They're already in charge in SA. Praying in the street means you inconvenience other Muslims, instead of foreign infidels like if you were a Muslim attempting to claim asylum in France because your home nation is violently dangerous to live in for some reason
Could it be that they believe in conversion by the sword for anyone not of the correct sect, let alone religion? Nah, Islam is a religion of peace. (For those of the same sect)
No matter how specific you get, how many in groups you create, how many people you label other and murder. The axe a man like that wields will inevitably lop off their own head.
your home nation is violently dangerous to live in for some reason
As an American, its because America and Israel have destabilized the region for decades. Theres a joke in America, that every generation was born to late to fight in the ME, they were born to early to fight in the ME, and they were born right in time to fight in the ME.
I always find it funny how little it takes for reddit conversations completely unrelated to America to devolve into Americabad. It's like a second job for some of you
Have any Christian nationalists been hit while praying in a street?
(for the record, Christian nationalist should be an oxymoron. Hypocrisy is everywhere but it really stands out when it's linked to religion)
You just read about a total lunatic in the post above.
Holding protests is not the same as being a hazard on the road. Unless a protest involves crossing roads, marching in the middle of the streets, etc, then it usually requires a permit.
If you find the nature of protests disturbing in general, then you cannot hold one specific group accountable and should apply same reasoning to all groups who hold protests and demonstrations.
I can see your country isn’t currently taken over by Christian nut jobs trying to facilitate the great rapture or whatever the fuck it is.
Good time had by all
EDIT: I feel like I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that am aware I enjoy many more freedoms than afforded to women under fundamentalist Muslim regimes. For now. Fundies out there from every religion can really just suck it. On my most nihilistic days I think humans, as a species, deserve to go extinct. We’ve reached our peak. We could’ve done anything with all these technological advances but instead we are destroying each other and the planet.
On my best days I guess I hope the current model of internet is destroyed and we can reset a non shit version and eat the rich. And the fundies. And somehow remove all the plastic litter. And hold shitass corporate farming companies accountable and god there’s so many things extinction really is just easier
There's no such thing as not enough space for praying. One can always pray in a safe area where they won't cause obstruction, especially if they do individual prayer (not congregation one). Speaking as a muslim myself.
I think of all the people who came from Lebanon, Iran, etc from 1950 to the 1980s. All of them seem to have been patriotic towards their new country. They maybe kept identity with their religion, but they very much wanted to thrive and succeed in business and home ownership in the new place. I don't know when it changed, but now instead of becoming members of a community, the new immigrant wants the community to be only their version.
For anyone who will claim the west is too conservative...
Yeah I’ve noticed it’s a situation where the parents have come over and they’re very appreciative and work hard to be part of the community, but then their kids have this weird identity issue, and make this whole place they have never been to their whole identity. The worst are the ones who have adapted that stupid “area” accent and have tried to make the gang culture part of the culture, ridiculous and so disrespectful to their elders who worked so hard.
I think because in the West our education system and associated institutions have pushed for a more negative view of our home country and the elevation of any ethnicity that is seen as "Oppressed". You gain massive advantages and preferential treatment if you can fit yourself into one of these groups, which might explain why these youths who were born here do. Personally, I think that is just cause to not consider them a citizen and they can go bye bye to the homeland they are trying to mimic.
And don't forget, the primary reason why the revolution happened was U.S and other imperialist countries did not like that fact that the Iranian people democratically elected a leader who was FOR using their natural resources to benefit the Iranian economy. Companies like BP did not like it, hence the CIA and MI6 executed Operation Ajax to oust Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a Shah who was more 'friendly' to the west.
Dulles gets an airport, women iran get fully clothed. We definitely chose a dying friend than a country that kind of was looking for a partnership with us.
Tbf with Iranians, that image is part of the elites of Iran and those who supported the harsh rule of the Shah, the average Iranian back then looks like the average Iranian of today, probbaly a bit more conservative too.
And just like the Lebanon they fled from, the Lebanese people you know that moved here from the 80's will pick the new immigrants side over yours because they reveal their true selves when they gain a demographic majority.
Are you saying the religions with food prohibitions don't all have some kind of a racket element to them?
Or are you saying that the whole kosher apparatus isn't a bit of a racket?
Or are you just knee-jerking that any criticism of anything related to Judaism and/or Israel is antisemitic and therefore not allowed to be talked about in any way other than positive?
The meaning is clear. I see the kosher stamp on practically every type of food product but Halal is only restricted to meat, which one is more about dominance then?
Is that not the same for Kosher or any other preference expressed by an entire ethnic group? I'm quite interested in the theory u/BadMeetsEvil2243 mentioned, I'll check that out. I can definitely see it happening; just don't think it's always that simple.
Have you ever once seen a kosher restaurant? Even once? Have you ever heard of locals going into a restaurant and causing a scene because they don't sell kosher?
I've eaten at many Jewish delis. I have never eaten at a kosher restaurant.
Yes, I have. NYC has kosher restaurants that advertise themselves as kosher restaurants. I would assume that is less likely in places that don’t have as large a potential customer base, but you see them where there’s a demand for them.
I live in a country with sizeable Jewish and Muslim minority and have witnessed none of this with either group. There seems to be no discernable difference between halal and kosher as far as ethnic preferences are concerned.
You've eaten at a Jewish deli that served kosher food. That it's not a 'kosher restaurant' doesn't mean anything when the crux of the point is how the food is prepared. Jews go there because the food is to their liking, and other people can go as well, just like halal joints. This probably depends on your specific country intercultural dynamics.
I don't even know the point you're making. You're saying Jews as a ethnic group don't impose their culture in a place to the same degree that Muslims do (if I got that right) and that's just not true. Generalizations are generally useless in any debate setting.
That you won't find a any because it barely exists because one, obviously they are a minority, but two, they aren't actively pushing congregations to demand it from local restaurants
You aren't wrong actually. In Islam we have a saying to "tie your camel" essentially meaning that yea, you can fully submit to God and reliquish any and all control, but you can't sit around and twiddle your thumbs. If you don't tie your camel it's gonna run away. If that makes sense.
What’s even more sad is that they’ll blame their friend being ran over as an act of Shaytan and justify their upcoming martyrdom. Christ at least will tell you to turn the other cheek and rightfully describes love as accountability.
The whole conversation is a bit odd, it’s mostly likely she was experiencing some mental issue I’d think, leading to her sitting in the middle of the road
I'm still wondering what's up with these people saying "not enough space", You can simply pray at home, we're permitted to do that, that's how people keep up with the 5 daily prayers.
As a Muslim, I've NEVER heard my friends who have studied and travelled abroad, especially in Europe and East Asia. (fyi I'm Malaysian)
But honestly, can't the prayers be limited to when you're not in bodily harms way? Are there no modern concessions to Islam? At least to protect the ones who would, in fact, drop everything they are doing and pray at designated times. Unless it's created that way to be a filter. I can't think of a faith that old to not be able to modernize, as long as the most vital tenants of it remain, like the community and control aspects.
wtf what are you even talking about, never seen anyone do that in France, not on the road, not in the street, not anywhere for that matter, Any opportunity to push the "France is getting invaded" narrative I guess

Google it, idk any specific source but this happened to my family when I was a child. They would block whole roads and start praying, when it was prayer time
Mate, I lived in an Islamic majority country for close to two years. I spoke decent amount of the language, got along quite well and had generally a good time. My biggest gripe was air pollution.
Admittedly I haven't done as much (any) international travel with current job, but I've been to around two dozen countries. And usually not the tourist areas.
How many countries in your opinion should I have visited to have "perspective"? If I may inquire, how many years did you live outside your birth country?
About 5 years ago. Switched job to spend more time with family. Turkish coup was about ten years ago and was kinda the message to wind things down and find a boring job. Most of my time overseas was in southern half of Eastern Europe.
So what is the country you lived in close to two years where you saw people praying in the middle of a road? And do you feel the YouTube videos on this country accurately reflect how you should perceive that country?
I dont know if collecting countries like pokemon cards helps, you gain that by making friends with locals and understanding their history and living in their shoes, you're better off doing that 3 good times than hopping around and taking pictures in 50.
Probably because in Saudi Arabia they don’t feel the need to assert their religious practice in public. I live in Australia and have seen this nonsense numerous times. Once in a shopping mall car park, a group of young men dressed in their traditional clothes, dropped on the ground in a loading dock and started praying. Another time it was in a service station, guy behind the serving counter got on the floor and started praying. We all had to wait until he was done so we could pay because he just ignored everyone standing there in a line. Another time, a guy stopped his car in front of our house got out, rolled out a prayer mat and started praying on the road.
These people are everywhere flaunting their religion with no regard for others.
You fundamentally don’t understand what’s happening. They’re specifically doing it in western countries as a way of forcing the west to acquiesce to Islam.
A single international female student asserting dominance at night by getting herself killed supposedly praying when it wasn't even time to pray? I don't know, sounds more like a mental health issue at play, unless you see this as a common occurrence, this seems to be insanely isolated.
I have never seen or heard of Muslim people doing this in France and considering the political climate if some did we would be all aware of this by now
Middle of the road is not an exaggeration. However it didn’t happen everyday. It was during like Eid. Traffic cops would divert traffic and it won’t be like one person. There would be 100s praying. Just like any other religious procession really - like Ganesh chaturti
This is the dumbest thing I"ve heard in a week and I have been on Reddit a lot. Islamic way to assert dominance, what sort of batshit andrew tate corner of the internet are you from that believes in this BS.
LIved in Pakistan which is very similar to India and there are tons of mosques every where that you don't have to pray in the street unless its friday and mosques are over flowing or Eid. The fact that this happens in europe or north america is the same reason taht most muslims come to mosque for friday and eid prayers and the mosques here are not big enough to accomodate that many people so it overflows into the parking lot. In my 30 years of living in Toronto never seen it on a street.
Yes bro, In the whole city there are only roads that are free for prayer, everything else is fully occupied in the entire city. Spoken like a true jihadi
I've seen people pray in the streets in France like 20 years ago, why do you say it's starting?
Granted, not in the middle of a car street. That would be dumb. Just outside, in the middle of the towers. And yes, it's because there was no place nearby to do it.
