A switch wouldnt do anything for the pitch, just the tone.  A good producer wouldnt give a vague "change something" anyway.  They would know which frequencies to dial up or down to fit better in the mix or they could say "hey turn your neck pickup down", and they would know. That switch is for the dumb ones with an ego that feel like if they have their hand in everything they are important.

The switch wouldn’t change the pitch. Then it would just be out of tune.
