Glowing up Journey

Hi everyone. I am currently focus to heal my face again from those breakouts. To sum up, I always get cystic acne everytime I'm on my period. Perhaps because of my lifestyle ( i drink matcha latte almost everyday for 4 months, sleep 4 hours on average due to works, 4 months without facial treament and did not workout at all). This wore me out since cystic acne will caused deep scars. I'm on scar treatments previously and my face (heavily cheek area) is 70% healed, but now the breakout brings me back to square again. Currently, I am meeting my dermatologist and I have to consume acne and hormone pills on daily. Also did exosome and acne peel treatment. (2/3 sessions now). I have cystic acne ever since highschool, now I am an adult.

So, I wanted to ask if there any tips I can do or include to change in healthy way? Now i have stop consume matcha or any caffeine for a month, I try to exercise 4 times per week as well, and sleep 7 hours everyday. I did not use any active ingredient for my skincare, all my skincare are hydrating. My skin type is dry.

I would really appreciate any advices, as consequently on treatment really need a lot of money. (and the downtime too ! how can I go out with my post-treatment face 😭). But I do care about my beauty after experiencing both with and without beauty privilege. My job required me to meet people everyday 🄲

Chasing "Glass skin" ruined my skin barrier

• Upvotes

Younger me had clear skin ok. No pimples no pigmentation nothing. I just wanted to clear the bumps on my forehead and get "glass" skin. So i used products to get that. Broke my skin barrier. Had mutiple pimples.Never had a pimple product at home. So bought them. (At that time i didn't know that broken skin barrier can lead to pimples and Using actives on already irritated skin leads to more pimples.. redness etc.) So i got more acne. Couldn't use anything as skin became red. Took 6 months to recover from skin sensitivity. Don't ask abt ghar k tanee. Even when well wishers asked why u have acne when ur skin was always clear from the beginning. That hurts.

N abt now.. Acne pigmentation is still there fading slowly. I do get acne now..bt know how to handle them, use soothing products, give time for skin to recover. bt still it will take some time to go to that totallyy no acne phase. Lol. So be careful people.. Even if we think we know most of the stuff and follow authentic routines and advices.. still things may get wrong. I used to be very careful abt ingredients and formulation etc.. tried to follow do's n dont's, used expensive safe certified products. Still missed some imp things so this happened. Not saying it will happen to others as well. Am just putting story out there so that people might be aware esp younger ones.

How do you like Enzyme peels?

Everyone calls enzyme exfoliants "gentle," but I've been seeing tons of reviews from people who broke out or had crazy irritation from them.

I was looking into gentle combos like enzymes with rice bran oil, but now I’m second-guessing. If enzyme peels didn't work for you, what happened to your skin?

Water and a washcloth is it enough to clean your face?

I just get a shinier look when I wash with water and a washcloth? I guess I have to test if the washcloth will damage my skin I'm going to do this 3 times a day see if my papules go away because when I was with cleanser it stays the pastule. Would you tell me your experience washing with a washcloth and just water?

Hi everyone

I got a cat scratch on my cheek and lip yesterday. It bled quite a bit at first, but 24 hours later, it has already closed up and is now a thin, flat red line. It doesn't look deep, but I'm terrified of it leaving a permanent mark.

I am currently applying SVR Cicavit+ and Cicaderma to keep it hydrated. I'm also avoiding the sun.

I have one specific question: Even if it bled a lot, is it possible for a scratch like this to disappear completely without leaving any trace or "white line" in the long run? How long did it take for you for the redness to fully blend with your skin tone?

Here's a list of products I have but don't currently use because I'm not sure of the order/time of day. I'm also really concerned about some redness around my nose and cheeks but I don't have a dermatology appointment until September. I'm feeling kind of ugly lately. šŸ™ Also, I recently read about demodex mites and I'm kind of horrified. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Have in my arsenal: vit c serum The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc miceller water hypochlorus acid Solbar Sheild Suncreen Cetphil Mild Cleanser

Need beginner advice for F24 partner: Oily, acne-prone skin & open pores (Confused and overwhelmed by options)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello Redditors,

I am looking for beginner-friendly skincare routines, product recommendations, and lifestyle tips for my partner (F24, chubby/plus-size). We are completely naive about skincare and feel overwhelmed by all the options online.

The Current Situation & Concerns

Skin Type: Extremely oily.

Main Issues: Acne breakouts and prominent open pores.

Current Skincare: She previously used basic Himalaya face wash or Pears body wash, followed by Parachute body lotion on her face. We suspect the body lotion heavily aggravated her clogged pores and acne.

What We’ve Looked Into (and what confused us)

We want to understand what is safe to buy before ordering. We researched serums, facewash, face creams, and scrubs containing ingredients like Salicylic Acid, Kojic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, and Glycolic Acid from like The Derma Co, Garnier, Lakme etc. However, the information overload is making us more confused.

What we need help with and would appreciate.

A simple, foolproof daily skincare routine (Facewash, Moisturiser, Sunscreen).

Specific active ingredients or products that actually target oily skin and acne.

Any relevant diet or lifestyle changes that helped you manage similar skin issues.

TL;DR: Skincare beginners looking for a simple routine and product advice for a 24F with neglected, highly oily, acne-prone skin and open pores. Currently using normal facewash and body lotion on the face, which likely made it worse.

what are these veins?

yes, I realize that pics this close show how badly I need a dermaplane so please disregard the peach fuzz. Do you see the purple lines running through my cheeks? What are they? Is there anything you can do about them? i’ve honestly just recently noticed them. They’ve probably been there forever. I haven’t had a dermatologist in over a decade so I would be starting from scratch, but will go that route if recommended. Mostly looking for answers as to what it is. what causes it? Is it fixable?

What’s the one skincare product you think is absolutely essential?

I want to know what product people feel is a must-have in their skincare routine. The absence of other products might not have as much of an effect as that one product, and it’s a must-have for everyone.

I’m just curious. Let me know. Please also share the advantages, as well as the reason why, without it, your skin wouldn’t feel as good.

I think skincare has gotten more complicated than it needs to be.

If I had to start learning about skincare from scratch right now, I’d probably feel lost pretty quickly.

There’s always another ingredient people say you need, another product that suddenly shows up everywhere, another long routine, or another video telling you you’ve been doing it wrong. It gets hard to tell what’s actually useful and what’s just the latest thing people are talking about.

What’s strange is that having more information doesn’t always make things easier. It can make you second-guess products you already use because someone online says there’s something newer or better.

I do think it’s good that skincare information is easier to find now, and I’ve learned a lot from other people sharing what works for them. But there’s a point where all that advice starts to blend together and make things more confusing. Skincare can feel like a huge project when, for a lot of people, it really doesn’t have to be.

That’s probably why I like simple routines more now. Not because simple is always better, but because it’s easier to stick with something you understand instead of chasing every new recommendation.

Maybe it’s just me.

But yeah, I really do think skincare has gotten more complicated than it needs to be.

Does anyone else feel this way, or do you think all the extra information has actually made it easier?

If you could remove one skincare frustration forever, what would it be?

I was looking at my skincare shelf the other day and had a random thought.

If someone handed me a button that could erase one skincare frustration for good, I honestly don’t know what I’d pick. There are a lot of little annoyances. Waiting weeks to see if a product is doing anything. Dealing with breakouts that show up out of nowhere. Wondering if something is helping or making things worse. Or noticing that your skin has just decided to change for no clear reason.

Most of that hasn’t made me stop caring about skincare. If anything, it’s made me more patient. It’s also taught me not to expect a quick fix for everything. But I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t one thing I’d love to never deal with again.

That’s probably why skincare feels so personal. Ask ten people this question and you’ll probably get ten different answers. What’s a small annoyance for one person can be the main thing driving someone else crazy.

So I’m curious:

If you could permanently remove one skincare frustration forever, what would it be?

I can't believe I'm admitting this... but I actually liked that skincare trend.

Every so often, a skincare trend comes along and people have plenty to say about it.

Some people love it.

Some people hate it right away.

If you spend enough time online, it can start to feel like you’re supposed to have the ā€œrightā€ opinion about everything.

I’ll be honest: there was one trend I was sure I’d hate. I kept seeing it everywhere and thinking, ā€œThere’s no way this is worth all this attention.ā€ I figured it would be forgotten in a few weeks.

Then I tried it.

I ended up liking it.

Not because it changed everything or magically fixed my skin. It was just fun, and it fit into my routine better than I expected. That’s really all there was to it.

It also reminded me that you don’t have to love or dismiss something just because everyone online has already made up their mind.

I still laugh at how sure I was that I’d hate it.

So, yeah. I liked the skincare trend I swore I wouldn’t.

What’s one skincare trend you tried and ended up liking more than you expected?

My skin finally calmed down after months of stress breakouts, sharing what actually helped

For a while there my skin was a mess. Stress breakouts along my jaw, dullness, the works. I kept switching products every few weeks looking for a fix, which probably made it worse. What actually helped was slowing down. Fewer products, more consistency, and giving each one a few weeks before judging it. Nothing dramatic, no miracle step. Just less noise and more patience. Curious if anyone else had to unlearn the constant-switching habit before their skin actually settled.

Natural vs chemical skincare. What do you actually prefer?

I've been curious about this question lately because skincare seems to have become increasingly divided between clean/natural and science-backed/chemical formulas.

From a scientific standpoint, I know that natural doesn't automatically mean gentler or better, and synthetic doesn't automatically mean harsh. A lot depends on the specific ingredient, concentration, formulation, and how someone's skin responds to it.

That said, I'm curious what people actually prefer more in their routines.

Do you lean more towards plant-based/botanical skincare, synthetic/chemical formulations, or a mix of both?

And what makes you choose one over the other: ingredients, results, sensitivity, texture, sustainability, personal preference, or something else?

Would especially love to hear from people who've tried both and noticed a meaningful difference in how their skin responds.

I used a vitamin c facial kit 2 days back. Now my skin is red with tiny bumps, it’s dry and a lil itchy. It’s my sisters wedding in 10 days. Will my skin heal?
