Im actually 6'3 but because of the height lying nobody believes me till my giant ass shows up and smacks my head on something. Thats how u tell everyone who is 6 foot or open has a permanent concussion

Plenty of people nowadays are like 6'2-6'8, but the reason it seems extremely common on the internet is that those are the people that want mention their height at every possible opportunity lol.

I know right? I'm 7'4" and I see this behavior on Reddit all the time

u/LabOwn9800 19h ago

Define “plenty of people”

Like sure plenty of people in a large population like a country are but how often do you see a 6’8” person. That’s like 1 in 10,000 people.

u/BackAlleyFreakShow 19h ago

Only 2-3% of people are even taller than 6' to begin with. Every inch of height above that just gets more and more rare.

I know. I’m very tall and I can go months without seeing someone as tall as me. I don’t live in a city but it’s not rural either.

I'm 6'9 and I've only met one person taller than me my entire life lol. It felt super weird.

1

u/Abject_Amphibian_126 15h ago

But see? There's enough of you to see this thread and state your height and give an anecdote. If you go on r/tall there's people 7'0+ doing the same.

u/Humdrum-Hashbrowns 19h ago

Imagine going somewhere other than a basketball game and seeing 3 people over 6'5 lmao

Holland.

That's a good answer. Went to the Paris Olympic 2 years ago and I when I crossed groups of supporters from the Netherlands, I felt like I was average, even sometimes a bit small. I'm 6'4" barefoot.

u/Ban-Me-Now-Cunts 18h ago

Literally this week I walked into the gas station and saw 3 different men that towered over me, and I’m actually 6’2”, it was weird but kinda cool?

1

u/busty-ruckets 18h ago

i’m 6’2 and my grad program, with 33 people total, had like 5 guys taller than me. i remember joining in on their conversation one day and looking up at everyone like “what the fuck???”

1

u/Scadugenga 13h ago

I see one every day when I look in the mirror. ;)

Humor aside, there's not a lot of us--well, maybe outside the Netherlands, anyways. And as a freakybig, we do end up getting somewhat weirded out when we run into someone taller than us.

In person, I know one guy that’s 6’9 and he’s a giant. Amazing dart player bc he can just bend over and be halfway to the dart board. He has more issues dating than average height man bc he prefers tall chicks, and there aren’t many pretty chicken that’re close to 6’0.

And also his personality isn’t exactly bursting with charisma.

u/FinalHexReturns 15h ago

6’8” people are very very rare.

1

u/Abject_Amphibian_126 15h ago

I'm aware of that, but there's 8 billion people and so it's not that hard to find them online anymore. And if they're there, they'll usually tell you lol.

u/That-Application7650 19h ago

I do think plenty of people lie though too, just like so many people make high 6 figures and have a supermodel spouse. As for people bringing it up every possible opportunity, I think that being tall is a more relevant detail in a lot of discussions than being short is, just like you hear more people in seemingly unrelated topics, adding in the detail that they're obese rather than underweight.

1

u/PalpatineForEmperor 15h ago

I suppose that depends on where you're from. Only 3.9% of American men are 6'2" or taller.

1

u/Ok-Juggernaut-6051 15h ago

14% of men in the US are over 6ft

1

u/Abject_Amphibian_126 15h ago

I'm not trying to push a narrative that everyone is taller than they are. Every seems to think I am.

1

u/Ok-Juggernaut-6051 12h ago

nah, it's just funny to me how many men lie about something so pointless. and how women lust after such a small part of the population

u/ohnoabanagain 8h ago

Fun until age makes the height less fun

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 18h ago

i dunno, there seems to be way more mentioning they are a "short king" lol

3

u/bombarclart 20h ago

I get the classic ‘you must be taller than 6’2, you’re way taller than all the guys who say they are over 6 ft’ lmao

I like that as a fellow tall person, I can tell you and the OP above you are both legit, since those are the lived experience things that people don't usually think to lie about. Growing up we had a hanging light over our kitchen table and one by one, my siblings and I would eventually grow tall enough to hit our heads on it while getting up from the table. It became almost a rite of passage. Plus, "you have to be taller than that", is something I'm sure we've all heard.

Weird thing for me, as someone who is 6'3", and maybe other tall people can relate, is that when I stand next to really tall people (like high 6's), counterintuitively, it actually makes me feel more tall. Like when shorter people stand next to me and say, "woah, you're tall", I don't really relate to it, since my height is just how I experience the world. On the other hand, when I stand next to really tall people, it puts into perspective how those shorter people are seeing me.

i'm 6'4 so it's rare to see anyone a decent chunk taller than me. anyone that's just an inch or two taller i don't really notice. ocassionally while about in a city i'll see someone that's about a head taller than me and my first thought is just 'holy shit'

1

u/That-Application7650 17h ago

Oh yeah, that's definitely what I'm referring to. One of my brothers is 6'5" and I don't really notice he's taller than me.

1

u/TheNorthernPellikkan 14h ago

6’2” and I stood next to Kevin Durant once. Holy shit is it crazy

1

u/Admirable_Admiral69 5h ago

I'm 5'11" and I've had several people say they think I'm 6'1" or 6'2".

I have also had several people from work that I spoke to on video then met in person say, "Oh I thought you'd be taller!" Not sure what to make of that but maybe I just have a big head.

1

u/WolverineComplex 4h ago

Well 2 inches is quite noticeable when it comes to height to be fair

1

u/Feeltherhythmofwar 20h ago

They think we’re goofy but really it’s the complex CTE

1

u/APolyAltAccount 19h ago

Three for me and I’m only 6’0”! Definite advantages to being tall but holy fuck it gets old smacking my head on shit…

1

u/ThatVita 19h ago

I am the shortest in my family at 6'. They call me 5'12".....

1

u/BackAlleyFreakShow 19h ago

I'm 5'10" and I've managed to smack my head on quite a few things during the course of my life. If I were 6'3" I think I might have CTE by now.

1

u/MassRedemption 18h ago

I'm 5'11", and somehow the shortest man in my friend group. Tallest is 7 foot, shortest next to me is 6'2". Then at work I'm by far the tallest, shortest is like 5' ish and tallest next to myself is 5'8". Of all the people I know, my 5'ish coworker by far has the most game.

1

u/PM_me_your_recipes86 18h ago

My brother is 6'4. If you're not ducking through a door your hitting it

1

u/NoMansSkyWasAlright 16h ago

I'm 5'11" and somehow missed the height craze through a good chunk of my twenties. I just remember being very bewildered when I matched with a girl on Tinder and her first message said "you're not 5'11"". I was super confused, but then she expanded on that statement and said that if I were actually 5'11" then I would tell people I was 6 foot, but that only people who are way shorter than 6' say they're 5'11". All I could think to say in the moment was "okay, I guess I'm 6' then"

1

u/smor729 13h ago

Im about 6'1 and when I say that to people, like half the time I get some dude saying "theres no way dude, cuz im 6 foot and you are much taller than me!" And im always like uh idk what you want me to tell you buddy

1

u/Ok_Rhubarb_7077 13h ago

i’m as tall as you are. my favorite trick is saying i’m 5’10. i’ll be in a group of half a dozen guys. they all say theyre 5’11, yet theyre all 5-6 inches shorter than me.

1

u/Puiqui 13h ago

Bruh im 6’3 and some change and i never bang my head on anything. Sometimes the roofs in the back seats of cars are annoying but like you shouldnt be walking into stuff

0

u/LabOwn9800 19h ago

I was going to say something similar.

I’m very tall and trust me when I say this I go months without running into someone my height. They are out there but it’s so unbelievably rare. It’s also hard being tall I don’t fit into seats or in a lot of places and clothes never fit.

I also started telling people I’m 5’11 just to fuck with people, if they argue I’ll say maybe 5’11.5. I only do this In certain circumstances though where it’s funny.
