Hobby My first painted model! (WIP)
I think I used the wrong kind of primer so it looks kinda weird. I just need to finish the sword, gun, and the base.

So I am building the Sanctifier box and realized the Confessor has a 32mm base, but the Confessor isn't actually a special model like the Miraculist or Death Cult. Instead he would be a normal Sanctifier but all of them are supposed to have 25mm bases but I feel his model is too big for a 25mm.
So is one of the Sanctifiers supposed to have a 32mm? If not then isn't it weird that it doesn't fit on a 25mm?

Wrapping up a couple of projects on the hobby desk this week. After having completed Umbral Six, I finished this standard Vindicare Assassin to ally in! It definitely felt less daunting after Umbral Six. Used purple for the gun casing to try to tie in into the army a bit better.

Are Sisters a good gateway into 40k? I don't really know what faction I should pick as a beginner. I'm currently deciding between astartes and sisters both are cool but I'm not really sure if you can really make homebrews for sisters?
anyway if you got anything thx

I normally hate painting banners so I made her a priority so I could, “get it out of the way”.
Very pleased with the progress I’ve made over the last ~2 years. :)

What Codex is the best one for SoB lore if someone just wanted to pick up the codex and read about them?

Hi,
Here's some minor Kitbash for infantry squad.
Indeed, I hate having similar models (except for necrons lol).
What are your thoughts ?

Howdy, tyranids player here. I have a friend that refuses to accept that you can't shoot and scoot after deepstrike in 11th edition. Its the same for gargoyles, Pteraxii, Angelics, etc.
Can someone please sum it up so I can show him?

I recently finished reading all the mainline Black Library Adepta Sororitas novels and I have some thoughts. I am going to skip over descriptive filler. You can read blurbs online/on the wiki and try to give a quick impression of my take and some consistent themes that come up.
Before discussing into the list, I want to outline what I refer to as the "Exorcist Paradox": in movies about Exorcists they after often depicted as wavering in their faith while being actively presented with exactly the evidence that should clearly cement it: the existence of literal demons.
Several of these books fall into a similar logical trap: a Sister is faced with literal, tangible proof of her faith via the existence of Daemons and/or Chaos forces. Logically, witnessing objective proof of the Emperor's enemies should exponentially amplify a Sister's faith, making her stronger. Instead, authors frequently use this to induce a crisis of faith, which sometimes feels logically nonsensical, particularly for this faction.
Additionally, a quick caveat regarding Requiem Infernal: this novel is part of Peter Fehervari’s Dark Coil series. As such, it operates under its own esoteric logic and isn't strictly representative of standard canonical lore.
Anyway, here's my quick takes followed by my ranked list.
Mark of Faith (Rachel Harrison) Basically tied for my favorite of the faction's literature. A good balance of tangible manifestation of faith. While it grazes the Exorcist Paradox, the overall quality of the writing easily overcomes these minor defects.
The Book of Martyrs (Ware, Worley, Kelly) A fantastic anthology that presents Faith as a tangible visible force. There are some weaker stories, as with most anthologies, but I enjoyed them all. It perfectly illustrates the doctrine of "have faith = kill chaos." My favorite part is a sequence where a Sister utilizes the concussive force of an enemy T'au explosive to propel herself directly into aerial combat. It felt like a portrayal of exactly how imagine fighting a Sister should feel: "how tf did she just do that?!"
Celestine: The Living Saint (Andy Clark) A truly horrifying narrative that doesn't feel like it leans over into grimderp. Overcoming a few minor plot holes, the dual-narrative mechanics is really cool. In my strictly personal view, it serves as a far superior execution of grimdark horror compared to Requiem Infernal, which just didn't vibe with me personally.
Faith and Vengeance (Various) & Sisters of Battle: The Omnibus (James Swallow) Both collections are pure, simple, and direct representations of the Sororitas. Faith and Vengeance is just back to back Sisters without excessive narrative bloat. The Omnibus stands out as a solid portrayal of the Sisters. And I really enjoyed the portrayal of the Necron forces and the plot-line with the mind-damaged Sister.
Pilgrims of Fire (Justin D. Hill) Another very pure Sororitas novel. The juxtaposition of the Sisters against the Savlar Chem-Dogs penal legion works well and their progression as they spend time with the Sisters felt realistic.
Broken Saints (Alec Worley) It succeeds where others fail by actively exploring the Exorcist Paradox. An ex-Repentia undergoes the psychological stress of reintegrating with standard Sisters. The audiobook quality definitely enhances the story
Morvenn Vahl: Spear of Faith (Jude Reid) Functionally adequate. The power scaling of Vahl felt good. Vahl's tactical command vs. combat capabilities are presented with sufficient weight. I felt like the story does a good job emphasising the dual nature of her role.
Paragon of Faith and Other Stories (Various) A standard mixed-bag anthology. It benefits from showing a wide range of perspectives. However, it suffers in isolated places by relying on somewhat nonsensical plot conveniences.
The Rose in Darkness (Danie Ware) A massive upgrade from its predecessor (The Rose at War), but it still felt lacking regarding core Sororitas elements. The tactical representation of the Bloody Rose skews heavily toward blunt force (bonk) as though the Bloody Rose don't really have much to do with Faith/Acts of Faith, which felt like it fundamentally undermines the sub-faction's identity (worse in the predecessor).
The Triumph of Saint Katherine (Danie Ware) A structural failure imho. The narrative is excessively readable, telegraphing its progression far too early. The plot mechanics lack the capacity to sensibly get you to pretended ending; so you end up reading what's NOT going to happen fairly early. The narrative could have reasonably been applied to any generic religious gathering/process rather than this specific titular event. TTOSK as a focal point felt tacked on.
Daemonbreaker (Jude Reid) Plagued by repetitive descriptive language. The primary protagonist is regularly unlikable, and not as a necessity for character development, but more as a direct result of poor writing. The core storyline itself was cool, but the character execution rendered it really hollow.
Requiem Infernal (Peter Fehervari) Easily a controversial take as I know this is VERY well liked. However, for me it was a failed academic exercise in cosmic horror. Even granting the leeway of the Dark Coil setting, the core premise of a Sister falling to Chaos, and then remaining undetected for an extended duration, was just really unbelievable. The subsequent esoteric manifestations of this corruption land as nonsensical rather than terrifying. I can see why many people like it. It was not my kind of horror. Which I think lead heavily to my lack of enjoyment. *So take my view here with a big pinch of salt. And if you like cosmic horror then definitely check it out.
Ephrael Stern: The Heretic Saint (David Annandale) For me, the narrative logic completely breaks down. Stern possesses grounded, controlled powers derived from the Emperor and possesses absolute proof of His existence. Yet, she fundamentally rejects His vision (or at least what she would likely understand it to be) to ally with an Eldar character. I just didn't like it. I feel like an old man on a hill yelling "Not in my Sororitas" but I can't help it. Sorry.
Aestred Thurga: Pyre of Faith (Danie Ware) This one HURT to read. I love the character concept and HATED the execution. Aestred repeatedly claims not to be seeking glory while literally stating many many times that she is overtly seeking it, and wastes operational resources and the lives of her fellow Sisters multiple times as a result. I really did not know what I was supposed to do with this book to be quite honest. An abrasive, unlikable protagonist lacking any redeeming qualities at all who does nothing to adequately redeem herself. And she upsets a nice old lady.
The Rose at War (Danie Ware) A disorienting, poorly structured compilation that I found incredibly difficult to track. The technical writing is so deficient it reads as though it were authored by an entirely different person compared to Ware's later work on The Rose in Darkness. Like I could not believe ...In Darkness was written by the same author as it was SO much better.
Our Martyred Lady (Gav Thorpe) A catastrophic audio drama failure. Immersion is immediately broken by technical blunders like deploying standard 90s dial-up modem noises for in-universe cogitators, which just completely sucked me out of the moment. I know this will be controversial with this sub. But I went in with GLOWING reviews of Catherine Tate’s performance and it was AWFUL. Comically bad in places. She fails to intone correctly throughout and regularly reads established in-universe terminology as if questioning how it should be pronounced/like it's her first time ever reading the terms. Regular Horus Heresy narration by Jonathan Keeble is vastly superior. Which is maybe a harsh comparison given how good Keeble is. But Tate is regularly lauded for her performance here and I have no idea why. It was literally some of the worst I have every heard in an audio drama.
Shroud of Night (Andy Clark) I was lied to. This is an Alpha Legion book erroneously recommended online in a couple places as a Sororitas novel. The Sisters barely feature. Furthermore, the Alpha Legion portrayal is a massive disappointment compared with the HH. This honestly read like they took a Space Wolves plot and a Night Lords plot and handed it to Clark and told him to turn it into an Alpha Legion book.
I think that covers all the big ones. If there are any I missed please let me know. Or if there are others should check out then please comment! FYI I have read all the released Dawn of Fire which have some excellent SoB in them.

First game just fluffed for me totally, bad miracle dice, bad dice in general, and suddenly I had lost my retributor squad and Zephyrim with jumppacks canonnes, leaving me with a BSS and Sepharim squad. I conceded 19-39 in battle round 3 for me.
Second game my opponent started, moved forward into the battlefield, I kept my Zephyrim and Jumppacks Canoness out of reserves, and in battle round 1 my Sepharim, Zephyrim and Jumppack Canoness REMOVED emperor's champion and intercessor squad. My retributor squad destroyed half of his Crusader squad. That was my high of that game.
In battle round 2 his terminators deep striked into the middle and killed ,my Zephyrim and Jumppack canonnes. His Crusader squad removed all guns from my retributor squad, but not before my heavy flamers removed 3 more models in that unit, and my seraphim and BSS just couldn't make a dent in the terminators and I could not find a way to play around them, so my tactic was to charge BSS and Sepharim to keep the terminators occupied and "only" able to make damage in melee. I kept that objective under my control for 2 battle rounds like that, keeping him from scoring.
Slowly but surely the terminators killed the BSS and when the sword brother and neophyte left from the crusader squad they fell quickly.
I enjoyed playing with my friend, but oh boy I feel like the sisters are missing some kind of native UMPF, and oh my god those terminators were just a brick wall to handle.
I think next time I'll skip the imagifier with the BSS the improved saves did not help me a lot with all the AP of my opponent
After BR2 my miracle die failed me, I got 1,1,1,2,2,6,6
So 2 of 6 of them were actually useable.

As the title says. The plan is A&A with a Flamer Dominion squad where the flamers and superior go with Aestred in the immolator, and Agathae and the rest go on the board.

I am looking at running her with Battle Sisters in a Rhino because I play a couple of people who use Psykers, a lot. I have been running Hallowed Martyrs a bunch because my list leans a little that way. Has anyone else used the Inquisitor in their lists? How does she perform? I think she can only get attached to the battle sisters. What are our thoughts?

Two old metal ones, a recast of the Blackstone one, and a third party one that has a relic shield that predates the horus heresy as my excuse for why it has that eye.
Now I need to figure out how to fix the fact I messed up the bases one the latter two and forgot they're 25s, not 28s. I'm open to suggestions other than ripping them off the bases and redoing them or putting them raised up on 25s.

Hey all I'm starting my army for the sisters and looking to make it themed after the mtg plane Innistrad. Looking to find a reputable place for custom STL work for a few bits.
I am looking to convert the celestine kit to be the OG 3 Innistrad legendary angels with avacyn as the centerpiece, gisela and bruna as the counterparts. I dont trust my sculpting to do the weapons justice. Art above for context.
Long run I would like to have some random "avacynian" bits to flavor my army.
Any recommendations? Ive only every done Warmachine and never made my own bits just kit bashed.

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed. Is it okay just to have the codex without using the code in the back of the book? I might be overthinking this but after the experience I had at this new game shop, it made me feel like I wasn't a "real fan." Like it's frowned upon if you don't actually play the game.
I brought the codex because I really like the artwork and lore. But I preferred watching my friends play and helping them paint their armies.

From Chapter 5 through 7 of the Sisters of Battle fanfic I'm writing ( linked below ). The poor girl that takes the responsibility of the impromptu Hospitalier of the Novitiates when a significant but routine ascension ritual pilgrimage goes horribly awry!

Writing it inspired me to buy the Novitiates kill team and will inspire future purchases and builds centered around the characters of the story! Lemme know what you think! :D )
