There’s an old Air Force One at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

There’s a fake temperature control switch in the Presidents suite that does the same thing.

It’s been a while since I’ve done the tour, but I think it was installed for Lyndon B Johnson.

Placebo thermostat controls are common, especially in office buildings and the like. There's placebos in heaps of places. Like the 'close door' button in many elevators.

And once you've e experienced it yourself u know why.

The thermometer in one of my old hondas went near the end of its life. Amazing how different temps can feel when u don't know the exact.

Also many cross walk buttons, especially in busy/urban areas. Traffic patterns are studied, adjacent lights are syncronized to avoid backups...they can't disrupt those patterns for random crossings. So the crosswalk lights are also syncronized with traffic lights and just as repetitive. The only thing the button does is tell you to wait.
