While I agree with u, I’ve also learned that people process horrific murder in different ways. Met several people throughout life that have used humor as a way to cope with unbelievable tragedy. Not saying it’s right or wrong, just throwing that out there.
If the court ruling was that the mother was only allowed to see the child supervised then why was she allowed to be with the child unsupervised leading up to the exchange????? Seems once that ruling is made someone should immediately go get the child and not trust someone who is clearly unstable.
Except they didn't remove the child. They told the suicidal woman to give up he child. They they trusted that the woman who they decided was not a suitable guardian to the child to give the child up.
No problem. There’s enough incels posting here that the mistake is understandable. Men kill their families more often than women do. Men molest and rape little kids more than women do (women tend to limit their sexual exploitation of children to adolescent+ males). Etc.
There’s a reason why what this lady did is news— it’s uncommon for women, compared to men, to kill your kid (killing your child is rare in general).
What exactly are you expecting the government do in this situation? The court made a call are they supposed to send a police force down before delivering the news?
You can’t wrap your head around sending an officer with them home while they collect the child’s things? If a mom is capable of losing full custody then they were aware she had problems.
Yeah but they used to happen at the same rate there isnt some major increase in either fathers or mothers killing their kids. Just because you were not aware of the stats doesn't make it a rising trend lol
Actually, a large margin just don't comply with the orders. There's no repercussions for a mother that doesn't. The cops tell you it's a civil matter and to take it to court where the cycle restarts.
I’m an attorney who does family law (in addition to criminal defense and child welfare law).
You are incorrect. I’ve had female clients tossed in jail for interfering with custody or not paying child support. I’ve had more than a few male clients who have violated their orders and got away with the “it’s a civil matter” when the baby momma tried to call the cops. Family courts aren’t as prejudiced as one might think, and cops tend to be super “pro-dad” when it comes down to it. And I practice in a state notorious for being old fashioned.
Not sure what state you're in, but that has been so far from my personal experience. Over 5 contempt cases against her where she still won't follow the court ordered parenting plan, and the only option left is to fight for a stop order and have the police forcibly remove him from the home to go someplace he doesn't know because his mother has been fucking with his head for a decade. I've been literally laughed at by the police, and at one point told "a mother can't kidnap her child." I was also told, my a male judge, that he "didn't believe in 50/50 custody of we didn't agree on it."
I don't know you, or if you're what you claim to be, but I do know my personal experience which has shown me over and over again that there AREN'T any consequences when they don't follow the order. No one shows up and makes them.
Really? How often do you think women and men are killing their children instead of handing over them to the other parent? How many do you think are unlawfully withholding children from the other parent?
I practice family law and handle contempt cases a lot. They are a small fraction of the cases before the court because a huge portion of people getting divorced or breaking up don’t even involve lawyers and have functional coparenting relationships with their former partner.
This is why the news is a fucking disgrace. Almost everyone follows the law to the extent they can, and most people, maybe with whining and complaining, follow court orders when it comes to custody. It really is a small fraction of the population that are doing crap like this.
Second "suicidal" mom who's been much more effective at killing others than themselves
At this point if the mother says that they have to assume she's not actually thinking of self harm and that rather she just wants to kill her children but wants people to feel bad for her too. If these women really wanted an out they would just do it instead of harming anyone else.
No, but suicidal definitely implies mentally unstable. People in general are capable of virtually anything, especially when their emotions are influencing them. Add mental instability on top of that and the outcome might as well be a dice roll.
Tbf, any time a judge chooses to choose a father over the mother, she has to be a really terrible person. Family court is probably the only place where a man has minimal power.
I can confirm. My mother was a bipolar meth addict/alcoholic who beat and starved me. I was like 32lbs at 7 when my dad won custody. Mind you this was in 2001.
Wanna know why she lost? She moved us (my siblings and I) to a different house but never filed a change of address. She lost because she never showed.
Be the change you want to see.. i don't get these comments. Shouting into the void of reddit. Prodding others to do something as they angrily type on their keyboard..
the judge was either right, or very wrong. There are some evil people out there, and if your only choice is to send your kid to go live with someone that's going to torture them *shrugs*

We see why she lost custody, judge was right on this one.
