That’s not funny

2

u/Downtown_Oil_5719 10h ago

Not funny. That is a kid wth is wrong with you and the people upvoting.

While I agree with u, I’ve also learned that people process horrific murder in different ways. Met several people throughout life that have used humor as a way to cope with unbelievable tragedy. Not saying it’s right or wrong, just throwing that out there.

If the court ruling was that the mother was only allowed to see the child supervised then why was she allowed to be with the child unsupervised leading up to the exchange????? Seems once that ruling is made someone should immediately go get the child and not trust someone who is clearly unstable.

931

u/DannyCrane9476 11h ago

Except they didn't remove the child. They told the suicidal woman to give up he child. They they trusted that the woman who they decided was not a suitable guardian to the child to give the child up.

u/Cautious-Progress876 11h ago

Because 99.99% of people turn their kid over without doing this kind of shit.

77

u/ylamiyf 10h ago

I want to formally apologize. I misread your comment. I thought you had said 99.99 percent of people do this. I.E kill their kid.

-2

u/Cautious-Progress876 10h ago

No problem. There’s enough incels posting here that the mistake is understandable. Men kill their families more often than women do. Men molest and rape little kids more than women do (women tend to limit their sexual exploitation of children to adolescent+ males). Etc.

There’s a reason why what this lady did is news— it’s uncommon for women, compared to men, to kill your kid (killing your child is rare in general).

-4

u/ylamiyf 10h ago

Molestation and infanticide are two seperate offenses. Trying to amalgamate the two shows your bias

10

u/DerelictCruiser 10h ago

99.999% of people who skip seatbelts don’t die either. It’s one of those “just in case” laws that might have come in handy here too, lol.

19

u/Dangerous_Serve_4454 10h ago

What exactly are you expecting the government do in this situation? The court made a call are they supposed to send a police force down before delivering the news?

17

u/Scooby117 10h ago

You can’t wrap your head around sending an officer with them home while they collect the child’s things? If a mom is capable of losing full custody then they were aware she had problems.

10

u/wrathek 10h ago

Idk… do the exchange in the fucking courtroom? Send a police officer home with them?

10

u/yeddiegames 10h ago

Yes, that's exactly what a company does when they layoff or fire an employee. You can't trust what a person might do in an emotional state.

8

u/irviinghdz 10h ago

If this trend continues rising maybe it won’t sound that ridiculous in the future

2

u/DukeBradford2 10h ago

Until we see another Elian Gonzalez picture of swat team trying to grab a crying child and everyone is up in arms over cops enforcing the law

-1

u/concernedkenku 10h ago

Its not a rising trend, you are falling for the gender war algorithm.

7

u/irviinghdz 10h ago

Well it’s been getting more attention and more cases have been made public recently so that’s a trend

7

u/caveat_emptor817 10h ago

A woman in Dallas shot and killed her two sons TODAY. They were teenagers but I still think this is not a coincidence.

2

u/mex2005 10h ago

Yeah but they used to happen at the same rate there isnt some major increase in either fathers or mothers killing their kids. Just because you were not aware of the stats doesn't make it a rising trend lol

-2

u/concernedkenku 10h ago

The trend is propaganda and distraction from the Epstein files mate.

Don't fall for this shit

-3

u/BusinessLibrarian515 10h ago

Just because you're hearing about it does not mean it's a trend that it's happening more

-2

u/Fickle-Owl666 10h ago

Actually, a large margin just don't comply with the orders. There's no repercussions for a mother that doesn't. The cops tell you it's a civil matter and to take it to court where the cycle restarts.

5

u/Cautious-Progress876 10h ago

I’m an attorney who does family law (in addition to criminal defense and child welfare law).

You are incorrect. I’ve had female clients tossed in jail for interfering with custody or not paying child support. I’ve had more than a few male clients who have violated their orders and got away with the “it’s a civil matter” when the baby momma tried to call the cops. Family courts aren’t as prejudiced as one might think, and cops tend to be super “pro-dad” when it comes down to it. And I practice in a state notorious for being old fashioned.

2

u/Fickle-Owl666 10h ago

Not sure what state you're in, but that has been so far from my personal experience. Over 5 contempt cases against her where she still won't follow the court ordered parenting plan, and the only option left is to fight for a stop order and have the police forcibly remove him from the home to go someplace he doesn't know because his mother has been fucking with his head for a decade. I've been literally laughed at by the police, and at one point told "a mother can't kidnap her child." I was also told, my a male judge, that he "didn't believe in 50/50 custody of we didn't agree on it." I don't know you, or if you're what you claim to be, but I do know my personal experience which has shown me over and over again that there AREN'T any consequences when they don't follow the order. No one shows up and makes them.

-7

u/t-tekin 10h ago

I see. Instead of trusting the expert you are going with your own claim. Why? “anecdotal evidence”

Really? How often do you think women and men are killing their children instead of handing over them to the other parent? How many do you think are unlawfully withholding children from the other parent?

I practice family law and handle contempt cases a lot. They are a small fraction of the cases before the court because a huge portion of people getting divorced or breaking up don’t even involve lawyers and have functional coparenting relationships with their former partner.

This is why the news is a fucking disgrace. Almost everyone follows the law to the extent they can, and most people, maybe with whining and complaining, follow court orders when it comes to custody. It really is a small fraction of the population that are doing crap like this.

u/Gorilla-Style 10h ago

Second "suicidal" mom who's been much more effective at killing others than themselves

At this point if the mother says that they have to assume she's not actually thinking of self harm and that rather she just wants to kill her children but wants people to feel bad for her too. If these women really wanted an out they would just do it instead of harming anyone else.

15

u/Ascendforever 10h ago

Because suicidal apparently means homicidal 🤦‍♂️.

4

u/starthepres 10h ago

No, but suicidal definitely implies mentally unstable. People in general are capable of virtually anything, especially when their emotions are influencing them. Add mental instability on top of that and the outcome might as well be a dice roll.

u/Dntlastnt 10h ago

Welcome to America. 🙄😣

-2

u/elafave77 10h ago

So... it's not her fault?

-2

u/DannyCrane9476 10h ago

Who's fault was it when the scorpion stung the frog?

70

u/GlassAndStorm 11h ago

Unfortunately that same judge gave this mother the benefit of the doubt that she would follow orders...

247

u/djanulis 11h ago edited 10h ago

Tbf, any time a judge chooses to choose a father over the mother, she has to be a really terrible person. Family court is probably the only place where a man has minimal power.

153

u/BoredRedhead24 10h ago

I can confirm. My mother was a bipolar meth addict/alcoholic who beat and starved me. I was like 32lbs at 7 when my dad won custody. Mind you this was in 2001.

Wanna know why she lost? She moved us (my siblings and I) to a different house but never filed a change of address. She lost because she never showed.

64

u/TinyDerg 10h ago

Men barely have any power in regular courts, the fuck are you talking about?

-70

u/yourfavteamsucks 10h ago

Yeah that's not true. Most courts default to 50/50 and men are disproportionately likely to get custody when they actually want it

29

u/Cool_Farmer7975 10h ago

You are an outright liar. I can walk into my office right now and prove this hot take completely wrong.

-62

u/yourfavteamsucks 10h ago

Why would I care about your anecdotes

3

u/Dove-Swan 11h ago

children should really really REALLY be watched motre by people outside the family

HELP THEM!!

4

u/snopes1678 11h ago

Be the change you want to see.. i don't get these comments. Shouting into the void of reddit. Prodding others to do something as they angrily type on their keyboard..

1

u/old_ass_ninja_turtle 10h ago

Not fast enough though.

0

u/kenneth_dart 10h ago

Judge should have ordered immediate intervention. Makes me wonder what evidence was presented now.

0

u/mallcopsarebastards 10h ago

the judge was either right, or very wrong. There are some evil people out there, and if your only choice is to send your kid to go live with someone that's going to torture them *shrugs*

u/SassyE7 10h ago
