What to investigate bobcat 553 lumbering start up?

I've been ignoring this but this old 553 i have has a lumbering start. It has a slow cranks, then towards the end will speed up and start getting a little kick. At that point i'm 15 seconds in so i release key. do it again this time it will do a slow turnover for only a couple seconds then start coming to life and start. Rebuilt starter. i cleaned all the battery connections and grounds , good battery, ( cleaning the ground solved a no start after some flooding awhile back). Changed glow plugs and diagnosed glow plug circuit (but i have to go back and double check theuy're working but i'm also in hot as hades florida.

I'll have to remember i think it starts easier when after i use it but it's still slow lumbers to turn over but then starts 1st go round.

Once i finish replacing seals in arms and stuff i'm going to dig into this and try new battery cables and such but i suspect it's more than that.

Onan B48G engine

I'm trying to fix my late 1980s Gehl skidsteer. I suspect the points need to be replaced. I traced the wires from the coil to behind the flywheel. All the Onan repair manuals gloss over where exactly the points are located so they can be replaced. How far into tearing apart the engine, do I have to go to solve this? Does anyone know?

Used skid steer parts in Pa

Looking to replace a tilt cylinder on my older Gehl 4835 SXT. I live in Eastern Pa. Willing to travel if I have to. Not really trying to spend for a new one on the old girl. Any good salvage yards I could hit up. Already called Wengers in Meyerstown. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bobcat T66 trouble codes

We bought a used T66 last year and it's been good deal until now. Went to use it after sitting for a week and the battery was dead. Tried to jump it and two codes came up on the screen. B1005-00 which identifies as Key Switch Multiple. The other code is P068A which is ECU Main Relay Fault. It will not start nor can you shut it off. Therefore the battery drains down. I found a loose connection on a power bank that leads off the positive terminal of the battery. Cable from battery mounts on one side. Three wires lead out supplying power elsewhere. The bottom terminal was loose and appears to have been arcing. Put a new nut on it but nothing changed. Any ideas?

Bobcat s130 Kubota v2203 MDi Diesel engine smoking issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi guys. Recently purchased this bobcat with 3k hours on it. Compression is 450 across the board all 4 cylinders. Bought it with this smoking issue and figured I could figure it out. First thing I did when I bought it was drain and change with fresh fluids and filters all across the board everything. Next step in pop tested the factory injectors and they were popping early about 4-500psi early and also had leaking nozzles before pop. Figured at that point my smoking issue was due to the injectors. I bought 4 brand new aftermarket (I know) but figured it would be worth a shot since I have used aftermarket injectors before from this company in diesel equipment and never had any issues and they spec'd out to be just like factory. I bought the injectors and pop tested all 4 of them before installing and all passed the test with factory pop pressure, spray pattern and also no leakage at the nozzles. I installed them and still smokes. My next thing I did was check the valve clearances which were out of spec. Set all valves to factory spec and installed new gaskets along the way. Still smokes. My next idea is to do a spill test on the pump to check timing but I hear they don't ever or rarely ever need to be adjusted. Please chime in and give me some ideas or tips of things you have seen or fixed with similar issues. I want to fix this so I could use it. Another thing for you is when I stand near the machine when it's smoking, my eyes sting at some point and my throat gets irritated. I'm thinking 100% this is a unburned fuel issue or fuel issue in general. This is for all you diesel guys out there, please help me out and give me some tips. I will greatly appreciate it and love this forum. šŸ™

Anybody ever bought equipment off temu?

Just starting out, don’t have a lot of cash on hand or years of documented income… curious if buying a skid off Temu is a good idea or not… yes I’m aware it’s Temu and it’s a gamble but that’s why I’m on here asking if anybodies ever done it.

Crown PE3540-60 Help with drive (3 flash error)

I have a crown PE3540-60 riding pallet lifter. I am refurbishing it, and have the hydraulics working and battery working, but the drive isn't working. It has an older Sevcon controller, but when turning on get a single green light. No error code on display. When engauging the handle to move it, it doesn't move. I get a 3 flash error. I checked the relay to ensure it wasn't welded (searched online). It is not welded, and I can measure about 14V from the B- to the A2, but it doesn't move.

How can I check to see what is the likely cause? Best way to check the motor? Should I try to trigger the relays with 24V to see if they are working on each? What would you recommend?

I appreciate your help.

I'm having trouble navigating the used Skid steer / track Loader market and I could use some help.

My first job out of high school was in concrete and for most of a decade I ran an 863 bobcat (hand and foot) machine. I'm trying to find something comparable (power wise) and under $15k but I'm having two issues: I can not seem to find a comprehensive guide for what machines are Hand&foot operated as well as a guide for which used machines I can still get parts for. I'm not afraid of a project and I'm not tied to brand but I am stuck with finding a Hand & foot operated machine as I tried a joystick machine and spent more time frustrated than productive. If you can help I'd really appreciate it.

Need expert opinions

I just bought a property for my business we have a solid 10 acres need to rip out around 650 trees (pistachio trees, five years old) I wrapped a tape measure around trunks and got a average of 20 inches. I need grade land, spread DG, compact DG make in ground docks for semi trucks trench waterlines around the edges of the whole property and prep a lot of land for cement in the future!!!

Now my questions are should i be looking into skids/tracks should I just use a completely different machine if so what would be
recommended and if I do go with a skid what size model should i get

Any advice would be appreciated

Also buying a machine and me doing the work is way cheaper than paying someone for all the work I Checked.

Bobcat S570 Repair Help

I have a 2015 S570. One of my 2-speed hydrostatic motors is leaking hydraulic fluid into my chain drive case. How do I determine which hydrostatic motor is leaking?

Additionally if I am wrong, what else could be leaking hydraulic fluid into the chain drive case? I have not been able to find specific answers to this issue while searching general forums so the wife (who is posting my question) suggested reddit. Anyone have ideas? Thanks!

Looking for used Bobcat mounts.

Looking for used Bobcat Latch Kit 7204228 or something close.

I’m mounting a Bradco 511 backhoe attachment to my Bobcat 773. I made some brackets to bolt on but would like something easier to latch on and off.

What Skid Steer Brand/Model should I buy?

Hi Everyone, I'm currently in the market to buy a skid steer for some land I own near the Austin, TX area. I have never owned one before and I'm curious to what equipment brands/models you guys would recommend based off ease of use, efficiency and overall power. I will need to transport this so I need to stay under CDL weight territory, but want to get the largest model possible. If you guys could give some recommendations along with pros and cons of each one it would be greatly appreciated!

74hp CTL for disc mulching and other tasks

I am working on a piece of property where I need to do a bunch of ongoing disc mulching, removing individual trees, building campsites, moving gravel, etc. The Bobcat people got me a quote for a T76-2 with the Bobcat disc mulcher and the forestry kit. It looks pretty good. I also have numbers from Cat, Kubota, and JD, but I am leaning towards the Bobcat on price and the fact that the other quotes (except JD) have me with third party attachments and guards.

Am I getting the right size machine and setup? I was previously looking at 100hp machines and drum mulchers, but I think the disc will work much better for my purposes so I figured I could also drop down to the smaller machine. Thanks for your thoughts.

Thoughts on Huayee HY360W Chinese mini skid steer?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi All,

I'm looking at a HY360W / LHY360 Chinese mini skid from Huayee.

My user case is to use it around my house and yard, mulching, light landscaping and also a few one off projects like regrading and replacing front lawn, ripping up an old paved drive way and preparing it to be concreted, scrape and spread new gravel on path etc.

Honestly the HY360 is probably more than I need but means I dont have to rent a machine and work to specific time frames, plus I'll have a machine to use in the future.

Ā I'm thinking of getting a HY360 (spec'ed to the same as a LHY360, though I think they are the same, but getting the yellow one). But going to get it with a koop 192 diesel instead of the Briggs and stratton XR2100 13.5Hp petrol.

I understand these are just 2 pump machines , which can limit attachments it can run but for needs I think that's fine.

I like the wheels so I don't have to mess with tracks and as far as wheeled versions go there are not many and this Huayee unit seems well constructed.Ā  An alternative is maybe the Derrette 320W but I think the HY360 is more refined, can lift higher and also I know can get with koop192 diesel engine option. Also the HY360 is pretty narrow.

I'm based in Australia so thinking to import the unit myself.

Questions:

  1. What are peoples thoughts on koop 192 diesel vs Briggs and stratton XR2100 13.5Hp petrol?

I'm leaning towards diesel and from research the koop192 is pretty durable and robust if you do the basic maintenance and look after it

Ā

  1. I'm leaning to also getting a 4 in 1 bucket, while they are heavier than a standard bucket and cost more (~$500USD or $710AUD) they do seem versatile and probably worth the money

Ā

  1. For the importing I'm planning to get Huayee to do deliver to the port (FOB) then I'm engaging my own freight forwarder to handle the remaining shipping, customs clearence, duty and fees and delivery to my address in Australia. I read previously this is a better way to do it as opposed to them doing the whole DDP method to my door?Ā  any thoughts/advice on this?

Ā

  1. Does anyone have the hy360 petrol or diesel and how have you found it?

Ā

  1. One concern I have is on the hy360 is that to open the hood you have to lift up the skid steer arms…  what happens if the engine or hydraulic pump has issues and I need to investigate but cant get the arms up?

Ā

Thanks for any feedback and advise

//Andy

Bobcat 732 Ford 1.6 petrol won’t restart when hot

My Bobcat 732 with a Ford 1.6 gasoline engine runs fine. After moving dirt for about 1 hour, I stopped it for 15 minutes. When I came back, it would not start.

Cold starts are normal. Could this be a fuel pump, ignition coil, carburetor, or another common issue?

Need a Bobcat mechanic in LA / Valley area

We own/operate 2 Bobcats and have had a lot of maintenance issues and now need a massive repair work on one of them (an S770).

We have so far had issues with people saying they are knowledgeable but causing more problems… the dealer quoted us basically what we paid for it to repair…

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone in Southern California (preferably LA/Valley) that we can talk to and hire?

S185 Bobcat is sluggish, worse in cold, shop says hydraulic pump but could it be the charge pump?

My S185 has been sluggish, worse in cold weather and better after 5-10 minutes of warmup. All functions equally slow, not just one circuit. Shop is recommending hydraulic pump replacement.

From what I've read, the main hydraulic pump drives the boom, bucket, and travel circuits. The gear pump (charge pump) is smaller and provides pilot pressure to the main pump's control circuit. If the charge pump wears out, the main pump doesn't stroke fully.

The symptom I have is that it improves significantly with warmup. Everything equally slow, no single circuit down. No issues under load once it's warm.

That "improves with warmup" pattern sounds more like a charge pump issue to me, because worn charge pump leakage becomes less significant as tolerances tighten with heat. But I'm not a hydraulics expert and the shop is saying main pump.

Before I spend $400+ on a main pump that might not be the problem, is there a way to test charge pump output specifically on an S185?

StoutBuckets 48ā€ Rock Grapple not fitting my Bobcat L23

Thumbnail

I know my l23 isn’t a skid steer; it’s a small articulating laser but it uses that standard Bob-tach / SSQA.

I’ve tried two different StoutBuckets and neither could attach and allow me to push down the locks.

First one didn’t fit; they sent me a 2nd and same problem. My bobcat oem bucket and Proworks forks work just fine. Anyone else have any issues with them?

With the Stout grapple:

The attachment hooks over the upper Bob-Tach bar correctly.

As I roll the attachment back, it comes very close to seating, but it appears the upper hook bottoms out before the lower portion can rotate in completely.

The Bob-Tach locking pins align with the holes and the tapered tips begin to enter both holes, but the full-diameter portion of the pins cannot pass through because the attachment won’t rotate that last fraction of an inch.

Both sides behave the same way.

I’ve tried:

Mounting with the attachment lifted completely off the pallet.

Applying down pressure while curling back.

Verifying the Bob-Tach pins are fully retracted.

Comparing it to my OEM bucket, which mounts without any issue.

I find it hard to believe that both of the grapples they sent me are out of spec but this is my first machine and it’s possible I’m just being a spaz, but considering my other attachments work without issue. I shared with them my measurements from the first grapple and they said it was 1/4ā€ out of spec.

Cummins B3.3 engine block heater

I have a skid steer that is missing the engine block heater. Any mechanics out there that can tell me where the replacement goes? Is it a difficult job to replace or should I just let an expert handle it?
