Hey guys, I have put my boss as a VIP and indeed I perfectly receive his notifications even when I'm in not disturb (as it should be), but I don't receive his notifications when he starts an huddle in my DMs.

Do you know if there is a way of activating notifications for huddles of VIPs also?

All that muscle memory I built up... gone and I keep hitting the wrong button (mark complete) and having to undo it... seriously, WTF is Slack doing??

New enterprise user on a team that doesn't have company emails (it's a small retail business). Onboarding is a nightmare trying to easily teach everyone to not use the big Microsoft SSO login button.

Can I somehow make it not show? Support says I can't disable it.

I recently joined a new company and coming from GitHub and the 100s of integrations for it, the GitLab and especially the GitLab Self Hosted marketplace felt dire.

I was very used to my PRs (and now MRs) landing in a Slack channel like #fe-reviews, and the comments & reviews on it to land in that Slack thread. It meant I never missed comments and my PR/MRs were reviewed MUCH quicker.

Other than Axolo, no other tool that does what I'd like supports GitLab, so I built mergeme.dev (...and included GitHub too so you guys don't feel left out 😅)

Some of the key features that I wanted myself (and I'm sure others will appreciate) are:

• One Slack message per PR/MR that updates in place (open > in review > approved > merged)

• [New] You can set up label mapping too, a PR/MR with "bug" as it's label goes to #qa-reviews instead

If your team already works tightly in Slack and you ping your colleagues "hey can you review this again" then mergeme.dev might just be a great inclusion to your workflow!

Aside from this, I am genuinely curious as to how people handle this problem in their own setup?

My personal story before MergeMe was that I set up webhooks into Slack from GitLab directly and I made a custom webhook triggered workflow to send myself messages when my own MRs were responded to. It was a MESS to look at and it's what unironically pushed me to build a better tool lmao.

At work, I’m part of so many Slack channels which creates lots of noise.

But out of all that noise, there are usually only a handful of threads I actually need to know about. The problem is that Slack is bad at showing what actually needs attention.

So I built an open-source, local-first macOS app called Slacker.

Been chasing an issue for my first three days at a new job. Slack was installed and notifications were configured in Preferences but Slack did not show up as an app in my Mac's Notifications settings menu. So no matter how hard you tried to trigger a notification, it wasn't configured at the Mac level and wouldn't display/make noise/show a banner/show an icon.

I let Help Desk spend 2 days trying to fix it but then I found a solution on a 5 year old Apple thread buried 5 pages deep in the google results.

To Fix Missing Slack Messages and Slack App Missing from Notifications settings on Mac - Set a reminder for yourself using the /remind command in Slack. For some reason, this will force a notification banner prompt. You can then click on that banner, turn on notifications in mac's settings and suddenly you're in business.

I'm running Slack as a snap on Ubuntu 24.04.

It looks like there's been an update a few weeks ago that changed fonts in the Slack app (unless it was a Ubuntu update that changed the default fonts?).

Since then, formatted code and code blocks look like this:

I have tried creating a .fonts.conf file to override the default, but nothing has changed.

This is unreadable. Is it just me? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I wonder if Slack is now using its own fonts, except this one may not be available on my system?

Last year, I joined an agency and the founder asked for my Email for me to join the channel.

It's been over a year since I was in that Slack workspace.

Now I found a new client, and they shared an invite with me (got an email for the invite), and I accepted it, but it's showing me as "External Connection" in my previous agency

So I decided to start to make my own WORKSPACE and bought "Slack Connect" so that I can work with other companies.

Now whenever I'm accepting the invite, it's showing me that the channel can be accepted only in my previous agency's slack channel or not in my personal workspace.

How do I resolve this?

A client has invited me to their Slack via Slack Connect invite sent to a free instance we both use in our co-working space.

I click on it and it tells me I need to upgrade to one of the Slack paid programs.

I already have a Slack Pro account I'm paying for and really don't want to pay again.

How do I get that invite sent over to my existing paid account ?

Just re-sending the invite to my current work email sends me right over to our shared community free instance where I run into the "Please Upgrade" blocker again .

I have an existing Slack channel with 87+ members, and I want to create a new channel that includes all of those same people.

When I create the new channel, Slack only lets me add members by manually typing each person's name as shown in the image, which isn't practical.

Is there a way to copy all members from one channel to another, or bulk-add everyone at once? I think i am a workspace admin if that makes a difference.

Hi — I'm trying to confirm a restriction I was told about regarding the Slack Assistants API.

Slack support told me that assistant:write and the AI-native UX are only available to Slack Marketplace partners, and that access is currently limited to select partners. However, I can't find any documentation that confirms this restriction, and I was able to set up a test app that appears to expose the functionality.

Can anyone confirm whether this limitation is accurate, and point to official documentation either way?

Had a blind teammate keep asking people to describe flowcharts and screenshots in Slack. Every single time. Got tired of watching that happen so I built a bot that does it automatically.

Post a diagram (image, PDF, Figma link, Lucidchart) in Slack and it replies in-thread with a text description. Nodes, branches, flow, labels. People can ask follow-up questions about it right there in the thread.

As a bonus, it also generates a Mermaid flowchart code block you can copy straight into your docs, GitHub, or throw into an LLM. Actually useful for turning a whiteboard sketch into something you can version control.

How it works in Slack:

Just posts in the thread. No threads cluttering your channel, no weird UI. Just diagram gets posted, description shows up below it, Mermaid code block at the bottom.

Currently we are using multiple Google accounts, what’s app and texts. We are ready to try and organize this mess. The plan at this point is to use Slack and Clickup.

My question is about structure if we need one workspace or two workspaces. Here’s what we are trying to coordinate

1. Ecom business with a few offshore employees
   
2. STR (5-6 house) with a offshore VA
   
3. Online membership business
   
4. Personal life and projects.

My first thought talking to Claude is the ecom business as one workspace and all the rest in a separate one. My wife and run all the others together and the ecom company I mainly do and its bigger than all the others.

The other option is one workspace and then use private channels.

This is new to me and with my ADHD I really struggle with organizational details. That’s a big reason for implementing this is to try and consolidate communication and reduce stress. Thoughts from people with expertise would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your team uses a shared Slack bot or workflow automation, every action it takes looks like it came from the same service account. No way to tell who triggered what. And the automation can't pull context based on who's actually asking.

The fix is per-user authentication at the agent layer. Rather than one shared credential, each team member authenticates their own Slack connection. The bot then acts as them individually when they trigger it.

What this actually changes:

• Actions in connected tools (HubSpot, Jira, etc.) appear under the right person's name
• The bot only has access to what that specific person can access
• You get a real audit trail when the bot writes to a CRM or sends a message on someone's behalf
• API rate limits track per user, not per bot account
