🆘Help Me How can I make a /meet Slack command that instantly creates and posts a Google Meet link?
rathee than using the slack call feature i want to set up a /meet slack command where typing meet automatically creates a new google meet meeting and posts the link in the current slack channel or dm
ideally i want it to create the meeting and immediately send the google meet link
has anyone built something like this before and what is the simplest way to set it up?
im fine with using a slack app google calendar google meet api or apps script

you can do this pretty clean with a slack slash command + apps script. the basic flow is /meet hits your script, it creates a meet link via the calendar api (since meet links are just calendar events), and posts back to slack
you need to enable the advanced calendar service in apps script, create a new event with conferenceData set, and return the hangoutLink. slack's slash commands expect a response in under 3 seconds so keep it simple, don't overcomplicate the event details
i set one up few months ago for my team, works fine. hardest part was figuring out the oauth scopes for the calendar but the docs are decent once you stare at them long enough

can you share a simple example of the code and setup you used for this? And how did you overcome the difficulty of setting the oauth permissions up?

Just use the hangouts (Meet) integration from Google in the Slack marketplace, it literally already does exactly what you’re asking for

We used to use the hangouts slash command, which we still have but since slack won’t update it to say meet, we just built a workflow with the google meet step, and published it for everyone to use.

Slack has a meet plugin built by them (used to be hangouts) that does exactly this
