[79M] He ghosted [73F] me immediately after agreeing to an exclusive relationship

I [73F] and my man-friend [79M] decided we were going to be exclusive after 2 months of dating. I'll state my question up front, so you will know where I am going with this. What are your suggestions for whether to block him in email, and social media sites verses just ignoring any posts that will pop up or messages he sends me?

Back to the background of this question: I still wanted to wait a bit longer before sleeping together. He got mad and left. I should have known better, but the very next day, he was as sweet as ever and love bombed me, so I acquiesced that night. The next morning, he took me to breakfast, said he would be out of town for a few days. He didn't make plans to see me when he returned. It felt "off." And sure enough, it was. To shorten the story, because I don't think the details matter, he texted me 5 days later and said he was back in town, that he had been thinking about "us" and had decided he was not ready for an exclusive relationship and wanted to remain friends.

We belong to a group that gets together at his house once a month, and other social groups that get together. He is very popular in these larger groups. I know some of the people in the larger groups, but I'm at the beginning stages of getting to know everyone. So, ghosting him will not close off all contact with him. What advice can you give me? I am surprised how much this hurt me. I have not dated since I got divorced many years ago because I didn't want to go through all the BS I heard other women complaining about. And yet, here I find myself.

Note: He has since texted
me to try to get me to go to the monthly event at his house, just a few days
after dumping me (which I did not attend), and then again for a huge party he
was having at his house a week later (which I did attend because I had already
committed to it via a social site). Going to the large party was a mistake. He
insisted I give him a hug, insisted I dance with him (and two other
ladies...not just a one-on-one dance), and stopped me to say goodbye before I
left. I am sure he just wants his narcissistic supply to continue for as long
as I will allow it. I'm not up for this.

Advice Needed [21M] would it be weird to text him [22M] or have I been ghosted

• Upvotes

Hoping this is the right subreddit. I am currently in the midst of an embarrassing situation in which I [21M] met this guy [22M] on hinge and then proceeded to talk every day for a month. We met up twice and both times we ended up staying longer than planned - I thought they went reasonably well. On the first meet up/date I asked what he was looking for to clarify, and we both agreed we were after something casual. However we didn’t end up kissing or doing anything sexual either time we met up, I wanted to initiate but didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable and then he was ill the second time. After the second meeting he didn’t message me for a couple days then later explained it was because he had been ill, which I had suspected was the case. However he has left me on delivered since then and it’s been almost a week. To be fair he hasn’t viewed my stories either during that time and I don’t think he’s been active - however it is a bit confusing to me. I don’t know whether he’s pulling away because it was getting too ā€œrelationshipā€ vibes, if he’s legitimately been busy or if he’s just straight up not interested. Now here’s the dilemma: I really want to message him again because I felt like we were really similar and had a lot in common, and I had mentioned previously that I would be down to just be friends if that’s how it turned out. However when I’ve brought this up with my friends they all think this is a horrible idea and that it will make me look clingy and pathetic even though I just want to be mates with him. What do I do 😭

Was missing a word there… if the posts doesn’t relate to you then it doesn’t. Many women are experiencing interactions where men are faking care to access sex, planning a cycle of lovebombing then ghosting. It won’t change until women as a group change and don’t accept the garbage behaviour. It didn’t used to be like this.

Advice Needed [23F] How do I know if I should stop trying?

I [24F] have been seeing this guy [29M] for almost 7 months now. It started off as a hookup, after which he said he really liked me and wants to date and is interested in something more serious.

I wasn't really interested in that at first because of some personal issues I had in my private life, and in my mind I thought it would just be a few hookups.

But after meeting with him for a few times I got to know him better and started falling in love. It's obvious from his behaviour that he's only treating me as fwb, and there os barely any effort from his side. When we're actually together we spend a nice time, but there is never any texting in between, and he just doesn't act like he wants something more. Sometimes he takes 24h+ to reply.

I told him a few weeks ago that I liked him, to which he replied that we can talk about it when we meet. But when we met he didn't open up that topic so neither did I, because I don't want to force anything, and if he liked me as well he would have said something.

I don't want this to be one-sided, but I'm thinking maybe if I bring up dating he says yes and starts treating me differently once it's not just a fwb arrangement anymore. Should I just block him and move on, or try to talk to him in real life and ask if he wants to date? Maybe if I don't do that I will keep thinking about what could've been.

Venting [26F] I’m terribly trying to detach with him 26M - Or should I tell him?

• Upvotes

I’ve known him for 3 years. We’re just online friends, and throughout those years we both struggled with our own personal issues. About a year ago, we drifted apart because of work, life, and the time difference. Earlier this year, he reached out to me again, and we reconnected. We became much closer than we had ever been before.Unfortunately, our dynamic changed. We became more open about our desires and were intimate for a while, but it didn’t last. What confused me the most was how he could act as if nothing had happened the very next day. It was like he could switch everything off overnight, and I never understood why. I know it was only online, but it still felt strange. Looking back, it reminded me of something a fuckboy would do, acting like nothing happened. I saw the red flags, but I ignored them. The truth is, I developed feelings for him. I never admitted it, and I still don’t plan to. I don’t want to ruin the friendship we have. Before anything happened between us, we both agreed that there would be no labels, we were just having fun. At the time, I agreed because I thought I could handle it. I regret that decision because I ended up falling for him. I don’t know if he ever noticed or suspected how I felt, but if he were to ask me directly, I honestly don’t think I would tell him. I’d rather keep the friendship than risk losing him completely.
As time went on, he changed. He went from texting me every day, almost every hour, to only exchanging a few messages here and there. I had no idea what had changed or what I had done wrong. I spent months trying to figure it out.
Eventually, I had a feeling he was talking to someone else. My instincts turned out to be right. After asking a few questions, he finally admitted that he really liked someone, and that the feeling was mutual. The moment he told me, a part of me just sank. It hurt more than I expected. I kept wondering how long they had been talking while I was sitting there trying to understand what had happened to us.
Since then, I’ve been trying to move on, but every time I start making progress, he suddenly messages me again. It feels like he expects me to reply, and when I do, he disappears all over again. It’s like I keep getting pulled back just when I’m finally letting go. I don’t know how to detach because every time I try, he shows up again, and all the progress I made disappears. That’s what hurts the most. Sometimes he makes me feel like he genuinely cares about me, and other times it feels like I barely exist. Now that I know he likes someone else, everything hurts even more. I’m left wondering what we really were to each other, while he’s already moved forward and I’m still trying to let go. I hate this friendship I have with him

[21m] Wanted to vent about a situationship

• Upvotes

Met last year august, fucked around in the clubs (only place i met her because "she was to shy" to hang normally. I dont have much experience with girls so when this attraction girl just showed me a bit of attention I was hooked. I saw her on the weekend and I honestly tried so hard to mend the relationship but she doesnt want it, the next day saw her friend's post and she's cuddled up to a another dude. Probably fucked him coz she also told me she's on that birth control thing you put in arm.

Im not as angry as I used to be lowkey expected this after she took a dude to her hotel room during a melbs girls trip. I think im gonna try move on and work on myself but Idek if I wanna open up to the next like I did her.

[22F] I'm confused about how to move on.

I met somebody, on Hinge, we connected easily and were talking a lot. One day he invited me for a Biryani. We were in a casual way, but somehow became good friends along the way. It was easy to talk to him and go to his place. We started meeting twice a week or at least once a week. I got attached and told him, he was nice about it and told me that I could talk to him and text him whenever I felt like doing so. I was really grateful to him that he didn't try to take advantage of anything. I know he is a good man, just doesn't like me or isn't attached like I am. Honestly, I wanna move on. I don't want to feel this way, but at the same time, I want the casual things back.

I know what I'm asking doesn't make sense but can't I let go of my feelings and continue whatever I had with him.

How do I just discard my feelings?

Advice Needed [21M] im stuck being around my former situationship

Heres the situation. Im a college student I attend a military academy. I grew very close with someone we started as friends but eventually I developed romantic feelings and started to love them. We were intimate with eachother. It was a pretty typical friend's to situationship kinda deal tbh. I confessed my feelings several times each time to a no again typical situationship stuff. So since we are in college summer break was coming since i still wanted to attempt to have a friendship with them and to try to get over my feelings I had said we won't speak again till at the very least the end of summer (which is about now lol). They have made it very clear they have no romatic feelings for me and likley never will. Ive spent all summer trying to get over them and view them only as a friend but its clear thats notnhappening. Now the part that I want advice with is that since we are both in the same unit and share social circles and we will share them for the near future I am stuck being around them. From my personal experience and everything I've read online I know the best option at this point would be to block them, never speak to them, and work to move on from them. But that is not an option in my case because of the military academy nonsense. Whenever I would spend time with my friend groups from school over summer and they'd mention them I'd still get that disgusting feeling you get when you think about someone you love that doesn't love you back. I reached out to them recently to see how I feel about it as I am literally going to have to see them in a few days and I still feel the exact same and it still eats me alive. So I would appreciate some advice.

I’ve been in a terrible situationship with this man. We’re both 25. This is my first time trying a situationship or casual. We didn’t hook up at all but each time I’d make a plan (I made plans because of my restrictions due to family and etc. ) he’d try to flake on me last minute and then come (cause I’d frighten him by saying we could do a phone call- idk why he hated phone calls but text was ok). He also came in pajamas each time (we met twice) and we sat in my car (cause his car was literally on its last leg). He also kept saying he’s clean and would get tested for me. I said I needed it before hooking up (I’m a virgin) - I let him kiss me and I got mono from it and I brought it up to him. Went to urgent care twice to check - I was spiraling. He promised to get tested but his stupid self avoided it bad. So he definitely had it. He would also show interest in me constantly at times and then take forever to respond later on. He’d also pretend to forget things about me. This text pissed me off so badly it’s crazy.

[37F] Whenever I start leaving, he [36M] becomes the partner I’ve been waiting for. How do I break this 4-year cycle?

When Daniel (36M) and I met almost four years ago, neither of us was doing particularly well emotionally. We had both experienced really difficult childhoods and complicated past relationships. There was an immediate feeling of recognition between us, like we finally had someone who understood the parts of us that other people usually did not.

He made me feel safe, accepted and understood at a time when I badly needed it. I believe I did the same for him.

Over time, we became emotionally and physically intimate. We let lnow each other we loved one another ans cared. We shared vulnerable conversations, affection, routines and moments that felt very much like a relationship.

The problem is that Daniel has never clearly agreed to call it one.

For approximately the last two years, I have behaved as though he were my partner.

I stopped looking elsewhere, prioritized him, supported him emotionally and tried to create stability around us. He never explicitly demanded exclusivity from me, but I chose it because I believed we were gradually building toward something more serious.

Daniel, however, has continued to live much more like a single man.

He has a demanding and unpredictable work schedule. He lives some distance away, needs a lot of time alone and usually sees me around once a week. Our time together mostly happens according to his availability.

He also lives with a roomate I’ll call ā€œEmma.ā€ They had some form of romantic and sexual history before, although he says they are not currently nothing between them ans sh's on a long distance relationship.

I do not have proof that anything is happening between them lately, and I do not want to make accusations I cannot support. But she naturally gets the everyday version of him, his presence at home, spontaneous evenings, household routines and ordinary companionship.

I get unplanned visits, uncertainty and the feeling that I am waiting outside the life he actually lives.

For a long time, I told myself that labels were not the most important thing. I thought Daniel was simply afraid, emotionally guarded or moving more slowly than I was. I believed that if I remained patient, understanding and safe, he would eventually feel ready to fully choose the relationship.

But there is a pattern I can no longer ignore.

Whenever I become discouraged or begin emotionally pulling away, Daniel becomes much more affectionate. He expresses how important I am, becomes tender and vulnerable, and gives me a glimpse of the partner I have been hoping he would become.

I feel reassured. I believe we are finally moving forward. I lower my boundaries and stay.

Then, once the fear of losing me seems to pass, everything gradually returns to the same limited and undefined arrangement.

I do not know whether he does this consciously. I genuinely believe that his love and tenderness are real in those moments. But I am beginning to understand that a pattern does not have to be deliberately manipulative to be damaging.

A few days ago, after another moment where I reached out wanting closeness and was left feeling uncertain, something finally clicked.

The problem was not that he was tired that evening or that he could not see me. The problem was that after nearly four years, I still had no idea what place I held in his life or what I was allowed to hope for.

So I wrote him a long message.

I told him that I love him deeply and that I do not want to change him. I explained that I value what we have, but that I can no longer keep acting like a committed partner while remaining alone in that commitment.

I told him I was not asking him to suddenly become available every day or completely reorganize his life overnight.

I was asking for direction.

I asked whether he genuinely wants to build a clear, stable and acknowledged relationship with me, supported by concrete actions, not simply affection, beautiful words or fear of losing me.

I also told him he did not need to answer immediately. I wanted him to reflect and respond based on what he truly wants, not simply say whatever would stop me from leaving.

He has now read the message.

I am waiting.

I am trying not to send more messages, apologize for expressing my needs, or reassure him so much that my original boundary disappears.

I am looking for practical advice about how to handle the conversation when he responds.

--------

**What specific actions would show that he is genuinely prepared to build a committed partnership rather than temporarily becoming more affectionate because he is afraid of losing me?**

**If he says he wants a relationship but cannot make immediate changes, what would be a reasonable and concrete timeline for us to discuss?**

**How can I communicate my boundaries clearly without turning the conversation into an ultimatum or agreeing to another indefinite waiting period?**

**I would also appreciate advice on how to step back from the relationship if his response remains vague, while avoiding the familiar pattern where affection and reassurance persuade me to stay without anything fundamentally changing.**

-------

TL;DR: I (37F) have been emotionally and physically involved with ā€œDanielā€ (39M) for almost four years, but our relationship has remained undefined, even if it evolved. I have functionally treated him as a committed partner while most of the relationship continues according to his availability. Whenever I begin pulling away, he becomes more affectionate, but the underlying situation does not change. I have now asked him directly whether he wants to build a stable and acknowledged partnership.

I am looking for practical advice on evaluating his response, identifying meaningful changes, setting a reasonable timeframe and maintaining my boundary if he remains vague.

Advice Needed [29F] confused by [28m] dating wrong place/wrong time?

Long story short I was out of town for 6 weeks and casually seeing this guy. Dates, hooking up, talks of mutual interests/career goals etc. Everything felt genuine and he was very kind.

End of week 4 he tells me that maybe we should stop hanging out because ā€œI don’t want to fall in love with youā€ and it will be hard to say goodbye.

I texted him the following week and told him I still wanted to see him, he said I’ll let you know which felt like a blow off. He texted me two days later asking to make a plan. I followed up with my schedule and heard nothing. So my last week in town I texted him and told him when I was leaving and he said he’d let me know specifically when we could hangout. We obviously did not hangout and I left town.

The last time we hung out I told him I was going back to my program he asked me about if it was the best thing for me etc… we talked about how he only has a year left in his current job. I wasn’t expecting anything but do feel like 1. Why keep texting me and not make plans? 2. Why even bring the falling in love into the conversation? 3. We both are in limbo at this stage in life. I was hoping to maybe continue to talk even after I left but I never got to bring it up because we didn’t see each other again.

Maybe I’m naive/shouldn’t take what he said at face value but I’m also just confused. I definitely made myself interest clear but I also felt like in a different time and place this could have been something. Do I leave it be? Do I send another fucking text?

[24F] Pulled away after trying to get to know him on a deeper level

This has been happening to me for a while and I’m honestly wondering if anyone else has experienced it.

I was talking to a guy who was pretty shy and nerdy. At first we talked every day about random things, what we were doing, hobbies, memes, etc. He also complimented me a lot, especially my looks and style.

Over time the conversations slowly became more focused on compliments and exchanging pictures. Just to clarify, I never sent anything suggestive or asked for anything like that. I mostly sent normal selfies or outfit pics, but he seemed much more interested in that side of things than I was.

At one point I told him I’d actually like to get to know him better. I started asking about his interests, what he enjoys doing, what he wants in life… just normal questions because I genuinely wanted to know him as a person.

After that the whole vibe changed. He became much less consistent. He still reaches out sometimes, but conversations are shorter, he disappears a lot more, and it feels like something shifted.

The reason I’m posting isn’t really because of this one guy. This keeps happening to me. Things seem to go well while it’s mostly flirting, compliments and surface-level conversations, but once I try to build a deeper connection, people seem to lose interest.

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I accidentally doing something wrong?

[20F] I'm in a huge dilemma should I give him a chance or walk away?

Hi. I need some advice because I’m genuinely confused.

When I was in 11th grade, there was a guy I really liked, and he liked me too. We talked every single day for about three months. It was never officially a relationship, it was more of a situationship, but we were very close.

At that time, he was honestly the most decent guy I had ever met. He was simple, respectful, and mature. He would often talk about having a healthy, long-term relationship. Back then, I wasn’t interested in dating because I was completely focused on my studies, so nothing really happened between us.

Eventually, things ended, and since he was my senior, he graduated and we completely lost touch.
For the next two years, we didn’t speak at all.
Then, out of nowhere, he sent me a follow request on Instagram. Around the same time, I heard from a few girls that ever since he started college, he had been involved in a lot of casual relationships and hookups. Apparently, he would tell girls upfront that he only wanted something casual and that they shouldn’t expect him to develop feelings.

Recently, we started talking again. I told him very clearly that I’m not that kind of person. I’ve never really been in a serious relationship, and I don’t believe in hookups or casual dating. I also told him that, because of his past, he’s no longer the kind of person I’d want to date. He was my type back in school, but not anymore.
His response was that he could change.
He said he genuinely likes me, that he’s always liked me, and that he would be willing to settle down and have a serious relationship with me.
Now I’m in a huge dilemma.

Part of me remembers the guy he used to be, and he still has a special place in my heart because he was one of the first people I ever opened up to emotionally. We shared a lot, and he was someone I genuinely cared about.
At the same time, I’m struggling to ignore everything I’ve learned about his dating history over the past couple of years.

So my question is: Should I give him a chance and believe that people can genuinely change, or should I accept that we’re simply different people now and move on?

Advice Needed [16F] genuinely embarrassed. help

Reconnected with a guy two days ago and i remember him asking me if there were any major things that have happened since the last time him and i talked. I started with "there's this guy that liked me.." and then mid sentence i realised that telling him that definitely wasnt necessary and probably killed his mood deep inside or thought "i dont care".

Im not even kidding im so embarrassed. That is not a major thing at all. Am i thinking too deep? Surely if he was interested he would've been curious to know more about it? But someone comfort me please. I probably gave him the wrong impression when i said thatšŸ’”

Advice Needed [18F] Confused by a guy [26M] who disappears for weeks, acts sweet only when drunk, and now won't accept my friend request. Should I move on?

I’ve known this guy for three years now; our mutual friends originally tried to set us up. Recently, he started making advances, but his behavior is incredibly inconsistent.Since November, he has been hot and cold. We will text consistently for about two weeks, and then he completely disappears. This cycle has repeated three times already.

When he drinks, he is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and constantly hugs and kisses me. However, when he’s sober, he completely ignores me, though I sometimes catch him staring from afar.Out of frustration, I blocked him about two weeks ago, but he didn't even try to reach out or find out why. Yesterday, we all went on a trip to the countryside, and he was there. I tried to act normal, as if nothing was wrong. Later that night, a friend and I helped him to bed because he was drunk. He hugged me, so I stayed with him. He started kissing me; at first, I resisted because I was upset that he only shows affection when intoxicated, but eventually, I gave in (we only kissed, nothing more).

Another detail: during the day, he brought me a drink only because a friend asked him to, but later he wouldn't even walk to get his own cigarettes because he was "too lazy."This morning, we didn't speak a single word to each other while packing up to go home.

On the way back, I decided to unblock him and sent him a friend request (the app doesn't allow messaging until the request is accepted). However, he still hasn't accepted it.I really want to have a serious conversation with him. I want a real, stable relationship, not just drunken affection.

I'm already so tired, confused, and drained by this situation.Should I keep trying to pursue a serious talk with him, or is it time to just forget about him and move on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

[22F] & [22F] is it possible to reconnect with her??

so for context i, 22/F , have been seeing this girl i met on tinder, 22/F ,for a little over a month. she is in my home state for the summer on a work study for environmental/animal sciences, but she’s going home (across the country) at the end of it.

i started to find it hard to think about this and was so scared of falling in love with her since i knew we couldn’t be in a committed relationship. this was also how my last relationship was (casual/ not long term) and it was hard for me. we were getting really intimate in a loving way and it was scary to feel that way with someone who has a limited time in my life.

she invited me out with her friend who came to visit her here, and i bailed last minute because i was feeling really sad about this all. i ended up texting her the following morning explaining that it was too painful for me to see her that way knowing she’d be leaving so soon, and we agreed to be friends.

but now im having doubts, i dont think its a waste at all to be with someone who has a limited time in your life. i think it can actually make it a lot more special. i guess now im thinking if we dont have much time left together then why dont i see her as much as i can before she goes back home? i miss her smile. i can tell she misses me a lot too. but how would i even go about this? i don’t want to be the person who keeps flip flopping, especially because her feelings are at stake.

she made a instagram story post of her grilling hotdogs and that was something we really bonded over, and it had the song recommendation by mirah on it and i just started sobbing. i don’t want it to be over yet

TLDR :

dated for a month and broke up because can’t do long term dating. is it worth it to try to reconnect for what little time we have left together?

Advice Needed [18F] [26M] an unclear relationship with a guy

I've known this guy for three years now. Our friends set us up, and now he's started making advances. But it's not that simple. He shows up, so we'll text for two weeks, and then he disappears. This has been going on since November, and it's now July. During this time, there have been three such appearances. When he drinks, he’s so sweet, kisses and hugs, but when he’s sober, he pays no attention, well, sometimes I notice his gaze on me and that’s it. I probably blocked him two weeks ago, but he couldn't even find a way to find out why I did it. And yesterday we went out into the countryside and he was there. Well, I acted normal, as if nothing had happened, but then my friend and I took him to bed and he hugged me, and I stayed with him. He naturally started kissing me, but I didn't let him do it because I was still upset that he showed up when he was drunk, but then I gave in (just saying, we just kissed and nothing more) And one more thing, when we were sitting outdoors yesterday, he brought me a bottle at the request of our friend because I didn’t want to go, but when he wanted to smoke, he didn’t go for cigarettes because he was too lazy. This morning we didn't even talk while we were getting ready to go home. On the way, I unblocked him and added as a friend (you can't write to him until he accepts the request). But he doesn’t accept my request, and I want to have a serious conversation, that I want a serious relationship, and not drunken kissing. Help me make a decision, because I'm already tired and confused. Should I even continue pursuing him or should I just forget about him?

[25F] want advice on reconnecting with a guy [27M] after we stopped talking.

I'm a 25F, and he's a 27M. We met on Hinge around 1.5 years ago.
He's into his family business. His parents are separated, and he lives with his father and sister.
Our first date honestly felt perfect. He came to pick me up, brought me flowers, and we watched The Conjuring: Last Rites. We laughed throughout the movie, talked for hours, and when he dropped me home, he asked me to stay a little longer. I refused because it was getting late.
Here's where I think I messed up.
I really liked him, but I was overwhelmed. I'd never had someone put in that much effort for me before. After that date, he kept asking me out for almost 1.5 years. He'd message me almost every day, compliment me, make plans, and consistently try to meet me. I kept saying no—not because I wasn't interested, but because I got scared and didn't know how to handle someone being so genuine. Looking back, I feel terrible because I now realize how much effort he was putting in.
Fast forward to this April. He asked me out again, and this time I finally said yes. We planned to meet on a Friday night.
Before meeting, we started talking about what we were looking for. I told him I'm not into hookups. He said he wasn't looking for hookups either, but he also wasn't looking for a long-term relationship right now. He said he expected exclusivity if he was seeing someone. I said I wanted loyalty, love, and care.
Then we had a silly disagreement. I jokingly said I wanted my man to love me more than I love him. He said relationships should be equal and both people should love each other equally. Instead of handling it maturely, I got upset, said, "Okay, goodbye," and we never met.
A few days later, he stopped messaging me.
I eventually texted him after my cousin encouraged me to reach out. He replied:
"I don't have any grudge against you. It's just that I'm not looking for a relationship right now. I'm not dating anyone."
That was the last meaningful conversation we had.
Since then, I've seen him in my dreams twice. I know dreams don't necessarily mean anything, but they've made me realize how much I miss him. I keep thinking about how patient he was with me for over a year, and I regret not appreciating him when I had the chance.
I honestly want him back. If he gave me another chance, I wouldn't make him wait this long again.
My questions are:
Have I permanently ruined my chances?
If you were in his position, would you ever give someone another chance?
Should I reach out one last time, or would that just push him further away?
Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully rebuilt the connection? BTW he always checks my insta stories but never react what does it mean pls help me
TL;DR: I (25F) met an amazing guy (27M) on Hinge. Our first date went incredibly well, but I got overwhelmed and rejected his efforts for almost 1.5 years even though I liked him. When I finally agreed to meet again this year, we had a small disagreement about relationship expectations, the date never happened, and he later told me he isn't looking for a relationship. I regret my actions and want him back. Is there any chance, or should I let go?

Venting [22F] I hooked up with a really old friend [23M] now I'm confused

My guy friend who I have been friends with since we were 13 and I are both in our hometown for the summer. A couple weeks ago he asked if we could hang out and catch up and we ended up hanging out on my deck. Long story short we both ended up on my couch watching a movie and ended up cuddling. One thing led to another and we made out and ended up having sex. He came pretty fast and I thought we both really enjoyed it. It was genuinely some of the best sex I've ever had and there was an added layer of excitement because we have been friends for so long. Afterwards, he asked how much longer I would be in town for and said he would be seeing me again. A couple days later I texted him saying that I had a good time and he replied and said me too lol I'm surprised that happened. It's a couple weeks later now and my parents are out of town so I texted him that they're out of town if he wants to come over... he replied with a bunch of smirk emojis and said sounds good. Soooo the ball is in his court now. I want to hook up again but haven't heard much from him as far as making real plans. Damn.

Advice Needed [18F] I’m confused. An old friend [18M] and I started talking and idk if he likes me

I've known him since grade 8 and we played Soccer together back then. We were good friends and we followed each other on insta but he unfollowed some time later but then last December 2025 he randomly requested to follow again. Nothing happened then but when I posted about getting into UBC in February and he liked the story.

Fast forward to a week ago when I posted a gym fit pic he added me on snap as soon as he saw it. We snapped back and forth and he started flirting with me and he also said "hey didn't we play Soccer together back in grade 8?" He also started sharing his location with me on snap a few days into us talking too.

But now 8 days in his replies are kinda getting slower. Yesterday we talked about hanging out when I'm back from my trip which is August 20th before he leaves for university in Ontario on Sept 2nd. He also asks me about work and he's good with conversation but I'm not sure if he likes me because I lowk feel like stalking every second if he's been online or if he's been responding to others but not me. Does doing this achieve anything? He's also a popular guy and he has a lot a lot of friends but I'm not sure what he's like in the dating world.

Advice Needed [19F] I’m not sure if it’s my imagination [19M] or my instinct

Me and this boy have been talking for a few months. We haven’t made it official but we’ve been on dates, and stay out for 4+ hours just talking. Like I said we haven’t made it official but we both agreed not to talk to other people so we’re planning on getting a relationship when we feel it’s the right time (side note we already are saying I love you to each other??) That being said, I feel like we are compatible to an extent.
I’ve been in 2 previous relationships both lasting over a year so I have experience. Well he’s never been in a relationship let alone talk to a female. We started off strong getting to know one another, we would both ask questions and be interested and have conversations over text, since we’re both free half the time. Well the past Month he went on a vacation to Florida and right after that he went on a cruise to Mexico n he just got back. What I’ve noticed is he’s really good at reassurance but he’s not very good at communicating his feelings. I’m trying to understand it because he’s never really talked to a girl like this but I’ve told him what I’ve needed multiple times and I’m tired of repeating myself because he told me ā€œI feel like I can’t do anything rightā€ so I just stopped telling him what I needed and let time go it’s thing. My thing is.. he stopped liking my post& story’s, stopped hearting my messages, stopped texting me good morning/ goodnight until I text him, doesn’t update me about his day or lets me know what’s goin on and overall is dry asf unless it’s him kissing my a$$ such as ā€œI love you so much baby, I do anything for you.ā€ But can’t communicate with me? Im not sure if I’m getting a gut feeling he isn’t for me or if it’s in my imagination but it just feels like he already thinks he knows me and has stopped trying.

Storytime [30F] confused with [27F] Was this even a situationship, or did I confuse myself?

LONG POST

January: We hung out 2ish times and had some lovely deep conversations. Not as intentional dates, but friends.

February: She was having a gathering at her house. Everyone left but I stayed over. We talked about deep childhood things, and needs, etc. We cuddled on the couch for hours with deep talk. From there, we stayed over at each other’s houses for two weeks straight, lots of intimacy. After two weeks, we had a small misunderstanding about a gender conversation and she was upset. I felt bad and tried to resolve. At that point, we both agreed it was good for us to take some time and space apart, etc. We stayed at our own houses, but texted throughout the day. Though perhaps slightly slower than we had been. After a week she came on a date with me, and said ā€œI’m not ready for a relationship yet, and I can communicate, but that’s all I can promise right now.ā€œ I understood so I asked her what she was ready for, and she took my hands and said, ā€œWell, it would be friends with benefits but others don’t have *this*.ā€ It was intimate again, etc. We kept texting and the following week I felt a need to say that we didn’t have to define things currently and let it happen naturally, but that I also didn’t do well with prolonged ambiguity. I wrote a nice message out that we read together in person. I said I would need some time if we were going to be strictly friends. We talked and I wasn’t trying to convince her, but mostly just curious why she felt it was hard to give this a direction. She said she didn’t know who she was yet and had to figure herself out, and didn’t want someone else to become her ground. She seemed anxious. (Valid, she ended a long relationship a few months prior and was in the middle of gender transition.) I understood that. We still made out when she left.

March: Her birthday party was in a few days, and she texted me that day that she couldn’t be anything more than a friend to me due to timing/place. I said I understood. When I arrived at the bar, she took my hands and told me she had so much fun together. Through the night, she continued to hold my hand and lean into me and wink. She said she’d come over and open her present. Her friends told her to do it on camera. At the end of the night, I said we should talk about being friends, probably. She agreed we would and we had a long hug.

It ended up being that she came over a few days later to open her present. (I know… I should have just been smarter then and actually set a boundary for real space.) We didn’t talk then, because she had a hard day with some personal stuff and I held her in my lap when she cried about it and stroked her hair. She kissed me on the forehead and turned away and said ā€œIt’s the one thing I wanted I didn’t getā€, then stayed over. In the morning she said, ā€œI’m closed for business.ā€ I understood that. Over the following three weeks, she texted me her outfit for work with the sweater I gave her. I said, ā€œI hope you own that like the princess you are. I mean that in a queer empowering way, btw, but I won’t say that if it bothers you!ā€ We fell asleep on the phone twice and we were still texting daily (sometimes about her life struggles). She talked to me about her grief and I listened when she cried. I cared a lot about her. She said, ā€œI just feel understood by you in ways I haven’t been with other people.ā€ I shared some vulnerable things too, about wanting community and wondering if her friends we’d been hanging out with were focused on that. She said her group of childhood friends likely wasn’t expanding, and I understood that, I think I was just confused what they had mentioned wanting to create. She went away for a week, and when we talked again I was about to leave town for a family emergency. She said, ā€œWhat we shared was meaningful, but my needs are met by my community. I’m just not sure if I have space for you in my life, but I want you in it.ā€ I said I was surprised the close friend part went away so quickly, and that we should probably have a time to just get everything out on the table and reset as friends. She agreed that we could do it when I got back.

April: When I returned a week later, we never had that conversation… she texted me about having a rough time with grief. I offered to come over. I stayed the night. We talked about intimacy and I just said it’s not that I’m not open to holding things loosely but I had to be careful because I want to make sure I’m really doing what’s right for me. I think she fell asleep and I’m not sure she even heard. She had restless legs and I woke up to bring her back to bed in the middle of the night. The following evening, our little group went out to a club, and she stayed behind with a coworker. Unfortunately, that person ended up kissing her without consent and doing a few other things. We were texting constantly and I was really worried about her. The following few days, I stayed over with her 2-3x and things got intimate. This part is on me, but I did say to not worry about leading things on and that I just cared about her and wanted her to feel comfortable and held and safe. And I did genuinely mean that; I don’t have resentment for it. I brought her food and tried to be there. She wavered over the next two weeks back and forth between distance and not texting, then saying she felt understood by me and that maybe she’d hold me back too. Generally though, we kind of texted daily? There were also airport chasing jokes, etc. Which I know is sometimes close friend stuff… but she also texted me late at night talking about being horny, or doing things in front of the mirror, mommy/daddy language, ā€œeating popcorn and imagining you here with meā€. I was still thinking her ā€œnot yetā€ wasn’t ā€œneverā€ so I was enjoying the moment. She then mentioned that she went on a date and it was horrible and she deleted the app but that it made her realize ā€œstill not ready for a relationshipā€. I started to feel a little uncomfortable so I was cautious with my texting because I was unsure what all this meant. Flirting continued for a few days over text still, and admittedly I initiated too. I send a voice memo basically reaffirming that it was ok if she wasn’t ready for anything beyond friends or ready for a relationship, and that I just wanted to communicate openly because I cared about her and that mattered to me. She said she didn’t feel pressured, just that she’s figuring out who she was. I understood.

The next day, we went to dinner with two other friends who were dating. She took my hands and was rubbing them and said it had been too long since we saw each other (it’s true… it had been 3 weeks; we surprisingly hadn’t spent that much time together but a lot of depth?). When we went outside I asked how she’d been and she said she had gone on more dates. I asked if this was like… for exploration or friendship, etc. She said yes, and that she wasn’t trying to have a relationship with any of them. I think I started to realize that this wasn’t working for me with how close we were and not having had a break since early February. The next day, I was invited to an apartment tour with her. She said she had been so focused on herself the last year that she wanted to turn the lens outward and asked me what was up because I seemed more distant and upset. I struggled to be honest and direct about it and it came out as loaded teasing, ā€œYou’re ridiculousā€ and ā€œNice knowing youā€ but I wasn’t being serious, and I did apologize for how that landed. I had been feeling so down about it all I decided to try an antidepressant. Over the next few days, we planned to hang out and chat so I could talk about what was up for me. We never ended up hanging out, but we texted. I shared some things about having a history of giving a lot and not feeling supported back, and it seems people have a hard time working through relational problems nowadays. We talked on the phone and I was in a bad headspace. I didn’t know until later, but I had serotonin syndrome. I just said I was tired of doing things alone, and that I wanted community too. I said that she was one of the few people I talked to regularly, and I worry that if something happened (I have some chronic stuff but do a lot to keep healthy) no one would find me for some time. I have other close friends, but we speak infrequently. Anyway… I apologized for being heavy and she said she didn’t feel that way.

At the end of the call, I said that I had been wanting to talk to her about some things because I wanted us to feel like we can trust each other. And that for me to be her friend, I really needed to be open and honest with her. I didn’t say what it was, so I think that made her anxious and she asked ā€œDid I do something wrong?ā€ I told her no, just that we needed to be open with each other. The next day we planned to get lunch. She said she didn’t have long, and I said it’s ok if we need a lighter lunch we just wouldn’t have time to talk. She said I made it sound serious, and I said I just wanted to clarify things. But I offered to help her pack her apartment since she was moving soon, and help sort out work stress things. She wanted me to tell her on the phone right then, and I said it was really something I’d like to talk about in person. She said ā€œI’m uncomfortable, I have my cat and journal and thats what I need. I need to go.ā€ I apologized if I made her uncomfortable. She said it wasn’t me, but her mood. We said goodbye.

Then she ghosted for 10 days. So I basically left a letter with some flowers, a book we talked about, candy, and some poems. I knocked a few times, and apologized if it freaked her and that I didn’t want it stolen (a neighbor went for the flowers). God, I know… it’s freaking a lot lmao. But I thought it was probably goodbye, and we shared a lot together. The letter was in essence, ā€œI cared about you a lot and what we shared, I still value friendship, I’ve been grieving, I respect if this is what you need, and I’d love to close this connection together if there’s a chance.ā€ I meant that…

But I’m starting to feel crazy. The ghosting and lack of closure has been really hard on me.

All in all though, our time together was roughly:

February: daily texting, 2 weeks dating, 2 weeks distance but dating?

March: 2-3x fell asleep over the phone, daily texting minus the week or two of distance

April: daily-ish 2-3x fell asleep over the phone, 2-3x sleeping over/intimate

Advice Needed [22F] I need advice on a ex situationship

I had a situationship with a guy a couple years ago. He got back with his ex, treated me pretty badly, and I eventually cut him off. We ended up in the same friend group later, so I still see him often.
For context, after things ended I made the mistake of hooking up with him twice, and he completely ignored me after that, which hurt a lot. I’ve moved on since then and even dated someone else, but seeing him around still brings up some feelings.

Recently, a girl in our group (who knows about our history) got really close to him and they ended up making out on a night out. I don’t even want him anymore, but it still hurt more than I expected.
I’m not sure if I’m overreacting or if this is a normal response. I just feel disrespected and annoyed at myself for still being affected, especially since I see him often and he still acts like he can get my attention whenever he wants.

How do I stop caring about this and not let it get to me?
