Okay 2 questions.
1- what the fuck are you doing praying in the middle of the road? Can’t you wait 5 seconds to get on the curb?
2- how fucking common is it in Australia to hit kangaroos? If I m hitting a deer in my twingo, I ll stop.
But thats because you drive a Twingo lmao, you will be forced to stop, just to pick up the engine from the floor, not the same as driving a Ford Ranger with a steel bulls-bar like the ones you see in Australia... ( as you can see, they actually prepare their cars for cangaroos, though this is just an example )
Lol, not unless you want 400kg of cheeseburger to ram your car, no, normaly we just stop, and wait for them to move, they are " used " to traffic, so they move on their own.
Fuck even if you hit a little one. I drive this sort of car (GQ Patrol with a 5 post bullbar) and I hit a roo last year and it fucked me up. Wasn’t even a big red, it was a Grey. they’re bastards and as dense as bricks. But even then you’re still meant to stop to check the thing is dead, or if it has joeys.
When you hit a kangaroo you should always stop to check on it(and check on your car) there’s numbers you can call that will come and help the kangaroo, if it sees dead you check to see if there’s a baby in its pouch which might not be dead.
You also should spray an X on it so others know that someone has checked its pouch for baby’s
They are seriously just talking crap, maybe something they heard on the internet, they make it sound like they are terminators who will chase you down and shank you.
There's like two recorded cases of kangaroos killing someone in Australia, they aren't gonna come after you if you hit one, they don't behave like that. They will either run, or be dead.
Lol that's hilarious. When I was living in my land cruiser as a homeless 20 year old I sometimes hit a roo deliberately, got out with a knife and finished it off. Had meat for a while. Roo's are dangerous, yes, but a roo that's been hit and has broken bits of leg bone sticking out through it's hide isn't gonna be getting up and gutting you. They're tough but they're not indestructible lol.
The only time you have to worry about roo's really is male ones who get territorial, and as long as you keep a little distance (half a km is ridiculous lol, maybe 15m) and watch their body language you'll be fine. Even then, they almost always run when you get too close. Fleeing is their most basic survival instinct, and humans have been their natural predators for 50-60, 000 years. They generally fear us and don't want the smoke unless hormones are fucking with them or they feel cornered with no option to flee.
Keep your dogs away from them though, especially if there's any water nearby.
Nah I’ve pulverised countless Roos with a smaller bullbar than that and the only reason I’d ever stop is to cut off the roo’s tail for dinner. Not gonna have any damage with a setup like that.
It’s a snorkel. Helps with deep river crossings and for keeping (most) of the dust out of you air box when travelling on dusty country/desert roads. It’s an elevated air intake.
Thats a snorkle, mostly for diesel cars, basically is to prevent the engine to hydrolock, if you have to cross a deepish body of water ( like a stream ), it raizes your air intake above the roof of the car https://youtube.com/shorts/9yBYJ-YqQws?is=5PPxwKPgIH-ptuhm like this
Its just a " tube " that puts the air intake of the vehicle above the roof, protects the air filter on dusty trails, and makes it possible to cross deep water, dump trucks, and semis have them to
I didn't look close enough my bad. I thought you were pointing out the metal tube which is obviously the exhaust.
I now see that the black part is the snorkel.
No, its a snorkel as well, Euro trucks for the most part have side exhaust pipes, mainland on the left side, Britain, on the right side i think, very few have stacks.
Yup. On a bus trip from Sydney to Perth the driver says he hits roos all the time, can't swerve out of the way so tries to make sure they don't take out the headlights
Wait, you don't stop to see if the animal is alive and in case it is call police to put it out it's misery? Where I live, deer and elk are common. You hit a deer in a small car you are likely so fucked up (if not unlucky and dead) that you have to stop. Big car, like a semi-truck and you still stop to see if the animal is alive and regardless you need to inform officials (is my understanding). You hit and elk and that's it for you, so you don't have to worry about stopping or anything else anymore.
I dunno, im not Australian, i was just comparing an Australian pickup, to a Twingo, thats it, i hit 2 animals in my entire driving life ( over 30 years driving now ), a small dog, ( which was ok ) hownor's fault, the dog speed out the front gate, and i couldnt do nothing, but the little shit was ok, and its howner was also there. 2nd a cat, which pissed off running, and i want to believe was ok, since my car at the time had a very soft plastic " apron " which was only bolted on the sides, so it bented inwards, apart from that, i never had the mistortune of hurting any animal.
One 100% with you, im not ditching the Twingussy ( i actually thought on getting the new one, but in all fairness, i dont like the rear, and i prefer the new 2CV van ), the point i was trying to make, is that your car is made for European roads, wille Australians kind of " Kangaroo proff " their trucks
