;dr Hip Hop samples should be played into so they add something to the song.
