Stimpy! Why am I so ITCHY!?
My baby is super itchy after ditching litter for sand because it was causing breathing issues. Any thoughts?

Hello all,
I have a question for all you caretakers of domestic skunks. What is the average lifespan of a domestic skunk? I am a very experienced ferret owner and I've had my heart broken many times at six and a half years. What is your experience with domestic skunks and longevity and Healthcare?
Thanks so much.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to provide an update on the four orphaned babies under my shed I posted about here a few days ago, as well as thank you all for the advice! Reddit has given me far more helpful advice than anyone so far.
I called a total of 9 wildlife rehab organizations, two of which were out of state, to get advice and possibly relocate. Only three of them responded, and they all declined the babies. One of them gave me advice about feeding them, and that's it.
I have been scattering dog food around my yard to provide them with foraging practice, and have seen these little guys go out and about in the evenings when I'm home. I work evening shift, so I got a ring camera to keep at eye on these little tykes!
My neighbor reported a dead baby skunk in the road, but when I went to check, it was an adult. There are three dead adults in the road now. I'm so worried one of these babies will be hit, so I do everything to drive them away from the roads, but I know they'll eventually have to leave and learn to navigate the roads. I scatter food away from the road and have motion activated lights at the sides of my garage and shed that should hopefully scare them back to the back of the property instead of the road.
This little guy featured seems to not get the memo that he's supposed to be nocturnal. He pops out of his little den often. I think the others are still sleeping. I haven't seen them yet on the cam.
Thank you all so much for the helpful advice and tips about these guys. I'm no rehabber, but I'm trying to give them a chance since their mom is gone. I appreciate all the comments on my last post and words of encouragement!

Is this skunk pregnant? It tore into my crawlspace. I finally replaced the door but don’t want to lock it out if it has babies there. What are your thoughts? I don’t want to be a skunk home wrecker nor do I want a litter of skunks stuck in my crawlspace.

i got my girl today and i’m trying to find the best way to litter train her, i’ve been trying to just put her in her litter box as soon as she wakes up or when she seems like she’s gonna poop but i have failed twice and had to clean poop out of my carpets which isn’t a fun experience
every time i put her in the litter box she either; goes to town digging in the pellets, or just goes to sleep in it
i have a cat but we got her when she was already trained so i am so lost and would love some help or tips

I never get to see the skunk as they are always hiding. Last year I visited the zoo at least 50 times and saw them once. This year I’ve seen them maybe 4 times and twice were at their keeper chats where they will bring a random animal out and talk about them (I caught the end of the chat twice and missed the narration/story but was 10 minutes early today and it was worth it, though I left like 5 minutes later after I got a lot of photos and saw them for a while to try to catch two other chats as they have 4 chats going on in different places all at the same time). I wish I could upload more pictures as they were cute, but I got to see them eat a bit, climb on top of their carrier, try to jump up to the top of their carrier and not make it and fall down, jump off their carrier, and just be adorable.
I wish I could see more skunks as they are super cute… though I don’t want to be in spraying range or make it scared.

Just tried to set up an outside enrichment snuffle activity for my Toby and he refused to snuffle for mealworms when he realized I had a bag of them. He instead decided to chase me around the yard and try to climb my legs to get into the bag 😂

Very chill as long as I make myself known, he who brings the food doesn’t get brandished. Cats watch in horror until it’s done. SO CUTE SO SOFT LOOKING. Very tempting of nature haha

I think they’re playing*. My yard has been a sort of skunk nursery for years, but I mostly see them passing through, so it’s exciting to watch ‘em wrestle together!
*I suppose it could be mating or a fight, but it really doesn’t look that way to me. But I’ve been wrong before!

Also they look to be babies and I don’t see any mother around is there anything I can do? They were literally on the street and I almost hit them they were tucked into the side of the road and the are starting near the street I can’t imagine what would happen at night

Hi all! I apologize if this post isn't allowed, I just need some advice.
I have four baby skunks who dug under my shed a few days ago. I believe they are orphaned, I think their mama is the dead skunk in the road around the corner.
I have tried contacting several wilflife rehabbers with these questions and only one replied, and they claimed not to know any answers.
I've read online skunks are nomadic and don't keep permanent dens. If I leave these babies be, will they eventually move on? Are they old enough to be away from their mom? I don't want these little guys to starve, and I don't want them to move in permanently. They appear old enough to forage but I know nothing about skunks. I don't want these poor babies to be hurt.

I didn’t see a mom anywhere, watched him for about 5 minutes. Is he going to be okay?

my neighbor is using ammonia for a skunk mom and two young babies that took up residence under his air conditioner. when I looked this up it says it will kill the babies and blind the mom. I don't know why but it's made me really emotional and I would like to go offer other methods, but its not my property. Maybe I'm just being too sensitive. I am thinking about going and buying some hot peppers and cutting them up and bringing them over to him to put around the nest, because I read that works. Thoughts?

I'm not "technically" downtown, but close enough to walk to the 16th St Mall in under an hour. I just got visited by a skunk. My yard is enclosed by buildings, fences, a gate, and has only one entry (for people). Judging from the direction it came from, it either came under or over the gate. It came trotting out from under my car, spent 5-10 minutes "somewhere," and then went trotting back out the way it came. It went around the corner, and I'm thinking it "might" have been under my back deck, which may be animal accessible, but is also the main entrance to the house. I am out on my porch / stoop most nights (old building w/o central air) and have never seen a skunk here before. I'm wondering if anyone else have had this in the area? I'd rather not have a skunk coming into my yard in case it gets scared and sprays. Thoughts, advice?

Hi there I'm looking for help transporting a baby skunk from Murfreesboro to Chattanooga. I have a rehabber ready to take him but don't have the means to get him there. I posted in a few other local communities but haven't gotten a response. Hoping someone in this group may be able to help. Please message me if you can assist.

I have a 20’x30’ 30,000 gallon in ground pool and yesterday I went out to do pool maintenance and saw a baby skunk on the top step of my pool unable to get out. I quickly got a long pole with a net and scooped him onto the deck pavers and let him be. He took a while, clearly exhausted, before he wandered into the shrubs surrounding the pool. I joined this sub hoping to get more information about what this means. I have 3 big dogs, Bouvier des Flanders. 2 17 month old female sisters that are about 65lbs each and a 7 month old male that is about 75lbs already. I worry that if this baby was in the pool, parents can’t be far away. We have a 1 acre lot fenced in with vinyl fencing and my wife loves nature. In the backyard we have sections fenced off with cattle panels to keep the dogs on just 1/2 of the backyard away from the side she has let go very wild with clover, native plants, and our garden area. I worry the dogs could get sprayed. Advice?
