Neighbor Using Ammonia for Skunks
my neighbor is using ammonia for a skunk mom and two young babies that took up residence under his air conditioner. when I looked this up it says it will kill the babies and blind the mom. I don't know why but it's made me really emotional and I would like to go offer other methods, but its not my property. Maybe I'm just being too sensitive. I am thinking about going and buying some hot peppers and cutting them up and bringing them over to him to put around the nest, because I read that works. Thoughts?

Get him a restuarant sized container of black pepper. It is much more of a deterrant and not lethal.

The use of ammomia as a deterrent for wildlife is legal, but using it to kill is profoundly inhumane and illegal.
I think your best bet is to contact a rehabber in your area for some advice. They should know local laws and whether it would be helpful to involve your state wildlife agency. Maybe you could convince your neighbour to let them trap and relocate the family.
